Chapter 315: Chapter 315: Familiar Face

Clyde’s eyes are moving steadily from Malloy to Geneva. He grinned his gorgeous grin and said, "No, I don’t think it’s going to work out!"

His attitude toward them changed instantly. It was literally as if he couldn’t stand the sight of Geneva or Malloy. ’He’s not the man that I thought he was....gentle, always smiling, but modest and harmless. How could he turn around now and be so heartless and cruel? Is Clyde doing this because of me?’ Edie wondered.

"Last month, I saw Geneva getting photographed with one of the masters of the North family." A man who stands beside Clyde said.

Edie assumed the man was Clyde’s assistant, but by the way, they were speaking to one another. It was obvious, and they were friends.

Clyde’s smile disappeared. "Is that right!" A contemptuous look, followed by a still more contemptuous shrug of the shoulders. "A master of the North family, you say!" he said as he turned and stared at Geneva.

"Malloy!" Clyde raises his voice. "If she stays. I go! Is that clear?" He wasn’t asking for anything. He was demanding a response.

Malloy couldn’t stop himself from shaking. "We have an agreement! I don’t understand why you’re so upset?" His tone changed to concern. Malloy did all he could to get Clyde to play the part of Prince Raines in this film. It made the company millions of dollars, and it was only a few days later after making the announcement. If Clyde were to back out, it would be catastrophic for the film. The media and the fans would go ballistic.

Malloy stared at Clyde and asked with uncertainty, "We’ve already started shooting. If we were to do a cast change, it would delay the production of the film." He was using all his efforts to persuade him to stay and keep Geneva.

"There’s a simple solution to our problem. Let Wilma Sara be the substitute for Geneva. She’s young, beautiful, experienced, and well known in the entertainment circle." There was a note of casual arrogance to Clyde’s voice.

"Would Wilma consider being in the film. It is such short notice wouldn’t her schedule be full?" asked Malloy, feeling himself getting excited at even the suggestion.

Clyde says in a calm and reassuring voice, "No need to worry about that!" He sighs and waves his hand in the air dismissively. "I’ll get Wilma to come, and within three days, she’ll be here."

Malloy stood speechless. He looked at Clyde and asked, "Do you really think.."

Clyde interrupted before Malloy had a chance to finish his sentence. "Yes, now tell me, what are you going to do about Geneva?"

Geneva could only hear snippets of the conversation. She tensed, feeling frustrated, and rejected hearing them talk about her so openly. "I’m not listening to this. Don’t be so sure of yourself! You’ll never be able to get Wilma," she mumbles. Geneva rolls her eyes and turns and walks away.

Some of the cast members try to get closer to listen to their conversation. Malloy looks over and sees many of them standing around, looking confused. He shouts and waves his hand in the air. "We’re going to take a ten-minute break."

Edie was feeling discouraged and returned to her dressing room. She entered with her hair covering her face, and no one could see the look in her eyes. "Edie, Are you okay? Is your face still hurting?" Rhonda asks.

"No! I’m fine..." Edie replied.

"She is not okay! Someone go get Edie some ice to put on her cheek," a familiar voice interrupted. "Look at how red and swollen her face is!"

Someone whispered in the dressing room, "Why does Clyde care so much? He deliberately tries to get Geneva fired, and now he’s in here taking care of Edie. Is there something going on between them?"

Rhonda nodded and stood up. "I’ll go get some ice."

Clyde leaned into her face, eyes wild, so close she could feel his breath across her skin. "Was it quite painful when Geneva slapped you?"

Edie took a deep breath and moved back. She looked at Clyde and said. "Mr. Clyde, we only met several times. Why do you care so much?" She spoke in an unfriendly manner.

Clyde never noticed her tone. He laughed. "Do you not remember? I feel a little guilty, and I still owe you a phone."

Edie shook her head and pointed to her cell phone. "Mr. Clyde, as you can see, I have a phone. I don’t need you to buy me another one."

The man who was outside with Clyde was also in the dressing room. He steps forward and smiles. "My, she is a beauty, but terribly stubborn. Isn’t she?"

Edie looked at him with a puzzled look. She had no idea who he was—seeing the expression on her face. The man reaches out to shake Edie’s hand. "My name is Manley Lampson. Very pleased to meet you, Miss. Lara."

Edie nodded her head and said, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Lampson. You look familiar! Have we met before?"

Malloy entered the room and asked, "Geneva’s gone! What’s your plan?" He hesitated and continued. "Without having someone to replace Yetta, the scene can’t be shot," he explained.

Clyde rolled his eyes and looked at Edie. "Is that a problem? Let’s do the next scene." And a smile instantly appeared on his face.

Edie’s brows contracted, and she shook her head in gentle dissent. This was the scene where Mae shows her appreciation to Prince Raines. ’What is he thinking? Is he doing this because I didn’t thank him in person?’ Edie wondered. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Seeing the expression on Edie’s face, Clyde knew exactly what Edie was thinking. "Is that going to be a problem?" he asked.

"Mr. Clyde." Edie took a deep breath and hesitated. "You..."

Clyde put his hands on his hips and said, "What’s the matter? Haven’t you rehearsed the next scene." He sneered.

Manley laughs and looks at Edie, "You guys are funny." Then he turns toward the door. "Come on, Clyde, let’s go!"

As they walked out the door, Edie looked at Clyde with a little bewilderment, wondering, ’What did he mean?’ Of all the things he said, there was a sense of familiarity with him that intrigued her the most.
