Chapter 287: Chapter 287: How Are You?

It was the next day, and Edie still hadn’t told Stuart that she was going to have dinner with Donald and Joanna. She was dreading the thoughts of going out with them because of their previous relationship. Edie waited until five o’clock to call Stuart and tell him where she was going.

When she called, Ivan answered. Edie was a little surprised as the number she called was Stuart’s private number, and usually, Stuart would respond. After Ivan explained why he answered the phone instead of Stuart, Edie found out that the L.N. Group’s headquarters had a significant problem in Europe.

Stuart was at a video conference, and Ivan told her that he would probably have to work late this evening, and he would not be home for dinner. Ivan felt guilty for telling this to Edie, but she was relieved. She quickly said, "It’s okay. Stuart’s work is more important. Don’t say anything to him to interrupt his work."

Donald went directly to the mall, parked his car, and waited to pick Edie up. After she sent her position to Stuart, she looked over at the familiar vehicle that was in front of her. Donald rolled his window down and greeted her. Edie noticed that only Donald was in the car and immediately said, "Where is Joanna?"

"I will explain, just get in the car first," He said anxiously. Edie got into the car because she thought that Joanna was meeting them later. He started the car and drove to one of the main roads and said, "I am really sorry. When I went to the house to pick Joanna up, she received a phone call from her father. It was urgent, so she had to go and meet him. Joanna wanted me to tell you how sorry she was that she couldn’t make it."

Edie was startled and thought, "Did he not tell me that the reason for the dinner was because Joanna wanted to apologize to me? It’s a little strange that she didn’t come!"

Edie remained silent as there was nothing she could because she was already in the car. She did feel a little uncomfortable because there was now only Donald and her having dinner. Luckily they didn’t drive far and went to a nearby restaurant.

While waiting for their food, Edie took the initiative to find something to talk to Donald about and said, "So how is Joanna? You said you were thinking about having a baby, do you have any idea when?"

"She has been excellent, but we have both been very busy with work. So, I’m not sure, but we have thought that maybe soon we will try and have a baby," Donald said, having no compassion in his voice. While he was talking to Edie, his hands were on his lap, and suddenly they clenched into a fist.

Donald couldn’t help but think to himself, "A child? I would never have a child with that bitch! The only woman that I would ever have a baby with is Edie!"

"You said Joanna is very busy? I haven’t heard any news about her for quite some time now. Has she not been working lately? So if you don’t mind me asking, what exactly is Joanna doing now?" Edie asked curiously.

Donald reached over to take a sip of his lemonade and paused for a second and said, "Joanna has been keeping a low profile lately as she has been thinking about working abroad. She is in the midst of contacting Hollywood. So she hasn’t taken on any work recently."

Edie nodded and said, "Well, tell her I said, congratulations. I am happy that she is doing so well in her career. Joanna comes from such a wealthy family, and her acting skills are excellent." Edie was only trying to be polite because she didn’t want to upset Donald. Then she said, "Now that her career is moving forward, she seems to be the perfect wife. Edie felt relieved that things were going so well in Donald’s life. Donald smiled and thanked her. Then Edie said, "I didn’t expect that our relationships would turn out to be so good, but I am very happy for both of us. I am pleased that we have moved on from our past. The only way we can heal is if we can move on and learn from our mistakes."

Donald was just about to say something, but the steaks were placed on the table, and they started to eat. When dinner was finished, Donald went to pay the bill, and Edie went to the lady’s room. After Edie touched up her makeup and prepared to go out, her phone suddenly rang. As she looked at the screen, she noticed it was Scarlet.

Edie answered right away, and Scarlet immediately said, "How are you? We haven’t talked in a while. I’m sorry, I meant to call, but Jason has been keeping me busy."

Edie knew the story between Scarlet and Jason when she was discharged from the hospital. Their relationship was a little complicated. They were seen as a couple, but neither one of them admitted it. Scarlet spent most of her time with Jason, and they were pretty much living together.

If Scarlet wasn’t at Jason’s Villa, then Jason was at Scarlet’s apartment. This was the first relationship that Scarlet has ever been in, and it was Jason’s first serious relationship. Edie was curious, but she tried to talk to Scarlett about it several times, and even Scarlet was confused. So Edie didn’t ask her any more questions.

Edie didn’t want to intrude and gave Scarlet time to figure things out. Then Scarlet suddenly blurted out, "That bastard had an appointment tonight and isn’t here to keep me company. So I thought I would call you and tell you how much I missed you. I might stop by for a visit. Are you at the Villa?"

Edie hesitated for a moment and said, "No, I am having dinner with Donald."

"What?!" and Scarlet’s voice suddenly got louder.

Scarlet quickly sat up on the bed, "Edie! What are you doing? Are you a fool?! Are you actually having dinner with Donald? What a bastard! Did you forget how he treated you? Have you lost your mind? I can’t believe you are with him!"

Edie was scolded by Scarlet and quickly explained, "Joanna and Donald invited me out to dinner because Joanna wanted to apologize for all the things that she has done. As it turned out, Joanna had an urgent call and couldn’t make it. So, unfortunately, there is just Donald and myself. He has changed a lot and even took the initiative to apologize to me."

Before Edie could finish, she was interrupted by Scarlet, "Apologies? Who needs his apology? Edie, you are finally moving on with your life. You shouldn’t forget how he treated you. People don’t change just like that. He is crazy, and you should not be talking to him. I can’t believe you are even considering accepting his apology. You can’t forgive him and let your guard down."

Edie knew that Scarlet was still concerned about her safety, but Donald’s attitude was sincere, "Scarlet, I understand how you feel, but the past is past, and I have to move on."

"Okay, but I remembered something. Donald’s company is Hawk Real Estate Co., Ltd.?" Scarlet suddenly asked.

Edie was somewhat confused, "Yes, why what happened?"
