Chapter 704: 704

"Brother Lin, why are you so happy? Did you find the Ice Silkworm?" Tian Zilian couldn’t help but ask, looking at the excited Lin Kuang.

"No, not yet, but now that we’ve found this Nethercold Zhe, the Ice Silkworm is as good as caught!" Lin Kuang said to Tian Zilian with immense excitement.

"Oh? Why is that? Can the Nethercold Zhe attract the Ice Silkworm?" Tian Zilian asked, looking at him with some confusion.

"Yes. Look at the leaves of this Nethercold Zhe. They’ve been eaten by an Ice Silkworm. The Nethercold Zhe is its primary food source, so as long as one is here, an Ice Silkworm is bound to show up," Lin Kuang explained excitedly.

Hearing his words, a smile blossomed on Tian Zilian’s beautiful face. "So that’s how it is. That’s wonderful! It looks like we have a great chance of catching an Ice Silkworm today."

"Yes, if all goes well, we’ll get it. Zilian, thank you so much. I never would have found this place without you. Even if I had, it would have taken a very long time. Thank you, Zilian," Lin Kuang said with profound gratitude.

Hearing this, Tian Zilian quickly waved her hands. "It’s nothing, Brother Lin. If you hadn’t brought your people to help, our Heavenly Mountain Sect would have been finished. Besides, if you hadn’t saved me, I would be dead. What’s this little favor in comparison to that?"

Tian Zilian spoke earnestly. One should always be grateful, especially for a life-saving favor. Without Lin Kuang, she would probably be reporting to King Yan by now.

"Don’t worry about it. Members of the Demon Sect deserve to die. It was only right for me to help you," Lin Kuang said with a smile.

"Well, if it was right for you to help us, then it’s right for me to help you," Tian Zilian replied, smiling sweetly at Lin Kuang.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang genuinely had no rebuttal, so he simply dropped the subject.

"Alright, you’re right. Let’s not get hung up on this. We should hide for now so we’re ready to catch the Ice Silkworm when it returns," Lin Kuang said with a laugh.

"Okay, let’s hide," Tian Zilian agreed with a smile. The two of them then concealed themselves behind an ice pillar and waited quietly.

Time trickled by. In the blink of an eye, two hours had passed, yet the Ice Silkworm had not appeared. The cavern of ice remained as silent and frigid as ever.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang couldn’t help but frown, his anxiety growing.

Could Xue Danqing have been wrong? Maybe the Nethercold Zhe doesn’t attract the Ice Silkworm? Or has it just not returned yet? Is it not feeding time? Lin Kuang worried.

"Zilian, maybe you should head back first? There’s no telling when this Ice Silkworm will show up," Lin Kuang suggested via Sound Transmission.

"It’s fine. I don’t have anything to do back there anyway. I’ll wait here with you," Tian Zilian’s smiling voice came back via Sound Transmission.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang didn’t press the issue. This girl might be a bit naive, but she was also the type who, once her mind was made up, couldn’t be swayed by nine stampeding oxen.

"Alright then, we’ll wait patiently. I refuse to believe this Ice Silkworm won’t come out," Lin Kuang sent another Sound Transmission, a hint of annoyance creeping into his tone.

"Brother Lin, should I offer a drop of my blood?" Tian Zilian asked via Sound Transmission.

Lin Kuang shook his head and sent back, "Not yet. If the Ice Silkworm is nearby, it will definitely come for the Nethercold Zhe. Let’s wait a little longer. If that really doesn’t work, we can use your blood to lure it out."

"Okay, then we’ll wait a little longer," Tian Zilian replied via Sound Transmission.

So, the two of them continued to wait.

Another hour slipped by. The space remained utterly still. There were no strange occurrences, no sounds, and certainly no sign of the Ice Silkworm.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang’s patience wore thin. "Zilian, should we try using your blood?" he asked via Sound Transmission.

"Alright," Tian Zilian agreed with a smile, also via Sound Transmission.

She then raised her hand, preparing to bite her index finger.

Just then, however, Lin Kuang heard a faint rustling sound, making his heart leap.

"Zilian, don’t move!" he sent urgently via Sound Transmission, thrusting his hand out to stop her without looking back.

At that moment, Lin Kuang was peering cautiously from behind the ice pillar. And then, a transparent, crystalline creature appeared in his line of sight.

Seeing the creature, Lin Kuang became ecstatic.

The Ice Silkworm! he roared inwardly, overcome with excitement.

The Ice Silkworm was over seven inches long. Its body was as clear and translucent as crystal, and it had a pair of small horns on its head. It was also covered in scales, giving it a very strange appearance. Through its scales, one could see violet-green blood flowing within. From a distance, it looked like a crystal vial filled with a violet-green liquid.

The Ice Silkworm crawled rapidly across the ice, quickly reaching the trunk of the Nethercold Zhe. Slowly, it coiled its body around the trunk and brought its head to the leaves. It began to devour the Zhe Leaves!

Seeing this, Lin Kuang was even more certain that the crystalline insect before him was the Ice Silkworm!

With that thought, he prepared to make his move. Just then, Tian Zilian’s clear voice echoed in his mind, though it seemed to carry a hint of shyness.

"Lin... Brother Lin, can you move your hand now?" she asked bashfully via Sound Transmission.

Lin Kuang turned his head in confusion. Tian Zilian’s beautiful face was flushed as red as a ripe apple, making one want to take a bite. She looked at Lin Kuang with reddened cheeks, her lovely eyes filled with embarrassment.

Lin Kuang still hadn’t grasped the situation. But as his gaze traveled down from her pretty face, his own expression instantly filled with awkwardness.

When he had reached out to stop her, his palm had inadvertently landed right on the soft swell of her chest.

Realizing this, Lin Kuang snatched his hand back. "Ahem, Zilian, Zilian, I didn’t mean to! I really, really didn’t mean it. I just... I touched you by accident, please don’t mind," he frantically explained via Sound Transmission. He truly hadn’t done it on purpose. If Tian Zilian hadn’t said anything, he would still have no idea where his hand had been.

"It’s... it’s alright," Tian Zilian replied in a small voice via Sound Transmission, her face still bright red.

Though she said that, she was mortified. After all, it was the first time a man had ever touched her there.
