Chapter 91: Chapter 91: His Tolerance To Her
The next morning when Edie woke up, she was shocked to find that she was in her bedroom. After trying to remember how she got there, she vaguely remembered Stuart bringing her upstairs last night.
He didn’t wake her up, and all she knew was that it was late when he got back. She brushed her teeth, washed her face, and got dressed. Then she went downstairs for breakfast. The thoughts of seeing Stuart made her heart beat faster and faster.
She was almost to the dining room when her phone rang. She took out her phone and looked at the number, and it was director Lane. Edie answered it immediately, "Hello, director. What’s up?
Director Lane sounded tired, "Edie, what happened? I got several messages from you yesterday. Are you feeling any better now?"
Yesterday, director Lane saw Stuart holding her while he was leaving. Though it made the director feel embarrassed, it was his responsibility to ask about her physical condition. Only because she was an actress in his film. It was apparent that Edie had some kind of relationship with Stuart, so displeasing Edie would be like making Stuart unhappy as well.
"I am feeling much better today, thanks," This was the first time she had talked to the director since the film had been put on hold. She thought about all the trouble that had been caused by the role change and it made her feel awful. "About the play..."
"Not a big deal at all. I had no idea of Zoe’s malicious intentions towards you. I still can’t believe she would do such a thing. Don’t worry, she’s out, she will not be working on this film production with you. As for Mr. Yates....Edie, could you please talk to him about something for me? Tell him not to cancel the film. Otherwise, it will be bad for you."
Edie was astonished after hearing what Mr. Lane had just said. "This was Stuart’s decision? Why would he do this? He has no right to make this kind of decision."
"Edie, you don’t have to cover it up anymore. Before you got the audition, I had known about your relationship with Mr. Yates, but I never realized exactly how important you were to him."
Hearing this, Edie seized the point immediately. What did he know about her relationship with Stuart before she got the chance to audition? Recalling Danny’s question, Edie asked him, "Director, I have one question. Zoe Anna had signed the contract and took the photo, so why did you give me a chance to audition?"
The director’s voice sounded strange after Edie asked this question, "Edie, you really have no idea how you got the audition? You really don’t have to pretend, and I know your secret."
"Honestly, director Lane, I really don’t know what is going on. Could you please tell me the truth."
"Universe Entertainment invested one hundred million dollars in making you play Susan in the film. Universe Entertainment is one of the subsidiaries in the L.N. Group. Apparently, it was Stuart that did this for you. Didn’t he tell you?"
Edie was completely confused. She never expected that Stuart got himself involved in this. She thought she got the role by herself. So everything that the netizen are saying about her is right. She really stole Zoe Anna’s role.
"Edie?" Hearing no response from her, the director thought she lost the signal.
"Oh, I think I understand now. I will talk to you later, thanks."
"Alright, Edie, please say something on my behalf to Mr. Yates. It is also your play. You don’t want to screw it up. Right?"
Edie hung up the phone. She tried to control the thoughts that were racing through her mind. She decided it was time to talk to Stuart. She walked towards the dining room, and as usual, Stuart was sitting at the table.
He was reading the financial newspaper with his coffee and toast in front of him. "Good morning, Madam," said Carol. Edie’s mind was still buzzing. She didn’t look as enthusiastic as usual. Nodding, she said, "morning" and walked towards the table.
As soon as Stuart heard Edie’s voice, he raised his eyes. All he could see was anger on her face. He had a worried look on his face and asked her, "What’s wrong?" As she stood there glaring at him, she asked, "Tell me, why I got the role in The White-Love-Song?"
Placing the newspaper on the table, Stuart asked, "Why are you asking me that?" ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"Zoe Anna had the role to play Susan, but then they gave me an audition later. I wasn’t sure why I just thought that they really liked my acting. That was not the case at all. You literally bought it for me, and I got the part, right?"
"Yes."
"Why did you do this?"
"You like performing so much that you don’t even care about the danger that you put yourself in. Therefore, I found one that could guarantee your safety."
"Why didn’t you talk to me about it?"
Stuart could see how hurt Edie was, and he started getting confused, "I thought it would make you happy. You’re a great actress, and I thought it would be a great opportunity for you."
"But, you turned me into the type of person who can get anything as long as you have money. Then, that makes me no different from Zoe Anna."
Frowning, Stuart said, "But it doesn’t matter how you got this role; you did a wonderful job. This is enough, isn’t it?"
"Of course not," her face flushed with different emotions this time. "Do you think money can get you anything. Do you think your money makes you superior? How could you make this decision for me despite my own willingness? You didn’t even ask me before doing it? Do you not have any respect for me?"
Stuart didn’t expect that she would have this kind of reaction. He never thought that doing this would make her so upset. He didn’t want to quarrel, and suddenly, everything went silent.
The dining room fell into an embarrassing silence. Even Carol serving the dishes hid in the kitchen. Taking a deep breath, Edie began to talk slowly, "Maybe it is not your problem. Our values are just too different. I just want to be an average woman. You don’t have to do this for me."
As soon as she was finished talking, she turned around and left. Stuart didn’t have a chance to say anything. The dining room fell into a profound silence again. Mr. Sampson was shocked, and he was at a loss for words. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
He had been serving his young master for more than twenty years. Stuart took over the business of the Yates, whatever happened, and whatever the situation was, no one ever dared to talk to him in this manner.
Was it the end of their marriage? They looked great yesterday. Looking at Stuart’s straight back, Mr. Sampson could see his tolerance for Edie. He felt sorry for him. Stuart was suffering more than anyone really knew.
