Chapter 581: Chapter 580: We Both Need Time (4)
Bella Acker’s body stiffened, not daring to move again.
Damian’s slightly hoarse voice sounded, "When did you wake up?"
Seeing that he was awake, Bella Acker first removed his hand from her waist, sat up, and said, "Just woke up. Why haven’t you gone back yet?"
Damian also sat up but seemed to have a bit of a headache, frowned slightly, and clicked his tongue before saying, "Are you hungry? I’ll make you something to eat." Saying this, he lifted the covers, got out of bed, and walked to the kitchen on the dining room side.
Bella Acker opened her mouth, initially wanting to say it wasn’t necessary, but her stomach grumbled first.
During the time she was taking care of Aunt Sienna, she not only didn’t rest well, but also ate little due to lack of appetite. Now, after a good long sleep, she was indeed hungry.
Bella Acker sighed and got up as well.
She first tiptoed up to the loft, found Ethan still asleep, then went down to the dining room kitchen.
When Damian saw her come in, he opened the fridge and took out two eggs, saying, "The vegetables have been sitting too long, they’re no good. We’ll have to make do with some noodles tonight." Saying this, he cracked the eggs into a bowl, checking they were still good before stirring them with chopsticks.
"Okay." Bella Acker stood at the kitchen door, responding softly to his words.
They didn’t speak again; the quiet kitchen was filled only with the bubbling sound from the pot.
Looking at his tall, broad back, Bella Acker felt a twinge of bitterness in her heart.
The atmosphere between them now was really too strange. Obviously, they hadn’t reconciled, yet there was an ambiguous connection.
Why was Damian doing this?
Did he not want to lose her, but also wasn’t ready to make the final decision? Was he planning to keep things ambiguous like this?
Bella Acker lowered her gaze, her hand subconsciously covering her lower abdomen.
It had only been a little over ten days since their impulsive afternoon, not even twenty days, could the doctor have made a mistake?
Though she was indeed in her ovulation period those days, was it possible she got pregnant from that one time with Damian? Even if... even if it wasn’t just once, it shouldn’t have been so coincidental, right?
As Bella Acker thought about it, the more uncertain she felt inside.
Her monthly cycle was always very punctual; by tomorrow, she should have it. If not...
A bitter smile tugged at Bella Acker’s lips. Why is it that the timing of their child is always so off?
Just then, Damian glanced back and caught her bitter smile; he frowned almost imperceptibly and said, "What’s wrong? Really hungry?"
Bella Acker blinked, coming back to herself, and nodded, "Hmm, a little bit."
"These noodles need to be cooked a little longer, just wait a bit more." Damian said, "Haven’t you been eating properly lately? It’s one thing on set, but what about at the hospital? The meals I brought over weren’t to your taste?"
"It’s not that they weren’t to my taste, it’s just... just that I haven’t had much of an appetite, everything tastes bland and makes me want to throw up." Bella Acker said, "Maybe it’s due to lack of sleep, it should get better after some time."
"When’s the last time you looked in the mirror?" Damian’s brow furrowed.
Bella Acker was taken aback again, "No, I have to put on makeup for acting, so I look in the mirror every day."
"Then you can’t tell you’ve lost a significant amount of weight?"
When they first met, she was very thin. At fifteen, she probably weighed just over seventy pounds. It had taken him five years to finally help her put on a little weight, and now she’d lost so much again.
Watching her made Damian’s heart ache.
