Chapter 568: Chapter 567: Awkwardness and Ambiguity

Bella lowered her gaze, pulling her hand away from his palm, wiping away her tears, and said, "Damian, thank you for comforting me."

"Do you really need to be so polite with me?" Damian Sinclair frowned. "I’m not comforting you; I just want you to know that no matter what happens, you have me."

Bella looked up at him, dazed.

"Didn’t you remember anything I told you yesterday afternoon?" Damian’s face looked a bit displeased.

Recalling what happened yesterday afternoon made Bella blush awkwardly.

She averted her eyes and said softly, "I... I was drunk and don’t remember anything."

Damian chuckled, "Ms. Acker..." He was honestly at a loss for words.

He drank a lot yesterday too, but he remembered everything that happened. He remembered what he said to her and what she said to him.

He was prepared to face it all, but then she turned around and said she was drunk and forgot everything.

It felt like a scorching ember suddenly drenched with a bucket of ice water. The sizzling disappointment was something only he felt.

Bella wasn’t lying; she genuinely had no memory due to her blackout, but hearing Damian’s tone made her inexplicably guilty.

She secretly glanced at Damian’s face from the corner of her eye.

Right now, Damian was too frustrated to talk to her, and he went to get hot water by himself.

Bella only let out a sigh of relief once he left the room.

She couldn’t quite figure out what Damian’s actions meant. She had harbored some hopeful thoughts but was afraid of misunderstanding again, so she didn’t dare to think too much.

With Aunt Sienna’s condition worsening, she didn’t have the energy to sort out her romantic feelings, so she chose to let it be for now.

Bella sighed. The door to the hospital room opened, and she thought Damian had returned, but it was Judy who entered.

Judy walked in carrying packed meals and asked, "Where’s President Sinclair? Did he leave?"

"He went to get hot water," Bella shook her head.

Judy paused and said, "Bella, you and President Sinclair... isn’t he afraid of being photographed by paparazzi and exposed online?"

Bella hesitated for a moment, "He doesn’t seem to mind. Maybe because, even if the paparazzi take photos of him, they probably wouldn’t dare report it without his consent."

"True. Even if the paparazzi caught something, the magazine would likely communicate with Damian Sinclair’s assistant beforehand," Judy said, placing the meal boxes on the table, "I wasn’t sure if President Sinclair and Nanny Lloyd have eaten, so I bought extra."

"They probably haven’t eaten yet." Bella’s words trailed off as Damian returned with the hot water kettle.

She turned to look at him, and he deliberately looked away.

Is he still angry?

With Judy present, Bella couldn’t say anything, and besides, she truly didn’t remember what he had said yesterday afternoon.

Judy noticed the subtle tension between the two and quickly tried to smooth things over, "Food is essential; Bella, President Sinclair, let’s eat first."

"Alright."

Bella went over first, and Judy handed Damian a pair of disposable chopsticks along with a portion of rice.

Damian took the chopsticks and sat down next to Bella, eating in silence.

Judy sat across from them, looking at Bella and then at Damian, feeling the awkward and subtle atmosphere.

Bella also ate quietly, only picking at the vegetables with her chopsticks.

Suddenly, there was a piece of pork in her bowl.
