Chapter 7: Villain Wheel

Shortly after the maniac laughter, causing a frenzy in the streets, Belva wasted no time in dragging Ray away once she saw the signal.

By the time the guards arrived, the two were already gone.

"Where did the crazy lunatic go?" One of the guards turned to the crowd and inquired.

"A shadow came swooshing by and grabbed the lunatic away."

"Damn it."

Without any clues or a description of the person’s facial appearance, the guards were left helpless.

They did a few searches in hopes of finding some clues, but were destined to return fruitless.

While they wasted their time for naught, elsewhere, Belva was staring at Ray as if he were some kind of mentally ill person.

"Are you sick in the head or something?" She asked in concern. "I know some healers who are proficient in curing the brain."

Ray directly rolled his eyes and ignored her subtle suggestion.

’If it wasn’t for this mission, I wouldn’t even commit such an act.’ He stared at the system prompt in disdain.

[Villain Store]

Villain Points: 100

Chance of Villain Wheel: 1

’A villain wheel chance? I suppose this is like those lottery draws, right?’ He pursed his lips and wondered if Chasing Star had tampered with the lottery draws.

DING!

[The host can rest assured that no such tampering is done besides the initial phase. Everything else would be dependent on the host’s fortune and fate.]

’A system that can communicate is a trash one.’ Ray flashed his middle finger in the open, startling Belva on the side.

’This person really is mentally ill...’ Belva thought to herself. She couldn’t have ever imagined being put in such a position when she received this task to become his personal maid.

Alas, there was no going back.

While Belva resigned to her fate, Ray remained unaware of her thoughts as he opened the Villain Wheel.

’Whoa, so many categories.’ Ray was dumbfounded by the numerous categories available in the villain wheel.

’Shorten them to 4 main categories. Do you want me to read a block of text like some good student?’

He instantly complained silently and demanded a restructure.

After all, the categories were no different than an AI command of asking them to generate random things without limit.

There would be many results, but so many were redundant and could be condensed to a singular category.

A few seconds later, the Villain Wheel became clearer and distinct.

[Villain Wheel]

Power Systems (magic, cultivation, body, soul)

Artifacts (all equipment & items)

Creation (alchemy, formations, crafting)

Authority (laws, domains, contracts, fate)

Now that everything had been condensed and simplified, Ray wasted no time in using the wheel chance to draw.

Only a real buffoon wouldn’t draw and save it for later.

The Lord of Magic world was dangerous, and without any power, one could easily lose one’s life.

He might not care for his life, but that didn’t mean he was going to throw it away easily.

As the wheel began spinning, it landed in the Power Systems category.

DING!

[Congratulations, host! You have obtained the Abyssal Dominion Core!]

Cultivation: Abyssal Dominion Core (Early Stage)

Description: A magic core within the host’s body that could steal, convert, and evolve power from others. To others, its appearance is no different than a regular magic core. The core can evolve as the host progresses.

Early Stage Effects:

Residual Absorption: Can absorb a small percentage (3-7%) of defeated enemies’ energy. Only works after the target is fully defeated, such as no longer capable or having any desire to fight.

Enhanced Recovery: Faster stamina/mana regeneration. Small passive healing outside combat.

Corrupted Energy Pool: Gains a secondary energy type, "Corrupted Energy" that can be used to slightly boost skills and add minor debuffs (burn, weaken, decay, etc).

Limitations:

Cannot drain during combat.

Overuse of recovery causes instability and backlash (fatigue, internal damage, etc).

Energy Conversion is inefficient at early stages (approximately 50 percent loss)

[Do you wish to inherit the draw or keep it in the Villain Extra System Storage?]

’Wow, what a wall of text. Are you an author, system? Otherwise, why are you padding word count?’ Ray clicked his tongue and found it a hassle to read such descriptions.

"Protect the surroundings, Belva. I need some time to think." He couldn’t afford to just skim through the description since it concerned his upcoming path.

Hence, he needed to take his sweet time to comprehend the power skill and required absolute silence.

Belva was naturally confused by the command, but still followed through with it.

She cast a magic barrier around them, preventing anyone from disturbing Ray.

"The coast is clear."

"Good, now move aside and stay quiet."

He waved his hand dismissively and glanced at the system prompt.

’Inherit the power system!’

Swoosh! freewebnøvel.coɱ

From within his body, Ray felt a burning sensation. Despite the commotion, he didn’t feel anything wrong. Instead, he felt refreshed, and even somewhat powerful.

DING!

[You have inherited the Abyssal Dominion Core!]

’So this is the feeling of power?’

Ray glanced at his palm before frowning in disdain. ’What a pointless sensation when there’s no actual power.’

In every novel he read, the protagonist would either go into exaggerated mode about their newfound power or a change in appearance.

Yet when he actually got the chance, it was so lackluster.

"Or maybe it’s because there’s nothing in the core yet." He deduced and shifted his eyes to Belva.

Soon, his lips curled upward to a malicious grin.

"They said I can only absorb from defeated enemies, but they never said anything about what was classified as enemies." He giggled evilly.

[The host’s villainous mind makes the system speechless...]

’Shut up, System! Stay as a mute, and no one will think you’re dead.’
