Chapter 682: Chapter 682: Tai Chi Duel
Upon witnessing this, Lin Kuang’s expression changed slightly, a hint of surprise appearing in his eyes. He hadn’t expected Chen Fengyuan to be carrying a Soft Sword.
However, Lin Kuang was a master, after all. He quickly retracted his arm, instantly dodging the Soft Sword. At the same time, he shook the Nameless in his hand, and its razor-sharp tip thrust rapidly toward Chen Fengyuan’s chest.
Chen Fengyuan remained calm. He lifted his Soft Sword, and a strange force emerged, immediately deflecting the Nameless Sword in Lin Kuang’s hand. This force was precisely the Ward-Off Energy from the Tai Chi Eight Forces!
"Tai Chi Sword?!" Lin Kuang couldn’t help but exclaim upon seeing Chen Fengyuan’s technique.
"Indeed. This is the Tai Chi Sword," Chen Fengyuan said with a cold laugh, "the powerful Tai Chi Sword of the Chen Family."
"Your Tai Chi Sword isn’t all that great," Lin Kuang taunted. "Come, let me show you *my* Tai Chi Sword!"
With that, he flicked his wrist, initiated the Bagua Steps, and unleashed the Chaotic Tai Chi Sword.
Chen Fengyuan’s eyes widened in disbelief at Lin Kuang’s shifting swordplay. "T-Tai Chi Sword? How is that possible? How could you know it?" he demanded, his expression grim.
The Tai Chi Sword was a secret of the Chen Family, never taught to outsiders. For Lin Kuang to have mastered it was completely illogical.
Lin Kuang remained calm. "Why can’t I? The Tai Chi Sword isn’t exclusive to your Chen Family." With a cold laugh, he executed his own Chaotic Tai Chi Sword, a technique even more potent than Chen Fengyuan’s!
Chen Fengyuan’s expression shifted, his eyes once again filling with disbelief. It was shocking enough that Lin Kuang could use the Tai Chi Sword, but for his version to be even more powerful than his own... that was a fact Chen Fengyuan found hard to accept.
Lin Kuang was unconcerned. The Tai Chi Sword he displayed might have looked like an incomplete version, but he had actually modified it. In Lin Kuang’s eyes, his own Tai Chi Sword was the purest and most lethal form.
"Shocked? Don’t be. Because you’re about to die," Lin Kuang said with a cold smile, clutching the Nameless.
"Hmph! Arrogant fool. You think you can kill me with just the Tai Chi Sword? Kid, you’re far too confident," Chen Fengyuan retorted with a cold laugh.
"Is that so? Let’s find out just how overly confident I am, shall we?" Lin Kuang sneered, the Nameless Sword in his hand suddenly lashing out toward Chen Fengyuan’s throat.
In response, Chen Fengyuan’s feet flashed as he executed the Bagua Steps. His Soft Sword lashed out, perfectly timed to block Lin Kuang’s attack.
Lin Kuang remained unconcerned. Although Chen Fengyuan gave him an odd feeling, he had absolute confidence in his own strength and his ability to take the man down.
The two clashed, both using Bagua Steps and the Tai Chi Sword. Yet, Lin Kuang’s execution of both techniques completely overwhelmed Chen Fengyuan! Bear in mind, Chen Fengyuan was an inheritor of Chen Family Tai Chi and one of its last Skyline masters. His strength was not to be taken lightly. Even so, Lin Kuang suppressed him completely. Both his step technique and his swordsmanship were overpowered, leaving Chen Fengyuan feeling utterly stifled.
Lin Kuang’s expression remained composed, his Bagua Steps as mysterious as ever. His Chaotic Tai Chi Sword grew increasingly fierce, slowly but surely pulling Chen Fengyuan into his attack rhythm. If the fight continued this way, Chen Fengyuan was certain to die. He had already fallen into Lin Kuang’s tempo, and as long as he couldn’t break free, he would not survive.
Chen Fengyuan was a seasoned expert himself, having participated in battles against masters of the evil path in his younger years, a testament to his formidable strength. As he felt himself being drawn deeper into Lin Kuang’s rhythm, his expression darkened. For a master of his caliber, being caught in an opponent’s tempo meant only one thing, and he knew it all too well: death.
Damn it, how is this kid so strong? Do I really have to release the seal? If this goes on, he’s going to kill me! Chen Fengyuan thought, his expression grim as his gaze flickered.
Unless absolutely necessary, Chen Fengyuan didn’t want to release the seal within his body. Once broken, his strength would skyrocket, but he would also suffer a severe backlash. It would take him months to recover. With other enemies lurking nearby, failing to escape quickly could mean death. Thus, he hesitated, weighing his options.
Lin Kuang had no idea what Chen Fengyuan was contemplating, but he could see the old man was distracted. This was the perfect opportunity. At that thought, Lin Kuang flicked his Nameless Sword.
Instantly, his Chaotic Tai Chi Sword morphed into the Antelope Hanging Horn Sword Technique. The strike seemed to come from beyond the heavens, aimed directly at Chen Fengyuan’s throat.
Chen Fengyuan was still debating whether to release his seal when Lin Kuang’s sword was already upon him. A terrifying sense of crisis erupted in his heart. Decades of combat experience screamed that he was in mortal danger.
Thinking fast, Chen Fengyuan shot backward, his Soft Sword sweeping out horizontally to intercept.
CLANG! The sound of metal on metal rang out as Chen Fengyuan narrowly dodged the fatal blow. If his reaction had been a split-second slower, Lin Kuang’s sword would have pierced his throat.
Lin Kuang felt a flicker of frustration as his attack missed, but he said nothing. After all, Chen Fengyuan was a master; it was never going to be that easy.
Chen Fengyuan’s face was a grim mask, his eyes brimming with killing intent. Too close. That was far too close. He almost killed me!
"Kid, you forced my hand! You forced me!" Chen Fengyuan snarled, his pupils radiating a cold, murderous intent.
"Did I?" Lin Kuang sneered. "Then make your move. I’d love to see what trump cards you’re holding."
Despite his taunt, he grew vigilant. The old man was indeed a master, and he couldn’t afford to be careless.
Just as Chen Fengyuan resolved to release the seal, both men heard a swishing sound and turned their heads. Appearing in their line of sight was none other than Xiao Chenfeng, the Skyline-level assassin.
