Chapter 106: Chapter 106
Caden’s POV
By the time I reach my father’s wing of the pack house, the anger inside me is already burning out of control.
My steps are heavy and fast as I move down the long hallway and every person who sees me quickly moves out of the way like their life depends on it.
Maybe it does.
Two maids are walking toward the corridor carrying folded sheets but the moment they notice my face their expressions turn pale.
They freeze.
Then they quickly lower their heads and try to move aside.
But I am already too angry to care.
"Move," I snap.
They scramble away immediately and one of them drops the sheets she was carrying.
I keep walking.
My fists are clenched so tightly that my knuckles feel stiff.
The image of Summer lying unconscious keeps replaying in my mind and every single time it does my anger grows stronger.
A ten year old girl.
A child.
My brother’s daughter.
And the person who poisoned her had the nerve to sit at the same table with her and smile like nothing was wrong.
My father.
Sebastian.
The door to his chambers finally comes into view.
Two guards are standing outside like usual but the moment they see me approaching their faces change.
They can see the rage on my face.
Neither of them says anything.
They simply step aside quickly.
Good choice.
I don’t even slow down.
My foot slams against the door and it bursts open loudly.
The heavy wood crashes against the wall with a loud bang.
Inside the room, Sebastian is sitting on the edge of his bed.
He looks up instantly when the door flies open.
For a moment he just stares at me.
Then his brows pull together in confusion.
"Caden?"
I walk into the room slowly.
Every step I take feels heavier than the last.
The anger inside my chest is boiling now.
Sebastian stands up from the bed."What is this about?" he asks.
My jaw tightens.
Why?
That single word keeps repeating in my mind.
Why would he do something like that?
Why would he poison a child?
I stop a few feet away from him.
"Why?" I ask quietly.
Sebastian blinks."Why what?"
The moment he says that, my patience snaps.
I lift my hand and drag it across my face in frustration.
"Stop asking me fucking stupid questions," I snap angrily.
My voice echoes across the room.
Sebastian’s expression hardens slightly."Watch your tone," he says coldly.
I step closer to him.
My eyes are burning with rage now. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"Tell me why you would poison a ten year old girl who has done nothing wrong to you," I say through clenched teeth.
Sebastian’s face immediately changes."What?"
"Summer," I continue harshly.
"Just after having a meal with you she collapsed and now she’s unconscious."
The room goes silent.
Sebastian stares at me like he cannot believe what he just heard.
"That is ridiculous," he says slowly.
I let out a harsh laugh."Is it?"
"Yes," he replies firmly.
"I would never—"
Before he can finish his sentence, I lose control.
My fist swings forward and crashes straight into his face.
The punch lands hard.
Sebastian is thrown backward instantly and his body slams against the wall before he crashes onto the floor.
The sound echoes loudly through the room.
He groans and slowly lifts his head.
Blood is already running from his mouth."You dare," he growls.
My chest rises and falls quickly as I stare down at him.
"You poisoned a child," I say coldly.
Sebastian wipes the blood from his lips and slowly pushes himself to his feet.
"I did no such thing," he snaps.
"Oh really?" I reply sarcastically.
"Then explain why she collapsed after eating with you."
Sebastian’s eyes narrow."Who told you that story?"
My anger spikes again."You think this is a story?" I shout.
"Summer is lying unconscious right now!"
Sebastian opens his mouth again but I don’t let him speak.
I rush at him again and throw another punch.
This time he blocks it.
His hand grabs my wrist and he shoves me backward with force.
My back hits the table behind me and it breaks apart under the impact.
Sebastian’s expression has changed completely now.
His eyes are filled with anger."You have lost your mind," he growls.
"Maybe," I reply while cracking my knuckles.
"But at least I don’t poison children."
Sebastian’s jaw tightens."I said I did not do it."
I shake my head slowly."You expect me to believe that?"
For a moment we just stare at each other. Then his body suddenly shifts.
The sound of bones cracking fills the room as his Alpha wolf forces its way out.
His form grows larger as thick dark fur spreads across his body.
Within seconds the large wolf is standing in front of me.
Its eyes are glowing with rage.
I feel my lips slowly curve into a smirk.
Finally,
"I’ve been wanting this for a long time, father," I say calmly.
My own wolf begins pushing forward immediately.
Bones snap and muscles stretch as my body shifts into my wolf form.
The room is suddenly too small for both of us as two large wolves circle each other slowly.
The tension in the air is heavy.
Then Sebastian’s wolf lunges first.
His massive body crashes into mine and we both slam into the wall behind me.
The impact shakes the entire room.
I growl and snap my jaws toward his neck but he moves just in time.
His claws rake across my shoulder and pain shoots through my side.
I push him back with force and slam my body against his.
The furniture in the room breaks apart as we crash into it.
Sebastian lunges again.
His teeth snap dangerously close to my throat but I twist my body and bite into his side instead.
He roars loudly and throws me off.
I land on the floor and immediately push myself back to my feet.
The room is already destroyed.
Wood and broken pieces of furniture are scattered everywhere.
Sebastian charges again.
This time I met him head on.
Our bodies slam together with brutal force and we both tumble across the floor.
He manages to bite into my arm and I growl loudly before slamming my paw into his jaw.
The hit sends him crashing into the wall again.
Blood drips from his mouth as he pushes himself up.
But I can see it now.
I have the upper hand. I lunge forward again and slam my full weight into him.
The wall behind him cracks from the impact.
He tries to push me away but I bite down hard on his shoulder and throw him across the room.
His body crashes into the broken table again.
He struggles to stand but I am already moving.
I slam him onto the ground and pin him there. My claws press against his throat.
Sebastian growls weakly beneath me.
I shift back to my human form slowly.
My chest rises and falls heavily as I stare down at him.
Blood runs down my arm but I barely feel it."This ends today," I say coldly. "You end today"
Sebastian glares up at me but he is too injured to move properly."You’re making a grace mistake Caden"
I raise my fist.
One final strike.
One final blow that will end everything.
But just as my fist begins to move—
A voice suddenly screams from the doorway.
"NO, CADEN! DON’T DO IT!"
