Chapter 121: Lucian!!
This... this was no longer elite security!
This was not even human!
What the hell was this!?
Evelyn’s mind was falling apart, more by the fact that Lucian seemed to know everything, heck, he seemed like he was a part of this.
She looked at him, carrying her as he jumped from one building to another with impossible ease. The smile on his face, that easy, charming, lazy look he always had on his face, it was gone. His purple eyes were shining intensely as he moved with a cold, determined look on his face.
And Evelyn...
She only stared at him with a somewhat lost, hazy look on her face.
Even in a situation like this, even when his smile was gone...
He looks good...
Her mind thought for a moment, then, she quickly shook her head.
She almost wanted to slap herself.
This was NOT the time to think about all this!
She needed answers!
But...
Lucian was no longer answering her, his focus was on the situation at hand. He let the two werewolves follow them, the plan was to let them follow him till they were far away from Alaric, once the distance was enough, once he knew they would need time to return to Alaric, Lucian would lose them.
All this while, he had noted the extent of their abilities.
Werewolves were usually known for their superior physical abilities, and rightfully so, these two were fast, unnaturally fast, much faster than normal humans.
But...
These were only young werewolves, that too, ones who were probably kicked out of their pack.
They were no match for Lucian.
He could keep up with their speed just by using his physical abilities alone, if he used demonic energy to enhance his speed on top of that, losing them wouldn’t be difficult.
So Lucian waited for the distance to increase, sometimes, when he moved a little too fast, widening the distance between him and the wolves, he actually slowed down, acting like he was tired, so the wolves would catch up to their prey with sadistic grins.
And while he moved these two away, Lucian enhanced his senses and perceived everything around him.
[Route two is clear. Cross, come here!]
Sarah’s voice came from the comm.
"Yes."
Lucian nodded as he moved towards route two, where Sarah and Elise were.
But just then—
[Do not chase her, you idiots! You were paid to hold Ashcroft! Do that!]
Lucian heard a voice.
Not from his comm, it came from one of the wolves’.
And those words made Lucian take a brief pause.
Do not chase her.
Why?
Lucian wondered in his head.
Were they not after Evelyn?
Were they... targeting Alaric instead?
No.
That made no sense.
Six young packless werewolves would never be enough for the Heir of the Ashcrofts.
He also found it suspicious that Sarah and Elise were able to escape but that van fell down right in front of them.
No...
It was something else.
These people...
They knew he would take Evelyn and leave. In fact, they were hoping he would do it.
And if that’s true then...
Lucian’s eyes changed.
"Hold on."
He instructed.
"I am holding on."
"Then hold on stronger."
Lucian spoke as demonic energy moved throughout his body, then it gathered into his legs and—
Lucian accelerated.
"Wha—Aaaaahhh!!"
Evelyn screamed in horror as she tightened her hold around his neck. The werewolves who had been chasing Lucian with sadistic grins all this while were instantly left behind as Lucian’s figure almost blurred.
He jumped through building after building, moving so quickly and unpredictably that the wolves lost sight of him within two minutes.
Then, once Lucian was sure he had lost them, his eyes shone, he looked around, in an instant, he changed his direction, he stepped onto a narrow ledge, then onto the roof of a building, then—
More demonic energy moved to his legs and—
BOOOM
He jumped up.
Yes, not forward, he jumped up in the air.
"L-Lucian!"
Evelyn’s eyes widened in horror as she looked at the ground moving further and further away from her.
For one impossible second, they were above the smoke, the service lane, the panicked crowd, and all the buildings around them.
Evelyn closed her eyes in horror.
As for Lucian—
He held Evelyn in his arms, his demonic energy now moved to his eyes and he looked at the city that was now beneath him, at the roads, at the massive crowd everywhere, at route two they were about to take and as he looked—
He could see it.
That narrow road their car was supposed to take, the truck that was already placed there and Lucian realised it—
A second trap.
Just as he expected.
He however, did not stop moving.
Route two was compromised, so he needed to find another route.
There wasn’t any, all other routes were jammed with people or vehicles, this was the reason the enemy was so sure that they would move from route two— freewebnσvel.cøm
They made it so that was the only option.
Lucian’s eyes continued to move, scanning the entire city as best as he could, he saw Sarah and Elise’s car, where they were, where they could go from here.
Then—
"Black."
He called.
[What?]
Sarah answered, not liking the way he called her but then— freewebnovёl.ƈom
"Turn left."
[Left? We checked, there are too many people in the path ahead!]
"Do as I say, there’s a trap ahead of route two."
[What!?]
"Just do as I said!"
Lucian raised his voice and Sarah—
[A-Alright! Taking left!]
She closed her eyes and decided to trust Lucian.
The Car moved, Lucian saw it, then, his body, that was still moving up, now started descending.
"Lucian!!"
Evelyn screamed in fear when she sensed that, tightening her hold around him.
Lucian didn’t say anything, he continued to look, his eyes moved to the path he had told Sarah to take, at the dead service lane that sat behind a wall, then at the old maintenance road that was behind two more walls and he—
He let his body fall.
"Lucian!!"
