Chapter 207: Chapter 207: Truth Revealed
Donald looked up in exasperation, only to discover it was Karen. She was even angrier than Donald. She shouted, "Donald, are you crazy? What have you done?"
When he saw the look in Karen’s eyes, his anger dissipated a little, and he laughed, "Yeah, I’m crazy! Didn’t you already know?"
Karen had never seen him look like this, and she didn’t know what to do. She was silent, and she looked at him without moving then finally she helped Joanna get up and was getting ready to walk out. Donald immediately stopped them, "Where do you want to go?"
"I am taking Joanna to the hospital."
"You are not allowed to go or..." Donald said as if he was giving her an ultimatum. Karen turned to look at him, and her frown deepened anxiously, "Or what? Do you really want her to die?"
He showed no emotion on his face, "What do I care? Is her death any of my business or yours?"
Karen looked at him, and she knew from his outrage that he had gone insane. There was something mentally wrong with him. She knew she had to be careful what was said to him or she could provoke him. Karen tried to explain, "If Joanna dies, the Bella Family will not let you off the hook. They will make you pay. Now you haven’t inherited Hawk Real Estate Co., Ltd’s property, and if you lose the Bella Family’s support, you will have no hope!" freewebnovёl.ƈom
Seeing the expression on his face changed slightly, Karen had some hope and said, "If there is no Hawk Real Estate Co., Ltd’s real estate, you will be broke. Do you not want to compete with Stuart Yates? Does that mean you don’t want Eddie anymore?"
He looked at her, a flicker of amusement in his cold eyes. He slowly moved his head, looking from Joanna to Karen with suspicion in his mind, "Are you really going to help me?"
"I will help you. No other person in the world would help you more sincerely than me!"
Karen knew that she finally caught Donald’s attention and quickly said, "Don’t you want to know the truth about how you lost your memory? If you let me take Joanna to the hospital, I’ll tell you when I come back."
For some time, he stood in silence, considering whether he should believe Karen or not. She knew he was struggling and said, "Donald, we need to get Joanna to a hospital fast. We are running out of time, and I know if something were to happen to her, you would regret it for the rest of your life."
Finally, Donald said, "Okay, go then, I believe you."
Then he stepped back and opened the door. Karen walked out quickly with Joanna. Donald looked down and saw that there was blood all over the house. His hands were trembling as he looked at them; the blood between his fingers had dried up and turned a horrible shade.
He stared with a look of hopeless helplessness, and his manner had become more nervous. Then he begins to laugh and cry at the same time. He felt as though he really was going crazy.
Donald began to throw everything around him like a madman. Anything he could reach, hit the ground, picture frames, dishes, plants, vases, and chairs. At last, he lifted the crystal tea table in the living room and threw it onto the floor. The table broke into many pieces and scattered across the floor.
Karen took Joanna immediately to a trusted friend who was a doctor. She never waited to see if Joanna was okay, she came back to see Donald, but it was too late. The whole living room was torn apart. She rushed over, grabbed Donald by the collar, and dragged him to his feet, "Donald get control of yourself. Do you know what you’re doing?"
Donald removed Karen’s hand and sat back on the sofa.
"Look at what you’ve become. Joanna would have died if I hadn’t shown up when I did."
"So what? What are you trying to say? Are you telling me that Joanna is innocent and had no part of my memory loss? Donald asked coldly. Karen took a deep breath and sighed, "You want to know the truth, I will tell you. Ask me whatever you want."
His eyes were fixed on her, and there was a pathetic expression of sorrow and hope in it. She sat down beside him and slowly spoke, "A year ago, when your father died, you were hit hard and not long after you were diagnosed with a brain tumor. Eddie was working on a movie at the time, and you didn’t want to notify her of your tumor. When you got to America, Joanna visited patients in the same hospital. She found out about your condition and offered to stay to take care of you."
"After the operation, you were so weak that you were unable to stay in touch with Eddie. Joanna came to the ward every day to visit you. I don’t know what she did, maybe she enhanced the medicine and let you sleep because you were only awake when she was in the room."
"She told you that you had surgery and that you only have a year to live. She said that she asked you if you still wanted to be with Eddie. You said that you didn’t think you were worthy of Eddie, and you gave up. I don’t know what she did during the hypnosis. After you woke up, you completely forgot about Eddie and thought Joanna was your girlfriend." freeweɓnøvel.com
As he listened to Karen, Donald’s hands trembled. He opened his mouth to speak and then shut it again, shaking his head. He didn’t know if what she was saying was the truth. Vivid memories come flashing back.
He was trying to remember and put his hand on his head. Then he got a pounding headache and a burning feeling in his throat, "You are not telling me the truth? You are all lying to me!"
"Donald, calm down! Karen tried to calm him down, but with his irrational behavior, he struck her across the face. Her nose immediately started to bleed.
Karen got angry, wiped her nose, grabbed Donald by the collar, and said, "Donald! Look at what the hell you have become! If Eddie saw you like this, do you think she would still love you?"
Donald was so surprised by what she said, he stared at Karen, shocked by her bitter tone in her voice. Her words seemed to wake him up. He nervously looked up at her and said, "Yeah, I can’t let Eddie see me like this. Karen, could you help me? Take me to someone who can help."
His face was contorted in agony as he reached over to touch Karen’s hand. She looked at him and then looked away and cleared her throat, embarrassed to feel the tears in her eyes. As she expected, the worst happened. The after-effects of the forced hypnosis began to show, and Donald’s mind was already showing signs of a split personality.
"Okay, I will help you. I will take you to a specialist."
He made up his mind, too, and at this point, something should be known to her.
