Chapter 569: Chapter 568: Awkwardness and Ambiguity (2)
Bella looked at the extra pig’s trotter in her bowl and turned her head to look at Damian.
Damian continued eating with a straight face, not even glancing her way.
Bella also withdrew her gaze and silently ate the pig’s trotter.
What exactly is going on between these two?
Wait a minute, could the secret relationship Ms. Young mentioned be the one between Bella and President Sinclair?
Seriously, why can’t you go public with a boyfriend who has such a background as President Sinclair? Having a boyfriend like that would basically be like having cheat codes in a game, right?
Bella is really low-key. Even with a boyfriend like that, she started acting from supporting roles, and she’s so low-key, polite, and good-tempered that you can’t tell she has any background at all.
Judy Zimmerman silently grumbled in her heart while quietly giving herself a pat on the back. She felt it was extremely wise for her to agree to be Bella’s assistant back then.
The three of them awkwardly finished lunch in a strange atmosphere, and Nanny Lloyd hadn’t returned from doing the laundry yet.
Damian had things to do in the afternoon, and after giving some instructions to Nanny Lloyd, he went to the director’s office before leaving.
Just after he left, Elaine Vaughn and Sharon Cheney arrived at the hospital.
It seemed that Elaine had heard Cynthia Young mention something about the hospital, so she notified Sharon to come over together to see if there was anything they could help with.
However, Aunt Sienna was now lying in bed, mostly in a stupor. With Nanny Lloyd there for daily care, there wasn’t much for others to do besides comforting Bella.
Elaine didn’t stay long before she went off to handle some matters, leaving only Sharon at the hospital.
Bella was feeling very down and didn’t want to speak even while sitting next to Sharon.
Sharon patted the back of her hand and comforted her, saying, "This is also a release for Sienna, don’t be sad."
"Okay." Bella responded softly, "Godmother, wouldn’t it be great if people didn’t have to die?"
Without parting through death, there wouldn’t be so much sadness.
"Silly girl, if people didn’t die, everyone would turn into monsters, and there wouldn’t be enough space on Earth," Sharon said softly. "Life and death, reincarnation—it’s all a natural law. Just like I will die someday, you will too; it’s the same for everyone."
"Godmother, I don’t want you to die either," Bella’s eyes welled up with tears again.
"Silly girl," Sharon pinched her cheek and let out an almost inaudible sigh.
Hearing Bella say this, she actually felt quite moved. For so many years, there hadn’t been anyone around who cared for her like this.
The two of them sat together silently when suddenly the door to the ward opened from outside.
Mrs. Sinclair stood at the doorway with a stern expression. When Bella saw her, she got up in a daze and said, "Mrs. Sinclair..."
"Come out. I have something to ask you," Mrs. Sinclair said, suppressing her anger and trying to maintain her composure.
Sharon stood up with her, frowning slightly at the aggressive Mrs. Sinclair and said, "Ma’am, can’t you say whatever you have to say here?"
"Who are you?"
"I’m Bella’s godmother." Sharon extended her arm slightly, protectively in front of Bella.
Mrs. Sinclair suppressed her temper and said, "I’m looking for her, not you. Ms. Acker, I have something to say to you." With that, she turned and walked into the corridor.
Sharon’s frown deepened, and Bella said, "Godmother, it’s okay. That’s Damian’s mom. I’ll go talk to her."
"Damian Sinclair’s mother?" Sharon looked worried. "She doesn’t look friendly. You’d better not meet her alone."
