Chapter 288: Chapter 288: You Need To Be Careful

Scarlet lowered her voice and said, "Our magazine has recently been doing a write up on financial topics and has investigated the current situation of Hawk Real Estate Co., Ltd."

Edie’s heart jumped, and she asked, "What happened?"

"Hawk Real Estate Co., Ltd. has been selling shares rapidly this month and converting its shares into cash. For a long-established family company, the stocks are very critical. This isn’t good because this is the company’s primary assets and earnings. They could very easily go bankrupt. The Hawk Real Estate Co., Ltd. may be in a big financial crisis!" Scarlet explained as briefly as she could.

"Financial crisis? Really! Donald didn’t show any signs of any troubles while we were having dinner. I guess this is his own business, and it has nothing to do with me," Edie said.

Scarlet sighed and said, "You really are a fool. You need to be careful around Donald. He suddenly comes back to admit to his mistakes. Do you think he is up to something, or is he actually being sincere?"

Edie was very confident about this and said, "No, he is living happily with Joanna. He has let go of our past. He seems so happy, and everything went well tonight. They are even thinking about having a baby. So I believe he has finally moved on."

Scarlet had no choice but to say, "Okay, if you think everything is fine, then I won’t say any more about it. I don’t want you to forget, though, that no matter what, always be careful and never let your guard down when you are with Donald. If he does anything to you, then I will kill him!"

Then Edie hung up the phone, and tears came to her eyes as she smiled. She left the lady’s room and returned to her seat, where Donald was waiting for her. Seeing Edie coming towards him, he smiled and said, "Are you ready? I will take you home."

Edie shook her head and said, "No, Joanna will be waiting for you at home. You should go back, or she might get jealous. I can take a taxi." Edie refused; she didn’t want him to drive her home. Although she told Scarlet that she believed Donald had moved on, she still had some precautions in her heart.

Edie hoped that this matter with his business would be settled soon. She also did not want Joanna and Donald to have an argument because of her. Donald’s smile on his face was slightly stiff, but he remained calm. He nodded in agreement and said, "Okay, I won’t drive you home, but please be careful. Joanna has always been afraid of the dark. I will go home and see how she’s doing."

Edie thought, "Donald treats Joanna so well, I am so happy for them. Knowing how much he cares for Joanna makes me feel so much better. I truly believe I am safe, and Donald will not try anything again."

Knowing that they were both so happy made Edie feel relieved. They walked out of the restaurant side by side. She smiled and said, "You are really a good husband now. No wonder so many women wanted to marry you."

Donald could smell Edie’s fragrance of her perfume and felt like leaning towards her and thought, "It has been so long since we have actually sat down and talked, and I can’t remember the last time we have touched. I miss her so much that it’s driving me crazy."

Right at this very moment, he finally had a chance to reach out and touch her as she stood so close to him. Edie smiled at him, but he did not take any action because he was afraid that he would scare her away.

When he heard Edie say that so many women wanted to marry him, Donald asked, "What about you?"

When Edie heard the question, she was a little embarrassed, and she secretly blamed herself for saying too much. With her face flushed, she said, "What I meant was that you are so happy with Joanna, and so many other women wanted you for themselves. I am happy, and so are you, and that’s all that matters."

After she finished speaking, she didn’t wait for Donald to reply. Edie waved goodbye and said, "I am going to the other side of the road to get a taxi. Thank you for offering to take me home. You should hurry back and Joanna."

Donald stopped and watched Edie leave and shouted out, "Okay, but please be careful."

Donald stood on the side of the road, watching Edie as she walked. He is standing under the street light. His face looked pale and thin. Edie was wearing a sea-blue dress. The night wind blew her skirt, like soft waves floating in the ocean. Her hair was a little longer, and her bangs were swept to the side by the wind, revealing her beautiful forehead. The beautiful eyebrows and the brightness in her eyes, Donald couldn’t help but smile.

Donald was disappointed because Edie never turned around to look at him. Then he whispered softly, "Edie, do you know how much I love you?"

Donald stared sadly at Edie, then suddenly, madness filled his eyes. No one could see the expression on his face, but it revealed how deeply in love and how much he longed to be with Edie. Donald stood there for a few more seconds and turned around and got in his car.

He was worried that someone might see how he looked at her. However, when Donald was about to start the car and prepare to leave, he saw a familiar figure. She was coming from a distance and was about to approach Edie. freewebnøvel.coɱ

Donald’s eyes became cold, and his calm eyes were now filled with anger. He was staring at the moving figure, and the hand holding the steering wheel tightened. Then with anger stirring inside of him, he said, "It’s her!"

It was a busy time of night, and Edie was having a difficult time finding a taxi. She had been standing on the side of the road for quite some time, and finally, one was coming towards her. She was just about to flag the cab down when Edie heard a voice coming from behind her, "Miss Lara, would you mind waiting for a minute. There is something that I need to tell you..."

Karen never had a chance to finish her sentence, Edie was just about to turn around, and Karen suddenly felt a firm hand on her shoulder. She immediately stopped talking. There was a chill in Karen’s heart, and she froze where she stood.

As soon as Edie heard the voice, she looked back in confusion. Then she saw Donald and Karen walking side by side. Edie was a little puzzled because Karen had not joined them for dinner and was wondering why she was there. Edie immediately asked, "Karen? Why are you here? Why didn’t you join us tonight?"

Edie started to walk towards them. Donald smiled warmly and lowered his head to ask Karen, "You were worried that I might be drinking, and you came to pick me up? There was no need to worry because Edie and I didn’t have any drinks tonight."

"Yes, we just had something to eat," Edie said and nodded in agreement. Karen looked into Donald’s eyes. Although he smiled warmly, she could see the coldness in his eyes. Karen was standing in between Donald and Edie, and she could feel the tension coming from Donald.

But before she had a chance to say it, Donald quickly interrupted and said, "Karen, did you see Joanna before you came here tonight? Was she the one who sent you to come and pick me up?"

Karen began to tremble as she looked at his face. Donald’s eyes became dark and cold. A deep glance quickly dissipated in the night.

Karen said under her breath, "Joanna, oh my God! Donald is threatening me with her life!"
