Chapter 486: Chapter 486: Bringing Them Home

Li Hongying’s culinary skills are unforgettable, making people unknowingly add more rice. Ruan Qingru ate happily, of course, she didn’t have the spare time to deliver meals to her husband. Ding Anguo and Feng Lishu took on the task, since the two kids had grandpa, grandma, and their maternal grandmother watching over them, they weren’t needed.

When they arrived at the hospital, Feng Guolun was genuinely hungry, especially after seeing the other people in the ward have a hearty meal.

"Dad." Feng Lishu held an insulated container, and behind her Ding Anguo carried a basin, with a corner of a thick jacket peeking out. Inside were three aluminum lunchboxes, and even after being carried all the way, they were still warm.

Feng Guolun couldn’t wait to sit up straight, intuitively pulled the small table at the end of the bed over to place in front of him, setting it up for the lunchboxes and the insulated container.

One box was filled with white rice, the other two held dishes, one being stir-fried eggs, the other braised fish pieces. Inside the insulated container was bone broth that had been simmered for an hour, filling the ward with fragrance the moment it was opened.

"Anguo, thank you for your trouble," Feng Guolun said eagerly as he picked up the spoon to drink several mouthfuls of the bone broth, his eyebrows lifting with pleasure. Then he alternated between rice, dishes, and soup, finishing everything in twenty minutes and contentedly burping.

"Lishu, tell your mom not to stay overnight anymore. I can take care of myself as long as there’s food," Feng Guolun called his daughter’s name but looked at Ding Anguo with eyes full of expectation.

"Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll bring dinner too," Ding Anguo promised with a smile.

"Anguo, having you as a son-in-law is truly a blessing for the Feng family," Feng Guolun chuckled.

The couple didn’t sit long before Feng Guolun urged them to go back, "Don’t let our Dumplings and Tangyuan wait anxiously. Once I’m discharged, I’ll visit your home."

Meanwhile, after lunch, Yi Roujing and her family went to the Yi Family home. Liu Huilan opened the door, and seeing her daughter and son-in-law visiting, she joyfully brought out all the delicious food, drinks, and fun things at home.

"Grandma." Baozi called warmly, and Liu Huilan happily scooped him into her lap, then began picking fruits from the table for Baozi to eat, peeling an orange, slicing a pear, and handing dates to Baozi.

"These were brought back by your second and third brother who were driving outside," Liu Huilan explained, "Yesterday, Weiliang came back, showing everyone the remittance slip. How come so much, didn’t let others take advantage of it."

"Mom, stop worrying. Who likes being taken advantage of, really."

"It’s all because of Ancheng, otherwise, how could there be so much," Liu Huilan looked at Xu Ancheng more and more satisfied, also pleased with her daughter’s good judgment.

"Little sis and brother-in-law are here." Yi Weiliang and his group came in from outside, each carrying quite a few things, having prepared goods for the New Year.

Xu Ancheng took Baozi to see the excitement, even reaching out to help, leaving just Liu Huilan and Yi Roujing in the house.

"Do you know that Qiushuang has someone now?" Liu Huilan suddenly leaned in to whisper to her daughter, "I heard he’s from Ning City, from the same school as her. I heard she’s going there for the New Year this year, not coming home. Yesterday, Qiushuang’s mom came to the county, and I happened to meet her while buying vegetables, heard her complaining, said someone came home to talk about it, and they didn’t know anything."

"I know, his name is Chang Zheng, a decent person, like Qiushuang, he’s been married once and has a daughter," Yi Roujing didn’t hide from Liu Huilan, "As for Qiushuang’s family, isn’t it that they’re estranged, how can someone be so cruel to their granddaughter?"

"Maybe because she found someone reliable, her thoughts started to turn. Speaking of which, Qiushuang’s marriage to Ding Jianshe was also set up by her mom, with such short-sightedness, only seeing immediate benefits," Yi Roujing said.

Although Liu Huilan heard that her daughter and Wang Qiushuang had become good friends again, she hadn’t asked face-to-face. Now seeing her daughter’s demeanor, she understood.

"Now, you getting close to her, have you understood? She hasn’t deceived you again, has she? Isn’t there a rumor that she owes you quite a bit of money?"

"Some has been repaid. Now our interactions reciprocate. Since Qiushuang’s daughter fell ill, she’s had a great awakening. This time when she found someone, she even wrote to me to help check. I had Ancheng investigate, and Chang Zheng is a good person. If the two can succeed, it would be wonderful," Yi Roujing said.

"The man’s family conditions aren’t bad. If his parents agree, then the matter should be settled," Yi Roujing said with some anticipation.

At this moment, Wang Qiushuang, who was being thought about, was getting off the car with Niuniu and Little Corn, following Chang Zheng to his home.

Wang Qiushuang was anxious along the way, holding the two children’s hands, sweating slightly. She even stopped multiple times to wipe their palms and hers clean.

With a large sack on his shoulder and holding a mesh bag, Chang Zheng looked at Wang Qiushuang, clearly understanding her. "Don’t be nervous or afraid, I called my parents before we came back, they agreed to you coming home."

"After our relationship was confirmed, I told my family. If they opposed, they would’ve come to my school long ago," Chang Zheng reassured with a smile, "There’s a public restroom over there, want to go?"

Chang Zheng put down the sack and mesh bag, asking Wang Qiushuang and the two kids. The children both shook their heads, so Wang Qiushuang blushingly went first. She was nervous, and when nervous, she had the urge to pee, so when she finished, Chang Zheng went.

"Mom, are we almost at Mr. Chang’s house?" Niuniu, always understanding, tugged at Wang Qiushuang’s clothes gently, "I will help mom with chores."

Little Corn was now close to both Wang Qiushuang and Niuniu. Hearing Niuniu’s words, he also grabbed Wang Qiushuang’s other side’s clothes and said, "Aunt Qiushuang, I’ll do chores too. But can we eat first, my tummy’s rumbling."

Niuniu also covered her stomach with one hand; she was hungry too.

Seeing such well-behaved and understanding children, Wang Qiushuang felt her heart melt, squatting down, she pulled out two candies from the enamel bowl in the mesh bag, giving one to each child, "Have a candy first to tide you over."

"Sweet," Little Corn giggled, very happy, and Niuniu was extremely delighted—there’s no child who doesn’t love candy.

"But that’s your share for the day. Eating too much candy isn’t good for your teeth," Wang Qiushuang said with a gentle smile, holding both children close.

"I will brush my teeth well," Niuniu said.

Little Corn also nodded in agreement.

"What did I say about not talking while eating? Wait until you swallow before speaking," Wang Qiushuang gently reprimanded, Niuniu quickly covered her mouth, her eyes narrowing in a smile as she nodded, and Little Corn imitated, nodding as well, even reaching to wrap his arm around Wang Qiushuang’s neck.
