Chapter 559: Chapter 558: Sinister Intentions

Bella took Ethan out of the hospital just as Judy Zimmerman drove up to the entrance.

They first took Ethan to the kindergarten, then headed to the filming location of "Life and Death."

At the set, the crew members were already busy with their work.

"Good morning, everyone." Bella smiled and greeted everyone.

"Good morning, Bella." The staff nearby responded with smiles, "There’s steamed buns and porridge over there."

"I’ve already eaten. You all carry on, I’ll go get makeup and change clothes first."

Since it was a modern drama, the makeup process was not as troublesome as filming a historical drama.

Whether it was due to the crew having ample funds or Director Simons showing her special care, in any case, Bella didn’t have to squeeze in with everyone else in the big dressing room this time and had a two-person dressing room instead.

Bella didn’t have much to shoot this morning, and afterwards, she had to go shoot a small magazine cover.

Cynthia Young was building her image starting from small and niche civilian brands, aiming for her to have a relatable and grounded public persona.

As the third female lead, Bella had only three scenes with the male lead played by Archer Quinn in the movie. One was when her boyfriend received an undercover mission, and the captain came over to explain some things, encountering her then. Another was when her boyfriend’s undercover identity was exposed, and she rushed over to confront the captain. The last was after all tasks were completed, the captain deliberately visited the family of his comrade, and she stood by the door watching him silently, with a photo of her deceased boyfriend behind her. She looked at the captain and then closed the door expressionlessly.

In the end, she never forgave the captain who caused her boyfriend’s death, whether it was selfishness or lack of moral courage, she lost the person she loved the most and couldn’t forget or let go.

And the scene to be filmed today was the second one, a crucial scene for her in "Life and Death."

The crew was all set, and Bella and Archer Quinn had finished their makeup, standing in their places.

Director Simons looked at the two through the camera and spoke through his megaphone, "Alright, props team get ready. Control your emotions, three, two, one, action!"

"Honey!" Bella reached out, rushing forward to get into the fire to save him, but people around held her tightly.

Archer Quinn stepped forward with visible grief in his expression, "I’m sorry, I couldn’t get him out."

"Sorry?" Bella turned to look at him, hatred twisting her gaze, "Saying sorry doesn’t bring him back to life! Why didn’t you save him? Why weren’t you the one to trigger the bomb? Why was it him?! Why was it him! Ah!"

She cried out in a hoarse voice, tears streaking down her ashen face, looking both wretched and pained.

The captain played by Archer Quinn just stood there letting her hit him, his posture straight like a pine, only speaking when her emotions calmed a little, "I assure you, his sacrifice won’t be in vain."

"Cut! Okay, we’ll do this take again," Director Simons said. "Archer, hold back your emotions a bit; the captain, no matter how much he grieves inside, shouldn’t show too much. Bella, your emotions unfolded nicely, but in the end, your gaze should be filled with more hate."

Director Simons was quite strict with his standards, and it ended up being shot three times before he finally nodded in satisfaction.

With this scene done, Bella’s shooting for the day was over.

"Bella, do you have any engagements this afternoon?" Archer Quinn asked with a smile.

"There’s a magazine cover in the morning, and in the afternoon, I have to go for training."

Bella was speaking when suddenly someone said, "Bella, someone’s looking for you."
