Chapter 208: Chapter 208: She Finally Let Go of Her Past
Eddie was having a lot of fun with Scarlet at the resort. Before she met Stuart, they had lived together in an apartment. They had a good relationship and had a great time on their holiday. If Stuart hadn’t called her and tried to get her to come home every day, she would have stayed longer. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
They were finally home, and as the car entered downtown, Scarlet deliberately took a deep breath, "Oh, what a familiar smell of stale air. You would think by now I would be used to it."
Eddie knew that Scarlet was expressing her frustration in a roundabout way, and with a smile, she pushed her, "Scarlet, don’t be angry with me."
Eddie did feel guilty as they were only on their trip for three days.
"Hum, you are now a married woman. It upsets me because you have no time for me anymore."
As she was Eddie’s best friend, Eddie didn’t lie to her about Stuart. She told her about how they decided to get married, but she did keep the Yates Family things a secret. Eddie thought about Stuart and felt that right away, she had married the right man. She hadn’t seen him for three days. She really missed him.
"People always want to get married. It seems as though it can’t be avoided these days." Scarlet drew her mouth back into a sneer, "I will never get married. I don’t mind being alone. I have a successful career, and I’m going to get a promotion with a raise soon. Men are useless to me."
Eddie looked at Scarlet and sighed inwardly. Scarlet was a beautiful woman, but because she was too ambitious, she forced herself to become a tough woman and had never been in a serious relationship before.
"That’s what I used to think. When you meet the right person, you know he’s different from everyone else. You want to spend the rest of your life with him."
After hearing this, Scarlet exclaimed, suddenly realizing she sounded a bit too pleased, "Eddie, are you really in love with Stuart?"
Without any hesitation, Eddie nodded, "Yes, I am."
She had finally let go of her past with Donald, and now she was able to move on. She knew deep down in her heart that Stuart was the man for her and would no longer hold back her feelings for him.
"It is not easy getting along with a rich family. I heard that some rich people forbid their daughters-in-law to go public in showbiz. If that is what they choose, can you accept that?"
As Eddie thought about it and she said, "My career is my business, and I love acting. I will not give it up easily."
Nothing seemed to matter to her, as long as Stuart and she faced it together. Scarlet thought Eddie and Stuart’s relationship was not a good idea at first. Stuart always worried that Eddie was too impulsive. Now she saw how happy Eddie was and believed that they could indeed live a beautiful life. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Scarlet turned her head and cheerfully nodded, "Then I hope you have a great life together. I do know that there will be no marriage for me in the future. I would like to see you have a baby soon, and then I could be the child’s second mother."
They talked and laughed, and the car quickly approached Scarlet’s apartment. Eddie looked at the dilapidated apartment building with great emotion in her eyes. Scarlet saw that she was a bit sentimental and deliberately said, "You had no conscience after you left, I stayed alone by my bed every night, looking forward to you coming back. I had no idea that you were married, but I am very happy for you. Always remember that I will always be here for you and how much I love you."
Eddie felt sorry for Scarlet. They were both alone when they first arrived in America. They agreed to live together until she left.
"Scarlet, why don’t you find another roommate? You’re bound to be lonely there by yourself."
Scarlet waved her hand in the air and said, "No, I couldn’t be bothered finding another strange roommate again, Stuart has the rent all paid for this apartment, I live here for free. I am already satisfied with it. Besides, you don’t have any other family members in the city. So when you find the need to visit, there will always be a place here waiting for you."
Eddie’s eyes began to fill with tears. How could she have such a good friend? Before Scarlet got out of the car, Eddie reached over and hugged her.
"Scarlet, sometimes I’m too busy to take care of you. You have to take care of yourself for me, okay?"
"Don’t worry about me, Mrs. Yates, it’s you that I worry about. I know that you are married and are very happy, but I still do worry about you. Promise me, and I promise you that we will take care of ourselves."
Then they said goodbye. Eddie watched Scarlet’s back disappear in the corridor before she let the driver take her back to the Villa. She had finally made it home and opened the door to a fresh aroma of food.
While Eddie was on the porch, she heard Mr. Sampson’s worried voice coming from the kitchen, "Master, it’s too much salt."
Eddie couldn’t help but laugh. Stuart always had confidence in what she wanted to eat, and he loved to cook for her. Eddie could have never imagined that she would ever feel this way again. The servants were just about to say hello when they saw her, and she quickly made a "hush" sign and tiptoes to the kitchen.
Inside, Stuart looked so handsome, he was wearing an apron that Carol usually wore when she was cooking, his shirt sleeves were rolled up, and he had flour on his face. With, of course, Mr. Sampson standing right beside him. He had accepted his Master’s preference for cooking and was too afraid to help at his Master’s command, so he could only offer advice.
Eddie looked at Stuart chopping, cooking, and stirring the food. He was completely absorbed with his preparation of the meal, and then suddenly, he felt there was someone else in the room. His eyes grew cold, and Stuart wanted to scold the newcomer. He turned around and saw Eddie, and then he turned off the fire.
Stuart pulled her up to his face and looked at her very carefully, "So, you finally decided to come home?" His tone was a little bitter. Eddie’s heart warmed as she watched her husband scramble to cook for her so that she could eat as soon as she got home.
"Of course, I knew my husband was waiting for me," she said with a smile. His lips covered hers in a long warm kiss that left her short of breath. Then Stuart said, "You do taste as sweet as you look."
"Eat first! I’m hungry!" Eddie was blushing and shyly said. Stuart kissed her hand, "Well, we will eat first, then I will eat you. I will show you tonight exactly how much I missed you."
That night, Eddie found out how much he missed her.
