Chapter 6: The Quest

The conversation effectively ended with Belva agreeing to be loyal to Ray in exchange for vengeance.

She knew that what she was going through was probably stepping into another hell, but so what?

She only desired revenge, which was now presented to her.

Her so-called honor and integrity had long been stripped away by the rottingness of this world.

"Your expression seemed to have changed for the better." Ray smiled when he saw that the dullness in her eyes regained some color.

"Seeing your face just makes it go back to terrible." Belva rolled her eyes, no longer putting up the maid act. The truth was that she was indeed fearful of death moments ago.

However, it wasn’t because she was afraid of death. What she was afraid of was that she might lose the chance to take revenge.

"My face makes you sad? You really should get an eye doctor to check. I’m clearly very good-looking." Ray glanced at the windows and pretended to check his reflection.

But to be honest, he didn’t care about his appearance. He cared about the first quest.

The quest required him to basically act like a lunatic and to throw away any fame that the Carrion Household had.

If the incident were to be reported to the Marquis through Belva’s mouth, then he would die before the main story even began. Therefore, he had to make sure to rope Belva to his side regardless of the means.

Only then could he be reassured that Robert Carrion wouldn’t know about his misdeed.

After all, the first quest only said to appear in a crowd.

It was never specific which crowd or the location. In other words, he could just go on a public street that wasn’t too popular and do the act.

As for why he needed Belva, she would be his alibi. And because Robert wouldn’t know about the contract changer, the former would definitely believe Belva’s words.

The magic contract was impeccable from many people’s perspective here.

He highly doubted that Chasing Star could expect his brain to function this well.

Want to mess with him?

Keep on trying!

Sometime later, Belva tidied the clothes scattered in the room.

She then tried to help Ray dress in the noble clothes, only to be rejected.

"No need," he yawned and stretched his arms. "I’ll be wearing just these loose clothes."

Since the quest required him to strip naked to the boxer, that meant he needed to at least have some clothes on. However, wearing too many would only cause him to waste too much time and attract more attention.

Therefore, wearing only one layer to remove would hasten the speed to deliver the villainous laugh for 10 seconds!

One could say that this was the loophole he had found.

’Never underestimate the power of a rogue reader!’ Ray sneered inwardly.

Only fellow rogue readers would understand each other and support each other in their actions.

He could bet with complete confidence that if other rogue readers were like him, they would have the opportunity to enter their favorite novel world.

They would do whatever they want without qualms.

Those who disagreed had to be the jealous and envious type that couldn’t stand him enjoying the fantasy they kept dreaming about.

With his adamant refusal, Belva could only put aside the noble clothes in her magic pouch and adhere to his order.

"We should start moving. The Lord and his family are waiting for you."

"Start moving, eh?" Ray stretched his hands and asked, "How much time do you think we have?"

"Less than half an hour." ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

"That should be enough!"

"Enough?" She raised an eyebrow.

What did he mean by that?

For some reason, she had an ominous feeling that he was about to do something outrageous and required her to become an accomplice.

And her instinct would be right...

At a random public street, Ray glanced left and right. He noticed that the majority were busy with their own stuff.

He was just about to strip almost bare and laugh wildly until his eyes spotted a mask.

’Wait, the quest never said I need to show my face.’ He rubbed his chin and quickly beckoned for Belva.

"What is it?"

"You see that evil-looking mask over there? Purchase it and bring it to me."

Although Belva was confused by the order, she still went ahead to the store and purchased the mask without bothering to haggle.

"Here’s the mask," she handed him the mask and stood to the side. She had a strong feeling that whatever he was planning to do, she wouldn’t want to be associated with it at all.

And she would be correct!

Once Ray put on the mask, he rushed to the open crowd and stripped almost bare.

"Hahahahahaahaha!" Ray started laughing like a maniac, shocking everyone nearby.

"What the hell?"

"Is this person insane?"

"Scared my child so much! Where are the guards at!"

Without any surprise, the commotion quickly escalated, with many cursing and even wanting to unmask him.

"T-This crazy bastard..." Belva’s body jolted from shock.

This was his grand plan?

To act like some maniac and laugh like crazy??!

Unfortunately, Belva had no choice but to discreetly stop the guards nearby from approaching Ray.

If Ray were to be caught here, then everything would be over.

Thankfully, 10 seconds later, Ray glanced at the system prompt.

[DING!

First Quest completed!

Reward: +100 Villain Points (VP). ]

’This was so not worth it.’ Despite completing it, Ray showed zero interest.

The 100 Villain Points appeared enticing at first until he discovered that doing actual villainous acts could grant him more points than some missions.

Had it not been for the failure penalty of losing his manhood, then Ray would have seriously tossed this mission into the trash can.

"You better not give me more trash quests like this one, system. Otherwise, you might as well just kill me because I don’t have a masochistic tendency to get abused like this." Ray warned the system in a low tone.
