Chapter 49: My Very Best 1
And he had been trying his best ever since then.
The rain that fell that night brought in an unusual calm over the face of the earth that night. Twelve demons or rather known as the Twelve Apostles of Azazel gathered around the bed, nourishing the human His Highness brought with him with their Good Demonic Energy.
A glowing golden pentagram array was cast above the two on the bed as demons dressed in dark suits released their magic nonstop to stop the human from perishing that night.
All her cells were weakened, she had been unconscious for hours and the disciples were growing drained of their demonic energy but they dared not stop if they truly wished to see the next sunrise.
Azazel led in front, contributing the greatest amount of good demonic energy being transferred into the body of the human.
He sat behind her unconscious form, gently stroking her cheeks as she leaned on him with her back. One hand secured around her waist as he held the fragile strands of her hair and wondered how he never noticed anything about her.
How he hadn’t sensed her life force fading or notice how her hair gradually reduced in volume.
His golden eyes moved as he stared at a single strand and watched as it collapsed with the slightest pull. He gently tugged at another strand and watched it fall just as easily. Then he stared down at her, his heart breaking each time she slept still in his hold.
Like she was no longer with them.
His hands trembled each time he would place it close to her nostrils to confirm if she was still with him.
She was scaring him with every moment it took for her to open her eyes again.
He wanted to see those dark green eyes again.
His arms curved tightly around her waist as he clung to her, placing his head on top of hers.
He never thought there would come a time he would be so scared of something bad happening to him. He was mostly used to it or prepared right enough for it.
He hated this feeling and more importantly he hated how useless the so–called elite demons of Hell before him were in making her conscious again.
’’I am not going to forgive your inability to bring her back to me,’’ Grim threatened as he held his love and lightly moved his lips down the curve of her neck.
Some demons exchanged uneasy glances, silently regretting their decision to become Hell’s elite disciples. Others gulped as sweat poured down from their face like rain and gave in their best, exhausting their demon cores and trembling as they forced out more than they could give.
’’I am not letting you go anywhere,’’ he whispered as he took one of her hands in his. ’’You are going to be fine as long as I am here. I will get rid of whatever is causing you this much pain and keep you by my side forever,’’ he promised as he whispered non stop behind her ears, slowly losing his mind as he wondered how long she was going to remain like this. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
His frown deepened as he looked away and said in a tone dark enough to make all the twelve demons with him nervous.
’’When will I get answers to what is wrong with her?!’’
The sky rumbled as no one dared to mumble a word back to him. The demons held their breaths, even Azazel feared the growing thunderstorm getting out of control if they did not do something or at least bring this human back to consciousness or they were all getting lifetime sentences in the dreadful Madness cave.
Azazel’s face scrunched up in determination as he transferred more of his magic into the array placed above the unconscious human.
’’Am I talking to myself or you all wish to be buried alive tonight?’’
One demon whimpered, feeling the anger and growing irritation of the forbidden fruit. Their Royal Highness rarely gets angry or threatens those below him with death. Things all changed when this human seduced him and brought them nothing but pain and anxiety all through. Hell, they can’t even afford to make the slightest eye contact with him now or they might all be burned to a crisp by that dark golden gaze of his.
What were they supposed to do now?
Lightning split across the sky, signalling the young prince’s irritation.
The demons turned to each other and wondered how to make His Highness understand that this was already probably beyond what they could control. It’s best if they take her to a hospital and let the humans take better care of their own.
But the demon that suggested that, turned to bones and ashes right before their eyes. The memory of that demon’s death was something no living being had to go through.
And it was all because of this human.
A demon clenched his teeth out of anger.
Just when Grim made up his mind to kill them all because of their incompetence, the door to his bedroom opened and a trembling demon with a stethoscope and a lab coat walked in with more of Azazel’s elite disciples behind him.
The demon stared about, reading the tension and physical abuse ongoing in the room and thought it was best he handled the delivery of the news wisely or he might be the next person to be swallowed whole by the ancient serpent.
He entered like a sheep being led inside a den of angry wolves. He had been called to collect the blood samples of the human earlier and he could never forget the look the ancient serpent gave him when he brought out the needle he intended to use to collect her blood.
The audacity the demon had to remove such a dangerous weapon and intended to use on the wrist of his precious human caused the demon to be thrown and pinned against the wall, unable to breathe and all the bones around his neck being crushed severely under the serpents overwhelming magic. If not for Azazel and a few demons that intervened and explained his intention to the ancient serpent, he would have been dead a few hours ago.
The poor doctor gulped when a pair of dark gold eyes fell murderously on him, threatening to suck his entire life force if he wished to draw another of her precious life force.
’’Your Royal Highness—’’ Nope, that came out very wrong. It wasn’t his fault when he was standing right before a demon much older and powerful than his ancestors, about to deliver the results of his numerous tests he had to do back at his hospital and return right before chaos spread about! As a result he didn’t need a soothsayer to tell him might be delivered at the risk of his tiring existence as a demon.
The demon gulped almost breaking down in tears when Grim refused to avert his gaze from the demon. He turned to Azazel, hoping their boss would be so kind enough to say what he had to say on his behalf.
But his boss pretended not to know him.
We all have suffered and tried to handle the situation. You are all on your own and the lives and futures of all us and our next generation all depends on what you have to say tonight.
The demons paused from transferring whatever spiritual energy they had left within them and listened to what the doctor had to say to them. Maybe they could find a better way to put an end to this madness.
Grim tilted his head a bit to the side when the trembling demon stalled on saying what he had to say.
’’Speak,’’ Azazel nudged the demon with a glare and the demon decided whether he chose to speak or not, he was sure his death tonight was inevitable. He only wished for a painless death from His Royal Highness.
’’Your Greatness,’’ he began, his voice wavered bit by bit as he tried to appear confident and bold.
’’Miss Winfield is suffering from low red blood cell count and three malignant tumors in various parts of her system. Three of them are located in her brain. It’s starting to spread in places that could threaten her life and most importantly impair certain and vital functions of her brain and nervous system,’’ he delivered intelligently, feeling a thousand eyes on him as silence followed after his report.
Grim stared at the demon who just said a whole lot of gibberish to him in one breath and said after a tense silence that lingered in the room.
Corrine remaining unconscious in his hold.
’’You still haven’t said anything that makes sense to me.’’
The demon doctor gulped heavily, almost choking at the way His royal highness stared at him insanely. He knew their kind barely understood how the human body worked and the various illnesses that threaten the normal functioning of the human body.
Not to mention most humans living past seventy years by grace and all. He thought he could escape being buried alive if he hid the true health status of the human in all that he said. The doctor felt his heart sink to the floor as he struggled to convey the situation to them in the best way that they could understand.
Though this human might have at most a few years to live before now, he noticed how strange the cancer was, even affecting the circulation of blood and nutrients in her body, weakening all cells faster than any other thing he had seen since he took on his job in 1801. It even destroyed some heart muscles directly and killed all blood cells necessary for oxygenation. It was a miracle how the human had made it this far. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
The cancer was a mutant. A strange parasitic organism that had been injected into her blood system and her body was desperately fighting to get rid of, hence the tumors.
’’Your Royal Highness,’’ the demon doctor began with a sigh and from the corner of his eyes he saw one disciple shake his head at him, warning him not to say anything that was sure to get him killed.
But does he have another choice?
He would hate for the Serpent to find out about this later on on when it was too late. Then that would mark the beginning of his hell on earth.
’’In simple words, your woman might not make it to the end of this week.’’
