Chapter 566: Chapter 565: Relapse
Bella nodded, and the two of them skipped the meal and drove straight to the hospital.
Judy Zimmerman suddenly asked, "Oh, right, tomorrow is the drama school exam day. Are you still going?"
Bella Acker paused for a moment before saying, "If Aunt Sienna’s condition isn’t optimistic, I must stay in the hospital to accompany her through the last journey. The drama school... I’ll take the exam next year." She had attended several tutoring classes for the exam and practiced questions whenever she had time, often staying up until two or three in the morning. She had put in so much effort and hard work, only to end up unable to take the exam due to some unexpected incidents.
She felt that fate was somewhat unfair to her.
Both of them fell silent, and the car finally stopped at the hospital entrance.
Judy Zimmerman said, "I’ll go park the car, you go up first."
"Okay." Bella Acker responded and got out of the car, rushing towards the inpatient department.
The hospital was crowded during the day, and Bella Acker was in such a hurry that she bumped into someone, "I’m sorry, I’m sorry."
The person she bumped into glanced back at her but said nothing.
Bella Acker rushed past without waiting for the elevator, taking the stairs instead.
She rushed to the ward, only to find it empty. She ran back to the nurse’s station, "Excuse me, where is the patient in bed 26?"
"In the emergency room for resuscitation." The nurse was very busy and replied without looking up.
Bella Acker didn’t have time to say thank you and immediately ran to the emergency room.
Nanny Lloyd was waiting outside, and when she saw Bella running over, she approached immediately, "Ms. Acker, you’re here."
"Yes." Bella Acker glanced at the light indicating ongoing resuscitation and asked, "Nanny Lloyd, how long has Aunt Sienna been in there?"
"It’s been over twenty minutes," Nanny Lloyd said. "Ms. Acker, you’re exhausted from running; have a seat here first."
"I’m fine." At this moment, Bella Acker couldn’t care less about herself; she kept her eyes fixed on the emergency room door, feeling very anxious inside.
Aunt Sienna had been resuscitated several times recently, possibly... her life might indeed be nearing its end.
Bella Acker bit her lower lip, clutching the strap of her purse, her eyes never leaving the emergency room.
Judy Zimmerman arrived, nodding to Nanny Lloyd in greeting.
"Bella, I’ve spoken to Ms. Young. She said you can take your annual leave early these couple of days, and she’ll negotiate with Director Simons about postponing your scenes in ’Life and Death’."
Upon hearing this, Bella Acker turned to look at Judy, her eyes red.
Judy patted her on the shoulder.
Their interaction was more like friends than a celebrity and assistant.
As time ticked by, the resuscitation light finally went out, and the emergency room doors opened.
Director Warren came out with two expert doctors. Bella Acker immediately stepped forward, "Doctor, how is Aunt Sienna?"
"Are you a family member? We’ve done everything we could." It was Director Warren’s first time seeing Bella Acker, "Try to spend as much time as possible with the patient in the remaining time."
Bella Acker’s body stiffened, "Doctor, can you tell me... how much time is left?"
"It’s hard to say," Director Warren replied, "take care." With that, he left with his team.
Bella Acker looked a bit dazed; after holding on for so long, the final moment had finally arrived.
The nurse wheeled Aunt Sienna out, and Bella Acker took two steps forward, "Aunt Sienna... Aunt Sienna, I’m here."
"Bella..." Aunt Sienna weakly squinted at her.
"Aunt Sienna, it’s me." Bella Acker held her hand, walking alongside the gurney, "Aunt Sienna, don’t speak. I’ll stay right here with you, I won’t go anywhere."
