Chapter 48: Little Brat
{ THE NIGHT OF THE DAY OF CORRINE’s DIAGNOSIS}
Grim stepped out of the car trying not to feel already irritated as he turned to glare at the little creature who had nearly gotten him into trouble.
He began to wonder how hard it was to reach a place on time.
Azazel in the driver’s seat moved to stare at the little girl who appeared out of nowhere and was this close to getting run over with. His eyes moved over to his boss worriedly as he stepped close to the kid looking so unkept and without shoes on.
Grim tried not to roll his eyes when the girl stared at him with a bright and innocent smile. Her eyes trained on him in deep admiration as he moved close enough and fell on one knee before her.
His brown eyes observed her closely, relieved that she wasn’t hurt. He then tried to instill fear in her by giving her a cold look but the strange girl simply kept smiling at him, so easily swayed by a pretty face and body at such a young age.

He tried to contain his irritation before saying to the girl.
’’If you want to die, don’t choose me as your murderer next time,’’ he warned, trying to sound intimidating but the strange girl chuckled, clinging on to a stuffed animal. Grim then wondered where she came from.
Who her parents or guardians were? And how could they be so careless. He stared around briefly on the busy road for anybody looking for a missing child before returning to the weird girl yet to stop looking at him in that way.
Then he saw how hurt her feet was from walking around barefooted and asked, ’’Where are your shoes?’’
’’I don’t have any,’’ She answered almost too enthusiastically for a girl without shoes.
Then he thought of just leading her from the road and getting on with his business. The girl stared at him, craning her head up as the demon rose to his full height. Grim looked at the busy road with cars racing back and forth and thought this was far from being a playground for kids.
’’This is not a place for you to run about and play at. Not every driver is nice enough to hit the brakes fast enough to save a life—’’
’’Your Highness, please buy me a shoe. My feet hurt a lot.’’ ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Grim flinched back a bit when the weird kid came close enough to grab two of his gloved fingers.
’’What?’’ he asked the child in disbelief, thinking who was the most insane between them. The one without shoes or the one she thought would be generous enough to take her shopping just like that. Without knowing who she was or fearing if he might hold any ill intentions towards her.
But anyways.
She stepped out from behind the curtains, showing off her new pair of polished sneakers that squeaked against the marbled floor with every move she took.
’’Wow! Oh, my god you are so pretty! That shoe was made just for you, little girl!’’
She smiled brightly, her dark grey eyes sparkling under the light as the shop owner along with her attendants praised her non stop.
Grim’s eyes wandered off to the collections of clothes suitable for a girl her size and age and encouraged the girl to try anyone she liked out of it.
The girl selected one with the help of the nice shop owner and her girls. Grim watched as they all happily showed her their latest clothes and designs, obviously trying to persuade her to buy everything. He sighed, throwing his head back wondering how long it will take for her to pick her favourite.
After a while, the girl rushed towards him, putting on new clothes and shoes and said in that adorable tone she was sure he wouldn’t be able to resist.
Grim watched as her hands moved to tug on a piece of his dress and said, ’’Your Highness. I am hungry. Buy me something to eat,’’ She demanded with a dimpled smile, already taking advantage of his generosity.
Grim blinked severely at the girl, his mouth parting slightly in disbelief at the little brat.
Grim had no idea which human restaurant would be suitable for a...seven maybe nine years old? But he took her to the only place he could think of. He was so uncomfortable that he couldn’t order anything for himself and just watched her eat and select more expensive things on the menu like she was already assured he could afford everything here.
’’Hmm,’’ She chewed happily on the three thousand dollar stake her little finger pointed at. He watched her clumsily hold the fork and knife, swinging her legs happily under the table as she ate, making a mess of her mouth.
Grim could no longer take it in. He stared at the annoying creature with a death glare and each time he tried to scare her she would return his cold looks with a friendly smile.
No wonder nobody is looking for her.
She was probably such a pain and annoyingly so.
’’Little girl,’’ he began, drowning the mood slightly with his aura. ’’Do you know who I am?’’
The girl looked up from her food, slightly amused before dropping the fork and knife, reaching out to the table napkin to wipe the traces of sauce savagely around her mouth.
Then she leaned back on the chair twice as tall as her and matched his death stares with a look stranger than the one he has been used to.
’’I don’t know who you are. So, tell me who you think you are, Ichoraisis?’’

She stepped out of the car the moment it slowed to a stop before a building.
A clinic with many floors and impressive structure.
Grim stood beside the creature, his hands buried deep in his pockets as she led him towards what looked like a place for sick people. A place where mortals get treated for all their afflictions.
He stared down at the strange girl and found her staring at the building with an accomplished smile.
’’You don’t want to get injected next, do you?’’
The girl turned to face the prince of hell and pointed at the building.
’’There, my sister is there. We got separated on our way here and she must be worried sick.’’
Grim frowned, feeling strange about all of this.
’’She must be crying too, wondering where I am.’’
A tense silence echoed between them. Grim felt unsure about all of this.
’’Your Highness has been very kind to me. But will you be kind enough to find my sister?’’
Grim felt ridiculous about the request. But there was also something about what she asked him to do that he couldn’t say no to.
He felt like he was being taken advantaged of and blinded to do something he later never regretted ever doing.
He raised his eyebrows at the child.
’’If your sister is in there, you can just go in and look for her yourself,’’ he said, not meaning to be harsh about it.
Her eyes lowered to the ground in sadness and Grim wondered how he was supposed to find someone he has never seen or even have any idea about. Hell, he doesn’t even know this human child and thought of just leaving. He had already done enough to make up for almost ending her life tonight.
But...
’’Please,’’ she begged him unexpectedly. ’’She looks just like me, shorter in height and very beautiful. She has dark green eyes,’’ Tears flowed down her cheeks as she described her sister.
’’I have promised to give her something tonight.’’
Grim felt a bit tense as the creature held his hands again and begged.
’’And I don’t want to disappoint her.’’
Grim sighed, looking away from her as he thought he could simply find her sister and end whatever this was between them.
Grim entered the clinic, took the elevator with the intention of finding another seven or nine year old moving around this building with dark green eyes. He walked over to the human waiting behind the desk to ask her if she had seen any with his description. But he quickly got distracted when the human wouldn’t stop showering him with compliments of his extraordinary looks and then someone with dark green eyes appeared but she couldn’t have been the sister of that little creep waiting for him outside.
’’You’re the clumsy kind, right?’’
He said, trying to get her to notice him but failed to do so.
When the nurse behind the desk and him failed to look for a seven year old matching his description in the building, Grim gave up and stepped outside the building.
He paused when that weird child was no longer waiting in the exact spot he left her at. He stared around briefly but there was no sign of her anywhere.
Strange.
What’s even stranger was that the little brat didn’t even have the decency to thank him for wasting his time and money on her tonight.
Not to mention that he had met an interesting human tonight.
Grim smiled, shrugging off that feeling and decided to carry on with his life when he stepped on a pair of shoes.
He stepped back when he recognized those shoes and bent over to pick one up. He noticed the strange words written inside the shoes and read it.
Thank you so much for finding my sister, Your Highness.
Grim moved one eyebrow at the words in disbelief. Then he picked the second pair and read the words written inside of it as well.
Take good care of her.
