Chapter 192: Chapter 192: Joneus Takes the Field
There was a certain world...
It was magnificent, golden, and radiant, overflowing with dazzling light, no less glorious than the legendary Land of Light itself. But the people there were nothing like the Ultra warriors of the Land of Light. They did not uphold saintly morals and defend the safety of the multiverse.
In their eyes, as a higher civilization, they had the right to dominate all lesser civilizations. Power was the very foundation upon which civilization stood, and a beautiful nation like the Land of Light ought to be ruled by stronger warriors, not handed over to a bunch of weak, softhearted Ultra warriors whose moral standards were practically saintlike.
Of course, these cosmic civilizations also knew just how formidable the Land of Light was. They knew it was packed with one overpowered cheater after another, the kind who could shake their rule to its core. So the ultimate life form of the Absolutian Kingdom, Absolute Tartarus, decided to assemble the strongest organization imaginable, a force that could cross the multiverse and gather countless enemies of the Ultras, then use that power to deal with the Land of Light’s cheaters.
"This universe is wrong."
After crossing time and space into a parallel universe, Absolute Tartarus’s original goal had been to recruit one of the Ultras’ greatest enemies, Ultraman Zero’s archrival, Father of Ultra’s old friend and opponent, the immensely powerful Ultraman Belial.
But the moment Tartarus arrived in this parallel universe, he realized something was very wrong. Ken, the original Father of Ultra, had suffered even worse injuries than he had in the Great Ultra War of the Land of Light’s recorded history. This time, Alien Empera had not only torn up Ken’s left kidney, he had also inflicted irreversible damage on the right one.
The double injury to both kidneys kept tormenting Ken, making it impossible for him to fight for long stretches at a time and turning him into a kidney-shot warrior who just couldn’t last in a prolonged battle.
And after Ken’s stamina gave out, the one who took over as captain of the Inter Galactic Defense Force was Belial, who came to be respectfully called the Daddy of Ultra by the other Ultra warriors.
"This is strange. The history here is completely different from what I know..."
"Forget it. I’ll stick to the plan and try recruiting Belial anyway."
Tartarus was deeply puzzled, but after thinking it over for a while, he decided to proceed as planned and attempt to recruit Belial.
"So you’re Belial?"
Tartarus waited and waited until Belial was finally alone, then descended from the sky and landed in front of him.
"Hm?!"
"Who are you? I’ve never seen you before."
Belial frowned at the suddenly appearing Tartarus. Although the being in front of him also radiated the power of light, it was different from the light of the Ultras. The light in this man carried none of the holiness light ought to possess.
"So you’re Belial?"
"Come with me. I’ll show you the truth."
Tartarus looked Belial over from top to bottom, then smiled faintly and pointed lightly at him.
The next second, the future fate of the main-universe Belial was poured straight into Belial’s mind.
"Did you see it, Belial?"
"Leaving with me is your best choice."
Tartarus smiled at Belial, clearly certain he had this in the bag.
"What a load of crap!"
What Tartarus did not expect was that Belial was not convinced in the slightest, neither by Tartarus’s words nor by the future he had been shown. Instead, he stared at Tartarus in fury.
"You used some cheap illusion to try and fool me. Who the hell are you?"
"What?!"
Tartarus had not expected Belial to dismiss his power so completely. He froze for a moment, then snapped back into what was clearly his favorite part of any encounter, introducing himself.
"I have no idea what is wrong with your head, but since you asked, I’ll tell you. I am the ultimate life form of the Absolutian race, Absolute Tartarus. Remember that."
"Ultimate life form?"
Belial arched a brow after hearing Tartarus’s answer.
"Then let me see what you can do."
As he spoke, Belial’s body blurred into an afterimage and he launched himself straight at Tartarus.
"Good!"
Tartarus had already wanted to test Belial’s strength, so when he saw Belial charging at him, he let out a cold laugh and rushed forward too.
With a thunderous boom, the two launched into a brutal fistfight that made the heart race.
Belial’s left hooks, right hooks, and relentless straight punches all landed with crushing force, but Tartarus fought even more viciously, with every strike aimed directly at Belial’s weak points.
The pressure on Belial mounted, and he was forced backward again and again.
The battle continued without pause, raging so fiercely it darkened the sky and shook the earth, until it seemed even the members of the Inter Galactic Defense Force had realized their captain was locked in a life-or-death struggle.
"Haha..."
"Looks like company’s here."
"In that case, I guess we’ll have to save the rest for next time."
Looking at the Ultra warriors converging on him from all directions, Tartarus knew the situation had turned against him. Staying any longer would just mean letting himself get surrounded. Once he reached that conclusion, he decided it was time to fall back on his greatest specialty as the ultimate escape artist and get the hell out while he still could.
"You’re trying to run?"
"Did you ask me first?"
"You think the Land of Light is somewhere you can just come and go as you please?"
Belial had absolutely no intention of letting Tartarus escape. He threw everything he had into one all-out strike aimed at Tartarus.
"You think you can keep me here?!"
"Heh. You’re not qualified."
Tartarus clearly did not take Belial seriously. Lightning coiled around one hand as he unleashed his signature technique, Absolute Destruction!
Boom!
"Ah..."
Belial took Absolute Destruction head-on and let out a low groan. That attack had hit him hard.
"Farewell, warrior of the Land of Light."
Tartarus let out a cold snort as he looked at the Ultras rushing toward him. Even now, at the moment of retreat, he still carried that inborn elegance of his.
After offering his farewell to the Ultra warriors, Tartarus gave a light backward leap and his figure vanished from the Land of Light in an instant.
"Belial!"
"Lord Belial..."
Only after Tartarus had disappeared did Belial’s underlings and fans rush in, surrounding him and anxiously asking whether he was hurt.
"I’m fine..."
Belial, now bleached pale and weakened far more than he should have been, shook his head. He was definitely not fine, but he had no face to admit he had been injured by some unknown enemy.
"We’ll chase him down and avenge you right now!"
One of the more hotheaded Ultra warriors looked ready to charge off that very moment and avenge his idol, his father figure.
"Stop!"
Belial shook his head. He hated that little golden man too, but he still had his reason. He knew full well these young Ultras were absolutely no match for that monster.
"You are not that creature’s opponents."
"Uh..."
After hearing Belial say that, the Ultra warriors all froze. They had never imagined that Belial, whose strength was said to shake the heavens and who had once saved the Dark Great Space Emperor and the whole universe from disaster, would give such a high evaluation to that golden invader.
"From today onward, we rotate shifts and protect the Land of Light’s security with absolute seriousness."
"Until my injuries recover, no one is to let their guard down..."
"As for that golden bastard..."
"We are obviously not letting him go just like that. Send someone to U40. We’ll leave this matter to Joneus."
"I trust he has the strength for it..."
Belial’s eyes sharpened. He knew that little golden man possessed power equal to, and perhaps even greater than, his own. With himself injured and Pete living in seclusion, there was only one Ultra warrior he could think of who might be able to deal with him, the strongest warrior of U40, Joneus, whose might did not fall short of Belial’s in the least.
No, if you counted the Sword of Wisdom that still remained on U40, then Joneus might even surpass him.
The thought made Belial feel a flash of anger. The Land of Light had once possessed a weapon powerful enough to rival U40’s too, the Ultra Blade. Unfortunately, that blade had vanished into the vastness of space together with Ultrawoman Marie and the missing Alien Empera.
"Understood..."
The Ultra warriors, having received Belial’s orders, immediately set off for U40.
"Hmph..."
A trace of viciousness flickered in Belial’s gaze as he made his way toward the Land of Light’s medical division, supported by the other Ultra warriors.
On a deep crimson planet...
An old schemer suddenly opened his eyes. Though he remained on that remote world, his awareness watched over the entire universe.
No one even remembered how old this man was. The only thing anyone knew was that he had already walked the cosmos before the Land of Light was ever born.
He possessed power greater than that of all the Ultra warriors in the Land of Light, and the world honored him as Ultraman King.
"Alien Empera..."
"You really have had an enormous impact on this universe."
"Belial, please don’t walk down the wrong path. I really don’t want to have to lock you in prison."
Ultraman King shook his head. He could clearly see the future and know every person’s fate. He was even more all-knowing and all-powerful than the Alien Reiblood who had once been called the all-knowing, all-powerful cosmic being, and yet he still held expectations for others.
It was as if he hoped someone could break fate itself.
"Joneus..."
"Lord Belial has given an order. You are to investigate the one who invaded the Land of Light and injured him."
When the young Ultra warrior from the Land of Light arrived at U40, his face was full of smug arrogance. Under Belial’s influence, the entire Land of Light had already begun walking down the wrong road.
"I understand..."
Dressed in a white robe like something out of ancient Greece, with a calm and detached demeanor like a sage, a shining five-pointed star on his forehead, and a body built with sharply defined muscles that radiated the pure philosophy of muscle, the universe-renowned super warrior and strongest Ultra of U40, Ultraman Joneus, answered without the slightest anger.
Joneus did not take offense at the other Ultra’s rudeness. He was magnanimous and tolerant. To him, the giant in front of him was just an immature child who had barely grown up. Getting angry at a child would only make him seem petty.
"Hmph! I seriously don’t know why Lord Belial would hand this mission to some backwater Ultra like you."
"If it were up to me, this thing would already be solved!"
The Ultra warrior from the Land of Light glared at Joneus in irritation, then took off and flew away.
"Joneus, that guy was way too arrogant. Let me go up there and teach him a lesson."
After the young Ultra warrior left, another Ultra stepped out beside Joneus, his entire body packed with muscle like a professional bodybuilder.
"It’s fine."
Joneus shook his head, clearly not taking the younger warrior’s disrespect to heart.
"But Joneus, that bastard was way out of line. Even if a hundred guys like him came at once, they still wouldn’t be your match."
The muscular Ultra’s expression was full of displeasure as he clenched his fists, visibly angry.
"There is no need for us to waste our anger on people like that."
Joneus shook his head again, as steady and composed as ever. And just as the younger Ultra had said, a rookie like that would never be his match, not if a hundred came, not even if a thousand came.
But U40 simply could not afford the cost of offending the Land of Light. Unlike the Land of Light, where practically everyone could grow gigantic, only a very small number of U40’s people could do that. For the sake of his home, Joneus had no choice but to appear to obey Belial’s commands.
"But..."
The musclebound Ultra still seemed unwilling to let it go on Joneus’s behalf.
"It’s fine. I’ll go see for myself who this alien is, the one who managed to injure Belial."
"While I’m gone, U40 is in your hands, Titas." fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Joneus patted the shoulder of this promising young warrior of U40, then turned and walked into the distance.
"I..."
"All right. Leave it to me, Joneus! Be careful out there!"
Titas shouted toward Joneus’s back.
Joneus said nothing. He simply left Titas with a back so dependable it made anyone who saw it feel at ease.
Elsewhere...
Tartarus had been studying this warped version of the Land of Light for quite some time.
And he had discovered a serious problem.
"The problem isn’t in the Land of Light..."
"The problem is Alien Empera. That’s what threw this universe’s history out of alignment and plunged every civilization and all order into chaos."
"Interesting. In that case, I think I’ll go meet this universe’s Alien Empera myself."
The corner of Tartarus’s mouth curled upward. He had already uncovered the secret of this universe. Very soon, he would understand everything.
"Hm?!"
"Hmph. That annoying guy caught up to me."
"Looks like I’ll have to move faster."
Just as Tartarus was enjoying himself, a strange fluctuation stirred his irritation. He opened a golden space-time gate, and in the next instant his figure vanished into the universe.
