Chapter 5: Such Arrogance
Is she always this late?
His gaze flickered to the digital table clock placed very close to his computer. Soft, pink lips easing in amusement as the black pen kept twirling restlessly in-between his fingers.
’’Oh, boss. The new intern is here.’’
His hold on the pen tightened as he peered shyly over the computer.
He blinked once, and her lips parted in shock.
Perfect.
He raised himself from the chair, the dull peek of sunlight through the grey clouds gave him an unusual glow as he adjusted the suit fitted perfectly over his lean, yet toned body and broad shoulders.
’’Oh my god...’’ Berry said, as she had never seen anyone this perfect looking before. It made her grip on Stylie tighten as the enigma with the loveliest midnight strands gently complemented his soft white hair moved around the table with a knowing smirk.
Corrine forgot how to breathe.
Not because he was beautiful, but because she recognized him instantly.
’’It’s a pleasure working here with you, boss.’’
Berry and Stylie squealed like two teenagers getting asked out for prom for the first time in forever. Corrine’s heart remained unsettled as her uneasy stare flickered down to one of his outstretched arms.
She stared at the dark silver almost grey rich gloves fitted around those long fingers. They had this dark, really expensive spidery embroidery around it that resembled trouble, danger and fire.
The gloves looked as though they had been kissed by pixies because it sparkled even in the dark.
Her eyes went to his dark designer shoes and the rich clothes on him. The tie that looked to be worth as much as this whole building they were in. The very rare wristwatch strapped around his left wrist and she thought it could be exchanged to own as many good cars as she wanted.
A lovely scent their poor minds couldn’t distinguish filled their senses as he came close.
Corrine looked up to meet those eyes she swore they glitched. Now, they were a more dark brown and she thought she was gazing into a pool of bright stars because they twinkled.
Nothing compared to his smile. It revealed his reckless yet adorable dimples, one that made him indescribably attractive, causing a tense silence to linger between them, as though he had their worlds to a standstill.
Was he even human?
Corrine thought it was impossible for someone to look this beautiful. She frowned, while being reluctant to shake his hands.
Maybe she feared he would also have her wrapped completely in his charm if she did so.
Berry and Stylie stared at their boss in disbelief as Ichor clenched his hand before slowly withdrawing it from her. He was much taller than any of them. His eyes remained fixed on her, burning with determination to get her to acknowledge him once.
He loved how effortlessly beautiful she looked and he had to admit, she must be the most attractive mortal he had ever encountered in his life. Which was all the more reason she would have to deal with him from now on. frёewebnoѵēl.com
’’This must be fate,’’ he began after the long drawn, almost uncomfortable silence between them. ’’We’ve met twice already and that too after being separated for three weeks.’’
’’Isn’t it only considered fate after the third meeting...?’’ Stylie whispered to Berry as the three employees gathered around to admire the beautiful couple.
Berry blinked.
That was the least of her problems.
Her boss has met this hot creature before and still remained the same????
Ichor continued despite the heat of her glares on him. It was unfriendly and almost strewn in annoyance at his words.
’’I didn’t even know my new boss will be the girl I fancied.’’
Stylie and Berry gasped, slapping their hands over their mouths at the same time as they turned to each other with glee. Lin looked the most horrified with his eyes almost popping out of their frames in shock.
Ichor’s gaze moving and backed up with audacity dared to stare at her from head to toe looking pleased.
Corrine said nothing. Not even his confession earned a reaction from her.
He definitely looked pissed when she ignored him the first time they met. It was obvious in the way he glared at her in the elevator. Those eyes were enough to haunt her nightmares and cause her to not be at ease. frёewebηovel.cѳm
Corrine decided never to be afraid of him.
She has dealt with more demons, more jerks in her life to be afraid of one she was sure must have stalked her down to her workplace.
She only smiled before saying in a manner that could be praised at royalty, ’’With all due respect, Mr....’’ Her eyes observed him quickly from head to toe as she recalled that obviously made up name of his that day at the clinic. ’’...Hellworth. I am looking for people who I can train and can add value to my business. And you are certainly not what I am looking for. Please leave,’’
Before I call the cops to drag you out.
There was a slight tease at the corners of his eyebrow as she turned from him, one of the girls quickly following her as they raced down to the transparent cubicle that marked her office.
’’Such arrogance for such a tiny workplace.’’
Corrine froze.
Blood drained completely from Lin’s face. It felt like they had just been all slapped in the face.
Berry panicked as Corrine turned slowly to regard this pest now becoming a thorn in her side. If she was offended or embarrassed by his insult, she did a very good job at hiding it.
Her hands clenching hard enough around the dark straps of her purse as their eyes locked again.
That charming smile no longer to be seen on him as he tried to dominate her with that intense look on his face.
Corrine then felt like she needed to apologize for something she must have done to upset him and it was very strange how he seemed to quickly look down on all of them as if he was some treasured, highly favoured human being.
Or was he?
’’You are right,’’ she began softly, surprising everyone with how calm and collected she was after that slap. Her calmness only intrigued the demon further. ’’It is a very arrogant tiny working space. And those who want to be accepted in this arrogant, tiny working place will either have to be worthy of it or they beg for it.’’
