Chapter 35: A Whoopsie
"How can you be so rough on such a fragile woman?" Ray scolded harshly and hurriedly rushed to the supposed culprit.
The woman’s eyes turned tender as she glanced at Ray. "I-I was hiding from the monster tide, but then that fierce woman suddenly went after me. I retaliated, thinking it was an enemy. I didn’t know it was the reinforcement."
She explained and wanted to latch onto Ray, but was rendered motionless by the shackles that Chloe placed her in.
"You can’t be serious, right?" Chloe frowned at Ray’s lecherous behavior.
His mouth was literally drooling on the ground as he gazed at the culprit up and down.
Even the others were showing a disdainful expression at Ray.
"Are you gay, Skyler and Jake?" Ray turned to them and questioned.
"Hell no!" Both of them responded almost simultaneously.
"Then how are you not aroused by this woman? She is clearly a victim here!" Ray clicked his tongue, his hand touching her slowly from top to bottom.
The woman’s face blushed in redness at his naughty touches.
"..."
"I have had enough of this crap!" Jeanette snapped. She had been exhausted from the firewall and nearly collapsed from lack of mana.
She highly doubted her eldest sister was one to accuse an innocent without sufficient evidence.
If Chloe claimed to be the culprit, the chances were high. And even if they weren’t, the fact that they were nearby showed that this woman wasn’t so innocent.
Just when Jeanette was about to make a move, the woman’s eyes glinted slightly, almost as if she was ready to retaliate.
However, Ray hurriedly raised his hand and halted Jeanette.
"I am the commander here. How dare you behave so unruly!" He scolded coldly and wrapped his arm around the culprit.
"Are you scared?" He then asked in a tenderly sweet tone.
Instantaneously, the woman stayed her hand and shook her head timidly.
’Heh, what a buffoon—’ The woman thought he was just a lecherous bastard who had fallen for her beauty.
But before she could come up with a plan on how to take advantage of the situation, her eyes suddenly widened.
STAB!
"Y-Y-You..." The woman stared at Ray in disbelief before glancing down at her chest. A sharp dagger had been pierced through her heart, with visible blood seeping out.
And it was at that moment that she noticed his lecherous expression was gone.
"Did you seriously think I’m into you?" Ray snorted coldly, his hand holding onto an item that resembled a shard.
"A self-detonation shard. Such a dangerous item shouldn’t be held by you."
In Lord of Magic, a self-detonation shard was the most dangerous item held by criminals.
When its holder died, the self-detonation shard would be triggered, causing a massive destructive bomb.
The lives that were lost each time a self-detonation shard triggered were tremendous.
It had gotten to a point where multiple criminals managed to escape unscathed in the novel because the protagonist, William, had no way to deal with the self-detonation shard.
The protagonist was forced to let them go; otherwise, the explosion triggered would take away numerous lives.
"Why isn’t it exploding?" The woman coughed up a mouthful of blood. She was in utter shock that the self-detonation shard didn’t trigger when she was about to die.
"You can stay curious and be filled with confusion," Ray smirked and pushed the dagger deeper.
The woman wanted to strangle him as a last-ditch effort, but alas, her strength gave way. Her hand dropped to the ground as she no longer had any sign of life.
’Hmph, the self-detonation shard is deadly, but my Abyssal Dominion Core can devour it.’ Ray snickered inwardly.
His hands weren’t roaming around her body due to lust, but rather to search for this shard and check if he could rid it of its function.
Hence, he scolded the rest and continuously made lecherous commentary to distract everyone’s mind.
How could a dedicated reader like him not know something like the self-detonation shard?
[As expected of the number one fan in Lord of Magic~]
’Shut up, system. I have long forfeited that number one fan title.’ Ray retorted angrily.
The number one fan for a BL novel?
You might as well kill him!
He held no prejudice toward those who enjoyed BL novels, but don’t you ever dare to try to make him enjoy one. freewebnσvel.cѳm
As the woman died by his hand, Ray was pretty pleased with himself. This woman was a murderer, so he showed zero sympathy. Plus, he got the last hit on the kill, so he was bound to get something awesome.
The only problem...
He didn’t expect a surprise reward.
[+1000 Villain Points]
’Sweet mother of heaven. 1,000 points? When did you become this generous?’ Ray thought the system was praising his morality and amazing heart.
However, that was his pipe dream.
[The woman is named Sylvia and is the sister of Sylvie. You have just earned Sylvie’s hatred for killing her sister.]
’Oh...’ Ray’s mouth was opened by the information.
How could he not know who Sylvie was?
She was the first heroine introduced and the very person who saved the protagonist, William, during his early journey. When the novel started, the two were already traveling, with their background briefly mentioned.
’Fuck... no wonder it’s 1,000 points.’ From what he recalled, the heroine Sylvie’s sister was forced by a contract that she had to sign when she was kidnapped.
In other words, the deeds she did were forced upon her and not by her free will.
Don’t get it?
Think of it this way.
The soldiers who died in battle today... Even though they weren’t directly killed by Ray, it was ultimately his decision that got them killed.
To summarize, he also had blood on his hands regarding these deceased soldiers.
Similarly, the culprit, aka Sylvia, despite being the responsible person for the deaths of many, wasn’t actually the true mastermind. Instead, it was the contractor that she was bound to.
Keep in mind that this was a fantasy novel, so life and death happened almost daily.
"Jake, well done on killing the culprit responsible for this tragedy at Moonrock Town." Ray cleared his throat and praised Jake loudly.
