Chapter 100: Lord of Lust and Sin [Part 5]
Cindy was watching as Richard was dragged into one of the rooms, despite carrying the title of Richard’s "Lover", she didn’t really care when he was getting dragged around by women.
After all, it was her decision to put that kind of punishment on Richard.
She hesitated a bit when she saw the long line of witches that immediately formed outside the room but decided to ignore it.
Richard won’t die from that, in fact, he could easily sleep with women 24/7 for a whole month if he wanted to.
The only reason there was a hard limit on the number of witches he slept with daily was due to his "mental health".
No matter how great Richard’s libido was, his mind was not that of a sex fiend, he may have some rather unsavory desires from time to time but that was normal. Even women get some wild fantasies, much less a man who has to live with attractive women 24/7.
The fact that Richard was not spending his whole day living a debaucherous life proved that he had a pretty strong will.
Cindy shook her head and turned away from the scene.
If Richard loses control, she would immediately know. When that happens she could just extend his punishment for as long as needed.
Of course, the nightly activities he had to do with the local witches was not part of the punishment. Even Richard would break if he isn’t given time to release his desires.
"Let’s go"
Cindy left the hallway leading the group of witches who were carrying the still unconscious Serenity.
As this happened, Morgana was not in her usual spot by the pool.
She had been given the freedom to travel and she was now walking along a bustling street in a nearby city.
B city is a famous tourist destination in the country and is well known for its cold temperature that made it an iconic vacation spot during summer.
But summer had already passed and it was currently near the rainy season.
Fortunately, the rains seemed to have come late, Morgana recalled that some of the witches talked about a meteorological phenomena that causes a reduction in overall rainfall.
Maybe that was the reason for the lack of rain?
Yet even with a lack of rain, the moisture in the city was not really all that low.
Despite rainfall being low, the specific climate in the city was special as it catches clouds due to its altitude.
Even a "sunny day" could suddenly turn rainy for a few minutes due to a cloud formation passing by.
Because of that, the streets, despite being under the direct heat of the sun still looked a bit damp.
It didn’t help that the morning was plagued with a thick mist, a famous thing for the city. fгeewebnovёl.com
Morgana had been born, raised and lived for centuries in a country that had a very gloomy atmosphere.
Much like B city, Morgana spent a LOT of time under cloudy weather but unlike B city, her home country had four seasons.
The three seasons summer, autumn and fall should have been a bit dry but unfortunately, maybe the ancient Gods and mystical beings hated the nation or maybe because it was the nation that gave birth to Merlin, the three seasons that should have been bright and cheerful were always overcast with a sense of gloom.
Walking through B city early in the morning gave a similar air to London, a familiar feeling that made Morgana feel a sense of belonging to the city but there was a distinct "flavor" a different air that pervaded the city that did not exist in her hometown.
It wasn’t the rancid smells that came from the badly maintained sewage system that would come out in certain spots, nor was it the rotting smell of trash heaps hidden within the darker corners of the city.
The land was not as bone chillingly cold, but it had the same air yet there was a different atmosphere.
People were still rushing about, workers going walking quickly to clock in, students happily heading for school and various drivers, riders and other workers already busy.
The morning fog that had turned to smog due to the abundant traffic that released too much gas into the damp city smog was also not it.
Morgana spent her whole morning looking for that different feeling.
By the time noon came, the sun was already high up in the sky and the fog had vanished.
The noise of traffic echoed loudly as cars honked their horns, a few traffic enforcers were handing out tickets to local public utility vehicles called jeepneys that had started to unload passengers in an unloading zone...
The city was chaotic just like any modern city would be but there was a weird sense of calm.
The country was not an advanced one, Morgana expected more chaos but aside from drivers honking their horns and the sound of peddlers there was not really too much chaos around her.
People kept to themselves and the peddlers did not shout loudly- of course, that is only if you don’t look at their goods.
The moment you make eye contact with them or their goods, the peddlers start doing their job.
Was it a law?
Or was it to avoid getting charged for being a nuisance?
The city was not as well managed as London or other cities she had been to but it was managed enough that only the evils of nature were causing problems.
The trash heaps she saw early in the morning were already collected but the morning misty had made the spot damp and garbage water had left a mark making the spot incredibly stinky.
Many of the signs, streetlamps and traffic lights were functional but covered in a layer of dust or had signs of rust on their exposed metal parts.
The spaghetti cables meters above the city streets, electric cables that were exposed to the elements had been tangled up by years of wind.
Yet even in such a state, the city still looked well organized, the buildings were all well maintained, Morgana had entered a few and found an amazing world hidden behind mysterious staircases that hide large restaurant spaces and bars.
A small unassuming staircase that was open led to a large bistro on the second floor, an office space on the third that had a dentistry, law firm, make-up studio and printing shop. While the final fourth floor led to a large disco hall with an open bar, though the bar was empty it was open and the smell of alcohol from the night of festivities before was still in the air.
That was what she saw in a small building along a famous street that leads up to a large mall at the top of a small hill.
Outside, the building looked old and worn, thick dust covered its windows and one could see the years of rain that washed away some of the dust only to get dried and leave a stain after.
Almost all of the buildings had the same look, the older a structure was, the deeper the stains became.
Some structures have fully tinted windows which would make you wonder why they would even have windows if one could not see into them anyways?
But that only created a very interesting atmosphere the moment you find a wonderful and interesting space within these old buildings.
A small staircase that leads to a basement floor of a building could open up to either a large market place or an eatery that had been doing business in the same spot for years.
The city had big open and eye-catching attractions but walking through the city and exploring to find some unassuming yet very interesting spots was like walking through a mystical garden. freewёbnoνel.com
You didn’t know what you’ll find and as Morgana entered the sixth building she had visited today she realized-
"That’s what it was..."
Morgana vanished from the place where she had entered, no one noticed her vanish and she appeared in the nearby park still avoiding anyone’s attention.
"Creativity..."
Morgana found what made this place different from her home country.
The weird familiar yet unfamiliar feeling did not come from the climate- it came from the way the people lived.
Because the city had little land, many of the businesses had to look for spaces in places that was not the "best" for their purposes.
A bistro hidden on a second floor with no signage?
A dentists office hidden by a flight of stairs?
In her home country, such a business would fail and would likely go bankrupt within a month but here?
She found many places that were not only surviving, they were thriving.
After seeing how the customers acted, how the people lived, she realized that the reason she felt a certain air of familiarity was because the people lived a lot like the fae whom she had missed so dearly.
Despite being mystical beings, the fae were also heavily antagonized and hunted down.
They lived in small hidden places all over the nation.
Friends of the fae would have to go through many secret passages just to meet them and that was what made this city feel familiar.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the non-mystic folk, a second world existed, away from the chaos but maintaining its own special atmosphere just inches away from it.
Like magic, the bistro on the second floor was separated from the chaos of the world through a small flight of stairs that could barely fit one person moving through them.
They did not use magic but were able to capture the essence of a "hidden space" through circumstance and connection.
"I want this"
Morgana smiled as she gazed upon the city, the meaning behind her words, only she knew.
