Chapter 314: Chapter 314: Slap

Edie was trying to prepare herself mentally, but mostly emotionally, for her role. She had rehearsed the scene over and over again in her mind, pacing nervously back and forth.

Malloy shrieked from the opposite direction of Edie, "Take action!" Everything went surprisingly calm and quiet.

"Who is this woman? Is this the new concubine of the Emperors?" Yetta asked. Her voice was soft and melodious, and her tone contemptuous.

The Emperor spoke, "Yes, doesn’t she look like a beautiful flower. She has a very elegant appearance. Look at her, and she’s so well dressed." He paused and admired her beauty. "Wait until you hear her voice. It’s as sweet as the nightingale."

Hearing the Emperor speak about her in this manner, Yetta was consumed by jealousy. "Yes, isn’t she beautiful? Nice to meet you!" Arrogance and sarcasm came rushing to her voice.

Sally never noticed the sneering words of Yetta. Upon entering, she saluted politely. The room had fallen completely silent at her entrance. Suddenly, everyone in the room hurried to greet her.

Looking at Sally’s beautiful face and knowing how special her spirit was. Yetta despised her. She curiously glanced at her face again and again. Sally’s position was not high, and Yetta’s position was even lower. There wasn’t anything she could do, only watch her. Behind Sally were two servants, and Yetta looked at them. Glancing from one to another. She stared directly at Mae and said, "How can someone this ugly be allowed to enter the palace?" Yetta pointed and snickered.

Sally looked tenser by the second, her face pale. Her lips pursed. "How dare she speak to Mae in this manner! I know, she’s only trying to make trouble for me," she murmured as her eyes went glassy.

Sally didn’t utter a word, and she didn’t want Yetta as an enemy. Yetta immediately saw her weakness. "She insults me with her eyes. Look how she’s looking at me! I order you to slap Sally’s maid!" she said in her half-coquettish, half-bossy way.

Sally looks at Mae as Dora walks over to them. She raises her hand in the air, and Sally stops her from hitting Mae. "Yetta, my servant suffered from an injury when we were children. The Emperor praised her for having such courage." Sally turns to look at the Emperor and pleads with him. "Your Majesty, please?"

He remains silent while he watches. Yetta looks at Sally and then at Mae. She sneers, "You only arrived a few days ago, and you’re already pleading to the Emperor! How dare you!" Yetta stepped forward and slapped Mae’s face so hard her eyes watered.

In the presence of Royalty Mae and the ladies had to kneel before they could stand up. The second Edie has slapped the actress beside her and started to shake. Without even realizing, she shouted, "Ouch! That must have hurt!" fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

Hearing her speak, Malloy looked over from his seat and hollered, "Cut." Malloy tried to stay calm. "Is there something wrong?" he asked.

"I’m sorry! I wasn’t expecting it to be so....." The actress quickly stood up and tried to apologize.

As the crew and cast gathered around her, "Oh no! I don’t want to retake this scene again!" Edie moaned. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Malloy was looking at Edie suspiciously. "What did you say? Do you need to take a break?" he asked.

"No! No!" Edie said, shaking her head. "Can we keep on shooting?"

Appreciation filled Malloy’s eyes as he looked Edie up and down. He waved his hands in the air. "Everything is fine. Take your places, and we’ll resume shooting," he ordered. The cast resumed their positions, and Malloy went back to his seat. "Ready! Action!" he shouted.

"Achoo! Achoo!" Geneva turned to Edie and smiled. She sniffled, her eyes misty. "I’m sorry!" she said apologetically. "I think I’m coming down with a cold."

Edie lifted her head and looked at her. The look on Geneva’s face sent a cold shiver through Edie. There was no fear in it. It was filled with deep and undisguised exultation. Edie couldn’t help thinking, ’It’s bad enough being slapped by her, but for her to insult me!" She opened her mouth about to say something and was interrupted.

"It looks like we have been busy!" The voice was loud and clear, with a hint of coldness in his tone. The cast and the members of the crew turned around and followed the voice. Edie froze and spoke in almost a whisper, "Clyde, why are you here? I thought you weren’t coming until tomorrow!"

Clyde was neatly groomed but unsmiling with an aloof, haughty expression on his face. He was already dressed for his part in the play. He looked like a royal prince.

Malloy stood up quickly and went over to greet him. "You didn’t tell me you were coming today."

"I just arrived, and as soon as I got here, I went straight to the dressing room to get ready. I see you are almost ready for me!" Clyde said.

Clyde was to play the role of Prince Raines, who, in the end, solved the dilemma between Yetta and Mae. Edie thought because of Clyde’s absence, the filming of his role wouldn’t take part today.

Clyde and Malloy talked for a while. They slowly approached the crew, and Clyde studied Edie’s face and noticed it was red and swollen. His eyes turned cold when he moved them from Edie to Geneva and back to Malloy. "Malloy, you’re much more demanding than you used to be!" he said, sounding upset.

Malloy hesitated and said, sounding confused, "What do you mean?"

"It’s a slap scene and look at the results. Look at her face! Do you think she’s the right person for the role of Yetta?" Clyde asked.

Malloy knew Geneva’s acting skills were poor, but he made an agreement with the North family. With respect to their feelings, he agreed, and there wasn’t anything he could do about it now. Malloy stared at Clyde. "This is.....only the first day. It will take her some time to get used to...." He looked a little embarrassed.

Clyde shrugged emphatically and raised his eyebrows, leaving the sentence incomplete. "Time...." The tone of his voice suggested he wanted and expected a suitable reply.

"Give her a day or two...." Malloy started to say before being interrupted by Clyde.

"My time is precious! Do you have any idea how much money I make?" Clyde stood with hands on his hips. "I do you a favor by taking part in your film, and you want to waste my time! It’s her fault!" he says as he points to Geneva.

"What would you like me to do?" Malloy’s voice lowered at the end of the sentence.

"Get a substitute?" Clyde said sarcastically.

"That won’t work. She’s already signed a contract," Malloy explained.

"Contracts can be broken. I’ll pay the penalty! I will not work except this!" Clyde shook his head and started to walk away. "There are many other actresses waiting in line for this role. Replace her! Now!" he shouted.

This role was very important to Geneva, and she had no idea if she would be able to get anymore help from the North family. She started to panic and pleaded with Clyde, "Please give me another chance. I’ll do better, you’ll see!"
