The Qi was hitting the wall of the aperture like a huge tsunami, trying to crack it open.
The walls of the aperture however remained like a rigid structure, not allowing to be broken so easily.
However, the immunity of the walls was not that strong, causing a crack on the wall after the Qi hit it many times.
Cultivation was done by meditating and putting all of your concentration on the aperture, and Evan was trying his best to do so.
’Ahh! It’s so hard,’ said Evan wiping sweat from his forehead.

Blood worms were things that were kept in the aperture and fed on a person’s Qi, they provided different techniques to the user.
Like cultivators they also had their ranks, that were Basic, Awakened, Prayer, Ancient, Saint, Mythical and Divine, where Basic was the lowest rank and Divine the highest.
The higher the rank of the Blood worm was,the higher its Qi consumption, this was the reason why a Fledgling could not even touch a Divine Blood worm, because if he did so his aperture would explode the moment he touched it.
The ranks of cultivators ranged from Fledgling to Celestial, however it is a story for another day.

As Evan was a Vampire Fledgling, Harry brought him a Basic Blood worm.
An aperture’s worm holding capacity depended upon the cultivating talent of a person.
S-Ranks could hold 25, A-Rank 20, B-Rank 15, C-Rank 10, D-Rank 5 and a mortal could sometimes hold a single worm in his aperture, but those were rare cases.
’What kind of worm is it?’, Evan asked.
’It is called the Blinding light worm. It is used to blind an opponent temporarily and it can be used 3 times.’
Blood worms have their endurance, some were a one time or three time use worm while some could be used as much time as one wants.
’By the way Evan, you will be joining the academy from tomorrow, as soon as you reach the level of a Rank 2, you will become an Outer Disciple and graduate from the academy. Based on your talent, I assume it would take you three months to graduate.’
’And to be honest you are in luck, tomorrow is going to be the start of a new session, so you won’t miss anything.’
Harry after explaining all these things to Evan, left his room.

Evan opened the flask and took out the Blood worm, placing it in his hand.
It looked like a yellowish caterpillar that was emitting a golden light from its body.
He took a Blood Stone and sucked the energy from it.
The process of refining a Blood Worm seemed somewhat gross to him because, to refine a Blood Worm, you have to swallow it and let it find the aperture inside your lower belly.
However, there were two challenges of refining the first was that

For example, if you bite a Blood Worm that has blasting techniques, it would blast inside your mouth, or like in Evan’s case, all of the Blinding light the Blood worm has would be emitted inside his mouth.
The second was if a worm could not find the aperture, it would come out of the body through a vomit never to be used again.
But if it did find the aperture, it would enter in it and after it is inside the aperture, you have to increase the density of the Qi by sucking energy from the Blood Stones.

Evan took the blood worm and swallowed it. As it reached the esophagus it gave such a burning sensation that he had never once felt in his whole life.
The blood worm could be felt going inside, but the thing that made it the most painful was the speed of the blood worm, it was not fast rather it was comparable to a snail.
Evan was trying his best not to scream, his face had gone red and his eyes were not able to show any movement because of the intense pain.
After a minute or so, he felt difficulty in breathing. But after some time the pain finally came to an end. ƒrēewebnovel.com
The blood worm was now in his aperture, he sucked the energy from the blood stones and increased the density of the Qi.
The blood worm got seduced by such nourished Qi and consumed a bit of it.
’Finally I refined it!’

This was the last stage of refining a Blood Worm, you had to make the Blood Worm consume your Qi, if it did so the Blood Worm would be instantly refined.
However, if it did not take a liking to your Qi, it would not be refined and would die inside the aperture, and if you want to take it out of your aperture, you can do it by a single thought, and same goes with if you want to self-destruct it because once it consumes your Qi, it becomes your slave.
