Chapter 683: Chapter 683 Whimsical Mood

When Lin Kuang saw Xiao Chenfeng, his expression changed slightly. After all, Xiao Chenfeng had previously joined forces with Chen Fengyuan to deal with him. With Xiao Chenfeng appearing again, how could Lin Kuang not be vigilant?

Chen Fengyuan’s face, on the other hand, flashed with delight. He couldn’t help but shout, "Xiao Chenfeng, Lin Kuang is here! Let’s kill him!"

Hearing this, Xiao Chenfeng nodded with a smile. "Alright, let’s kill him." As he spoke, he rode his snowboard over to Chen Fengyuan’s side.

Chen Fengyuan smiled and nodded back. With Xiao Chenfeng’s help, Lin Kuang’s death was all but certain.

However, at that very moment, something happened that surprised both Lin Kuang and Chen Fengyuan!

Xiao Chenfeng, who had just arrived beside Chen Fengyuan, suddenly pulled out a short dagger and viciously plunged it into Chen Fengyuan’s ribs.

This turn of events caught Lin Kuang completely off guard. He couldn’t understand why Xiao Chenfeng, who had just been allied with Chen Fengyuan against him, would suddenly attack Chen Fengyuan so brutally. What was going on? Lin Kuang was completely baffled, staring blankly at the scene unfolding before him.

He wasn’t the only one stunned; Chen Fengyuan was dumbfounded. The moment he was stabbed, his body shot backward in a flash. It was fortunate that he was so powerful; had his reaction been even a fraction of a second slower, he would have been crippled.

"You... why would you do this?!" Chen Fengyuan demanded, staring at Xiao Chenfeng, his eyes so wide with fury they looked as if they would tear from their sockets.

"No reason. I just felt like it," Xiao Chenfeng said with a careless shrug. "Besides, I’m not a fan of yours. Is that a good enough reason?" He spoke with such nonchalance, it was as if what he had just done was the most natural thing in the world.

Hearing this, Chen Fengyuan’s face darkened. Blood dripped steadily from the wound in his side, staining the snowfield crimson.

"Very well. Xiao Chenfeng, Lin Kuang... both of you will die today!" Chen Fengyuan snarled. He quickly sealed the wound with his energy, staunching the flow of blood.

"Tsk, tsk. In your condition, how do you plan to kill us?" Xiao Chenfeng said with open disdain. "Forget about me; it’s questionable if you could even kill Lin Kuang right now."

"Is that so? Xiao Chenfeng, you brought this on yourself!" With that, Chen Fengyuan took a deep breath, preparing to act.

"Lin Kuang, let’s go! The Dong Family is almost here," Xiao Chenfeng suddenly sent via Sound Transmission, simultaneously tossing Lin Kuang a simple wooden plank—a makeshift snowboard.

Hearing the Sound Transmission, Lin Kuang frowned but said nothing. He grabbed the snowboard, pushed off with his feet, and shot forward across the snow. Seeing them flee, Chen Fengyuan, who had been about to release his Seal, froze for a second before roaring in rage, "You brats, stop right there!" He howled furiously, his heart filled with utter frustration. Not only had he failed to kill Lin Kuang, but he had also been grievously wounded by Xiao Chenfeng’s treachery. This was a profound humiliation, driving him to the brink of madness.

Lin Kuang and Xiao Chenfeng paid his shouts no mind, speeding away on their snowboards at an incredible pace.

Just then, Dong Qilong, Dong Qibao, Fan Mohao, and Fan Moran finally caught up. They immediately spotted the wounded Chen Fengyuan. At the sight of him, Dong Qilong’s expression changed drastically, and he blurted out, "Chen Fengyuan, you’re still alive?"

Dong Qilong stared in utter disbelief. Years ago, Chen Fengyuan had supposedly fought to the death against the Demon Sect; his demise was a well-known fact throughout the Ancient Martial Realm. Yet now, he was standing here, alive and in the flesh. The shock was immense.

Seeing Dong Qilong, Chen Fengyuan frowned, a thoughtful look in his eyes. After a moment, he asked with some uncertainty, "You... are you Dong Qilong of the Dong Family?"

"Yes, Senior Chen. I am Dong Qilong," Dong Qilong replied promptly, regaining his composure. In terms of seniority, Chen Fengyuan was his elder.

At this, Chen Fengyuan waved a hand. "To think that all of you from back then have made new breakthroughs. Truly unexpected." Gazing at Dong Qilong, he spoke with a touch of sentimentality. "Times have changed, and I realize I’ve truly grown old."

Hearing this, Dong Qilong quickly asked, "Senior Chen, where have you been all these years? Didn’t you die in that battle?"

"Yes, after that battle, I was indeed on the brink of death, but I was fortunate enough to cling to a sliver of life. I’ve lived in seclusion ever since. Only in the last few years has my body recovered somewhat. But now I’m old, more for show than for use," Chen Fengyuan said calmly, a hint of sorrow in his eyes.

He thought of his youth, when he’d looked down upon the entire world, and then at his current, decrepit state. A knot of complicated feelings tightened in his chest.

"You jest, Senior Chen," Dong Qilong said with a respectful laugh. "You were the backbone of that great battle. Even if you have aged, you are still a mighty expert."

Chen Fengyuan offered a faint smile. "Let it go. That’s all in the past, after all. If I’m not mistaken, you’re also here to hunt down Lin Kuang, aren’t you?" he asked, looking at Dong Qilong and the others.

Hearing this, Dong Qilong paused, his guard rising instantly. He’s not a fool. For Chen Fengyuan to ask this, it’s obvious he also wants to kill Lin Kuang and take the Nameless Sword for himself.

"There’s no need to look at me so warily," Chen Fengyuan said lightly, noticing their reaction. "If you’ve also come for Lin Kuang, let’s join forces. That kid is slippery. I’ve fought him twice, and he managed to escape both times."

Dong Qilong was momentarily stunned. He carefully sensed Chen Fengyuan’s power and discovered his strength was only at the peak of the Skyline realm.

"Senior Chen, how has your strength... become like this?" Dong Qilong asked, scarcely able to believe it.

Chen Fengyuan waved his hand dismissively. "It’s nothing. My injuries from back then were too severe. It’s a blessing I’ve recovered even to this extent."

Hearing this, Dong Qilong couldn’t help but breathe a silent sigh of relief. If Chen Fengyuan’s strength was truly limited to this, they could certainly cooperate. He wasn’t worried about Chen Fengyuan trying to snatch their prize. After all, he was no longer the formidable expert who had achieved Three Flowers Gathering at the Top.

Thus, Dong Qilong had no concerns. On the contrary, with Chen Fengyuan joining them, their team had just grown stronger.
