Chapter 579: Chapter 578: We Both Need Time (2)
In every aspect, he was exceptionally outstanding, destined to be pursued and admired by many.
But he had never experienced love; before meeting Bella Acker, he didn’t even understand what love was, or how to love someone.
He loved her and wanted to possess her solely. This intense possessiveness sometimes even seemed incredible to him.
However, he didn’t know how to control himself; he could only explore step by step, gradually learning that loving someone requires tolerance, patience, compromise, and even pleading.
They fell in love with each other when neither had learned how to love.
First love is always bittersweet yet heartwarming, but rarely does it have a happy ending.
Whether it was because Aunt Sienna was gone or other accumulated reasons, Bella Acker suddenly felt physically and mentally exhausted, realizing she perhaps needed to calm down and think carefully about what she truly wanted.
Damian Sinclair listened to her words, his fingers tightening slightly on the steering wheel, and after a moment, he said, "It won’t happen again."
His voice was deep and firm, carrying a kind of convincing power.
Bella Acker’s heart trembled slightly; it was somewhat sour and painful.
They fell into silence again, and not a word was spoken until the car stopped in front of the orphanage.
Bella Acker opened the car door, preparing to carry the sleeping Ethan out of the car, when Damian Sinclair said, "You get out, I’ll do it."
Although Ethan was small, he was actually quite chubby, making him quite heavy to carry.
Bella Acker glanced back at Damian Sinclair and, not insisting further, got out of the car and stepped aside.
Damian Sinclair bent down to carry out the sleeping Ethan, who looked like a little pig.
Ethan was in a deep sleep; after being picked up, he snuggled further into Damian Sinclair’s arms, stretched out his chubby little hand to embrace one of his arms, and murmured vaguely, "Daddy."
Damian Sinclair froze, and Bella Acker paused for a moment too, whispering, "Ethan was abandoned when he was three, so he should have a faint memory of his parents."
"I see," Damian Sinclair said, "If he’s willing, I can take him as my godson."
Damian Sinclair’s godson—many wealthy families in Creston would love to offer their sons to take on this role. Yet here, he mentioned so casually about making Ethan his godson.
"I don’t agree," Bella Acker averted her gaze, thinking she considered Ethan as a younger brother. If Damian became Ethan’s godfather, then what would that make her? Besides, her seniority would inexplicably be lowered by a notch.
Damian Sinclair looked at her, "Why not?"
"I just don’t agree," Bella Acker changed the subject, "It’s windy outside; if you’re not going to carry Ethan inside, give him to me instead."
Damian Sinclair had no choice but not to ask anymore and carried Ethan into the orphanage.
Ethan used to share a room with Aunt Sienna, but since Aunt Sienna had just left, taking him to that room to sleep didn’t seem appropriate.
Damian Sinclair turned and carried Ethan directly to the room in the attic.
Bella Acker didn’t follow up but went into Aunt Sienna’s room instead.
The once warm place turned cold and empty in an instant because the person was gone.
Bella Acker’s heart began to ache again. She lifted her head to force back her tears and then walked over to open the nightstand drawer.
Inside the drawer was a thick photo album, with a passbook pressed beneath it, both of which Aunt Sienna seemed to have preserved well.
Bella Acker took both items out, walked to the bed, and sat down to start flipping through the album.
