Chapter 485: Chapter 485: Harmony
Feng Lishu wasn’t as considerate as Ding Anguo thought. If they paid for the house, the parents wouldn’t feel comfortable, but if they paid themselves, it would be different.
Ruan Qingru was extremely touched, her nose tingled a bit, "People say a son-in-law is like half a son, but this one in our family is better than several sons."
"No wonder you and Dad both like Anguo so much, even better than me."
Feng Lishu got an eye-roll from Ruan Qingru, "You should treat Anguo well. Which husband could be so good, well-read, so considerate to his wife, and takes care of the kids effortlessly. You’re just lucky; when you were born, I was so busy, your dad couldn’t do much to help."
Feng Lishu laughed, her shoulders shaking, feeling sorry for her own father, stirring up some grudges.
"Mom, I know, I treat Anguo well too," Feng Lishu whispered as she leaned closer, "I think the most important thing is the example set by my brother. You don’t know how he treats my sister-in-law, he practically adores her."
"That’s why Anguo is so good now. He used to be a bit muddled, but with Big Brother’s guidance, he’s outstanding now," Feng Lishu didn’t forget to praise her brother-in-law, "Xiaobao is good to Anmin too, with such a harmonious family atmosphere. It’s all thanks to the great parenting from the in-laws; the roots are strong, it won’t grow crooked."
Ruan Qingru lightly tapped her daughter’s head, "You always bring up the in-laws, but you’re right. By the way, just stay for one night. I’m worried about your dad being alone in the hospital. Now that I know you’re back, I’ll go back to the in-laws’ house to see you."
"Mom, you just want to eat my mother-in-law’s cooking," Feng Lishu exposed her mercilessly.
Ruan Qingru coughed uncomfortably, "What nonsense, but your mother-in-law’s cooking is really good, even better than the chefs at state-run restaurants."
Feng Lishu smiled and didn’t debunk it.
"Alright, go back inside quickly. Anguo is taking care of two kids by himself, quite exhausting, you should go help." Ruan Qingru glared at her daughter.
"Okay, I’ll head back in." When Feng Lishu returned to the room, the Dumplings and Tangyuan were already asleep, coaxed by Ding Anguo.
Ding Anguo was holding a thermos, pouring water into the enamel basin, "Go brush your teeth and wash your face first. When you’re done, the water temperature will be just right for a quick wipe."
Feng Lishu’s face showed a trace of dependency, delight, and affection. When Ding Anguo put down the thermos, she immediately threw herself into his arms, "Anguo, you’re so good to me."
Ding Anguo amusedly rubbed the top of her head, "That’s it?"
"Yes," Feng Lishu nodded vigorously while nestled in Ding Anguo’s embrace. She’s not clueless, not without eyes or the ability to feel, just like her mother said, she’s living a very happy life.
"Go freshen up, otherwise the water will get cold," Ding Anguo coaxed softly, a deep sense of achievement on his face. He never realized this kind of satisfaction and happiness before, but ever since getting married, he found marriage to be great.
"Don’t you have anything to say to me?" Feng Lishu looked up, her eyes gleaming as she gazed at Ding Anguo.
With a "gulp," Ding Anguo involuntarily swallowed, then tilted his head to capture her soft lips lightly, out of consideration for the moment, a brief taste, "Shu, marrying you and having kids feels so good, so blissful."
Feng Lishu’s heart instantly filled up. She tiptoed to return the kiss, both of them falling into the web of tender emotion, suddenly unrestrained. When they snapped back to reality, the basin of water had turned completely cold, but their faces were flushed red.
"I’ll go refill the water." Ding Anguo put on a thick coat and started arranging things, Feng Lishu sweetly enjoying, grateful that her room was separated from her parents’ by another room.
The moonlight was thick tonight, the north wind howling couldn’t cool the fervent hearts between the couple. In Bright Alley, Xu Ancheng and Yi Roujing were the same.
After coaxing Baozi to sleep, Xu Ancheng clung to Yi Roujing, stickier than caramel. But Yi Roujing also missed him; they hadn’t seen each other for a while. Despite the cold weather making her hesitant, she couldn’t resist Xu Ancheng’s enthusiasm. Anyway, they were up all night, and the next day Yi Roujing sleep until late morning.
Having good in-laws is really important. They won’t scold you for sleeping late or judge you for not doing chores. Instead, even if you get up this late, they still prepare a warm breakfast for you.
Yi Roujing was enjoying a bowl of brown sugar and longan egg soup, along with egg pancakes, which tasted wonderful.
Xu Ancheng came into the main room after chopping wood, a thin layer of sweat on his forehead, mouth slightly smiling, with a gaze that seemed to have hooks, causing Yi Roujing to nearly choke.
"Restrain yourself," Yi Roujing scolded with a red face.
"It’s just the two of us," Xu Ancheng said as he approached and kissed Yi Roujing on the forehead, "Wife, you’ve worked hard. We’re having candied pork knuckles for lunch."
Upon hearing this, Yi Roujing put down the egg pancake she’d just picked up with her chopsticks. She needed to save her appetite.
"Dad, Mom, please mind the occasion," said Baozi as he walked in and saw the intimate scene, kindly reminding them. He’s already used to it, but there were guests at home, "Grandma Ruan is here."
Grandma Ruan, as Baozi called her, was Ruan Qingru. She came along with Ding Anguo, Feng Lishu, and two kids to Bright Alley. The group had just come from the hospital, and Ding Weihuo, Li Hongying also learned about Feng Guolun’s leg injury.
"Just in time, I bought a big bone today I’ll crack it open for soup. Anguo, later on, you can take it to your father-in-law at the hospital," Li Hongying couldn’t sit idle knowing this, and Ruan Qingru awkwardly went up to help.
"No need to worry about being laughed at by in-laws, if Lishu’s dad knew it was our in-laws’ soup, he might want to stay in the hospital a few more days," Ruan Qingru chuckled, teasing her own husband.
Li Hongying couldn’t help but laugh, "If the father-in-law likes it, Anguo can deliver it daily. I’ll rotate it with pig trotters, bones, and ribs."
Ruan Qingru was practically drooling at the thought.
"In-law, recently just come over for meals, more eating means just an extra pair of chopsticks," Li Hongying warmly invited Ruan Qingru, having gotten along well living under the same roof in Jing City for some time.
Ruan Qingru never arrived empty-handed, and Li Hongying knew well of the discreet assistance she provided to Ding Anguo and Feng Lishu, one couldn’t not treat such in-laws well.
"Anmin and his family went to their in-laws’ place, her room is empty. During the period while the father-in-law is hospitalized, you should stay with us. Otherwise, we’ll worry about you being alone at home."
Ruan Qingru was tempted. Feng Guolun had passed the miserable phase and was stable now, just waiting for discharge. There’s no harm in not staying at the hospital overnight, especially in this cold weather.... Ruan Qingru convinced herself, "Then I’ll trouble the in-laws."
Li Hongying liked Ruan Qingru’s straightforwardness, and they happily got busy in the kitchen.
