Chapter 558: Chapter 557: For Her Own Happiness Only
Bella looked up at her.
Aunt Sienna smiled with some effort and said, "Don’t think too much, don’t worry about anyone else’s feelings, just fight for yourself one more time."
"But..." Bella hesitated.
But the grudges between the two families are still there, and Cecilia Lynch’s child is still there. Can the two of them ignore these issues?
"No buts." Aunt Sienna said, "Just fight for your own happiness one more time, don’t worry about anything else. Bella, only when you are happy, can I leave with peace of mind."
"Where are you going? Damian and I are both here, where can you go?" Bella felt a twinge in her heart, forcing a smile, "Aunt Sienna, let’s not talk about this anymore, you should sleep now."
"Alright, you should sleep early too." Aunt Sienna said as she closed her eyes.
She actually couldn’t sleep because of her stomach ache, but she still kept her eyes closed, pretending to have already fallen asleep.
Bella stayed by her bedside for a while longer, only then crawling into the bed beside her.
Lying on the bed, her mind was filled with the news she had just heard and the words Aunt Sienna had just said.
She kept thinking until she didn’t even know when she fell asleep.
Early the next morning, Nanny Lloyd came to take over. Seeing her, Bella opened her mouth as if to ask something, but swallowed the words back.
Bella said with a slight smile, "Nanny Lloyd, thank you."
"It’s what I should do. Ms. Acker, this is the breakfast I brought. Have some before you go to work." Saying this, she opened the box she brought.
The box for breakfast was very insulating, and when opened, the preserved egg and lean meat porridge was still steaming, clearly not something bought from those breakfast shops outside.
Nanny Lloyd served a bowl of porridge to Bella, who took a spoonful. Just as the porridge entered her mouth, her body stiffened slightly.
The taste was all too familiar; it was Damian’s handiwork. He liked to add a bit of crab paste when making preserved egg and lean meat porridge.
Bella clenched the spoon in her hand, "Nanny Lloyd, this... this porridge..."
"Made at home. Does it taste good?" Nanny Lloyd asked, turning around.
"Yes, it’s delicious." Bella lowered her eyelids, her nose tingling, but this time she didn’t cry, just quietly finishing a bowl of porridge.
Aside from yesterday’s dinner where she focused on eating to avoid awkwardness, it seemed like it had been a long time since she’d properly had a meal.
The familiar taste filled her mouth, warming her heart as though even her empty heart had been filled with some warmth.
"Ms. Acker, let me get you another bowl." Nanny Lloyd said as she came to take the bowl from her hand.
"No... there’s no need." Bella, somewhat hasty, put down the bowl and picked up her bag, "I should go to work now, Nanny Lloyd, thank you for today as well. Ethan, come on, say goodbye to Aunt Sienna and Aunt Lloyd."
"Aunt Sienna, Aunt Lloyd, bye-bye." Ethan said with his little backpack.
"Be good at school, okay?"
"Okay." Ethan nodded firmly, "Aunt Sienna, be good at the hospital too."
"Alright."
Hearing the child speak, the three adults all laughed.
"Aunt Sienna, Nanny Lloyd, we’re leaving now." Bella said as she held Ethan’s hand and left the ward, finally letting out a heavy sigh of relief.
"Bella, what’s wrong?" Ethan looked up at her.
"Nothing." Bella smiled, "Let’s go, I’ll take you to kindergarten first."
She just hadn’t figured out Aunt Sienna’s suggestion from last night, nor had she fully sorted out her emotions.
So when she encountered people and things related to Damian, she instinctively felt a bit flustered.
