Chapter 193: Chapter 193: Saving the World, One Scam at a Time

Several days had already passed since Jovian had sent Daigo to the world of Shin Ultraman, no, more accurately, to the Shin Japan Heroes Universe, that weird composite world made up of Shin Ultraman, Shin Godzilla, Shin Kamen Rider, and Shin Evangelion. During those days, Jovian had been doing exactly one thing, resting.

That was right, he had been resting the entire time, and as for defending Earth’s peace, he had dumped that job straight onto the Kyriel.

What could he say? They really did live up to the hype. As expected of a species that could learn and evolve, the same mid-boss from the original story who had once forced Tiga into Glitter Tiga and, like Tiga’s final boss the evil god Gatanozoa, carried that proto-Cthulhu Mythos flavor, every monster on Earth worth a damn had been effortlessly beaten by the Kyriel these past few days.

But there was one very serious problem. Even though the Kyriel had saved the world again and again, Earthlings still had no intention of calling him a god, and because of that, he had come looking for Jovian.

"This is nothing like what you told me!"

"I already did everything you said!"

"But I haven’t received the respect I was supposed to get!"

The Kyriel sat across from Jovian, fists clenched, brows tightly knitted, his eyes full of the anger of someone who felt he had been toyed with.

"What’s wrong? Tell me about it."

Jovian looked at the furious Kyriel in confusion.

"Cut the act. You were playing me, weren’t you?"

"You turned me into your hired muscle!"

The Kyriel glared at Jovian and vented his anger.

"Watch your mouth."

Before Jovian could even respond, a beam shot out from the shadows behind him. The whip, crackling with electricity, instantly wrapped itself around the Kyriel’s arm.

"You are..."

The Kyriel looked toward the figure in the shadows and froze. He stared at the woman dressed in black robes, radiating queenly authority from head to toe, and recognition flashed in his eyes. He remembered now. This woman was one of the dark giants who had rampaged across the world thirty million years ago.

"So you’ve gotten involved with these dark giants?"

The Kyriel questioned Jovian. He could sense that Jovian was different, but he still had no way of seeing through his true identity. At this moment, he had not realized Jovian was Dark Tiga in disguise.

"Calm down..." freeweɓnovel.cøm

"I’m just trying to tell you that even one of my women is strong enough to beat you."

"So the idea that I need to use you as some kind of thug is completely ridiculous."

Jovian wore a faint smile as he calmly tried to reason with him.

"Well..."

"That actually makes some sense."

After hearing that, the Kyriel nodded. He reluctantly believed Jovian’s explanation.

"If you want to leave your mark in humanity’s heart, raw power alone isn’t enough."

"You also need enough communication."

"You need to make humanity accept you. You need to make them sincerely believe you’re a good person."

Jovian smiled and began explaining what the Kyriel needed to do.

"I see..."

The Kyriel’s eyes widened instantly after hearing Jovian’s words. It felt like a revelation had hit him out of nowhere. Still, a feeling was just a feeling, and there was still one very important question he needed to ask.

"So how exactly do I take control of Earth?"

"It’s simple. You need two things."

"Power, and kindness."

Jovian raised two fingers at the Kyriel.

"Power? Kindness?"

The Kyriel frowned.

"That’s right."

Jovian nodded firmly.

"But..." The Kyriel was deeply puzzled. He looked at Jovian and asked, "I already have the power to destroy the world. Isn’t that enough to make Earthlings submit?"

"It is," Jovian said, nodding first and then shaking his head. "But that only gets you surface-level submission. You need to watch your back, or somebody from this country is going to stab you there and pull some low-to-high power play straight out of their bones. There’s a saying for that. The moment you turn your back on the masses and place yourself high above them, you’re also exposing your whole ass."

"A low-to-high power play?!"

The Kyriel panicked. He did not fully understand everything Jovian had said, but he absolutely understood that part. He had spent years on Earth and had seen that kind of thing happen on this island nation over and over again. At once, he fell into thought.

"Don’t worry. Having power is only the first step toward ruling Earthlings."

"After that, you also need to be kind enough."

Jovian continued reminding him.

"So I should move people with love?"

The Kyriel looked at Jovian carefully.

"Love can move people?"

Jovian’s eyes filled with contempt the moment he heard that.

"You really think love can move people?"

Jovian turned and looked at Camearra, who was standing behind him.

"I don’t believe love can move people."

Camearra shook her head.

"I don’t believe it either. What kind of normal person puts faith in love?"

Jovian looked out the window, his eyes full of disdain for the very idea.

"I believe in love."

Just as Jovian was dismissing it all, Marie, possessing Rena, walked into the room and spoke to him with absolute sincerity.

"Go stand somewhere else."

Jovian glanced at Marie, waved one hand, and a massive burst of telekinetic force shoved her right back out of the room.

"All right, now that the interruption is gone..."

After forcing Marie out, Jovian turned back to the Kyriel.

"Please teach me what I should do."

The Kyriel still had no idea what the winning move was, so he asked again.

"Man."

"You really are slow. No wonder you’ve been on Earth all these years and still haven’t managed to conquer it."

Jovian laughed lightly, clearly mocking him.

The Kyriel felt a flicker of displeasure, but he did not argue. Right now, he still needed Jovian. He still needed Jovian to tell him how to rule Earth.

"The method is actually very simple." Jovian looked at the Kyriel and explained softly, "All you need to do is put on a show. Let the people of this world see that you’re kind and friendly."

"That’s all?"

Distrust filled the Kyriel’s eyes. He had not expected Jovian’s grand solution to be this simple.

"Human beings only want to see what they want to see. They don’t like seeing what they don’t want to see."

"You just need to put on a good show and make everyone think you’re the kind of person you want them to believe you are."

Jovian quietly explained human nature to him.

"I see..."

"In that case, I know exactly what I need to do now."

The Kyriel nodded lightly and left the room full of confidence, convinced he now knew the answer.

"Idiot..."

Jovian watched him leave and let out a scornful laugh. If the Kyriel’s tricks actually worked, he would have become Earth’s master a long time ago.

Too bad. The Kyriel did not understand the human heart. He would never truly become humanity’s god.

"All right, I should go out for a walk myself."

Jovian rose from his seat, stretched a little, and prepared to leave the base.

"Tiga, where are you going?"

Camearra looked at Jovian as he was about to head out and asked.

"While I’m out, I’ll leave this place to you."

"A friend should be dropping by pretty soon. The moment he arrives, notify me immediately."

Jovian looked at Camearra and gave his instructions.

"Understood."

Camearra nodded lightly to show she got it.

"Daigo really is young..."

"He never even thought to use both his identities, Tiga and Daigo, to win over Camearra and Rena at the same time. Pathetic. Not like me. I’d make them, and Marie too, all mine."

With Camearra’s promise secured, Jovian hummed to himself in a very good mood and left the base.

He strolled here and there until he eventually reached a crowded street.

That was when a young woman who looked to be in her early twenties, wearing a metal bracelet around her arm, caught Jovian’s attention.

"This one is..."

Jovian stared at the girl, and suddenly it all clicked. He had finally remembered which part of the story they were in.

"So that’s it. Alien Muzan’s invasion, huh?"

Muttering to himself, Jovian strode toward the girl, who at a glance was obviously not from Earth.

She looked panicked, like she was trying to hide from something in the crowd...

The girl said nothing, but her heart pounded violently in her chest. She could feel the faint killing intent hiding among the people around her. That terrifying hunter was somewhere nearby.

Then, just as her fear peaked, a man with slicked-back hair, a blank expression, and a ruthless glint in his eyes suddenly appeared on the street. He stared at the girl viciously.

Oh no.

The girl was startled and broke into a desperate run. She knew that if she stopped, even for a second, that monster would kill her.

The slick-haired man watched her run and, not caring at all that he was standing in a crowded public area, raised both hands toward her as energy began gathering between his palms.

This is bad.

The girl could feel the energy building behind her, and her face changed instantly. She knew that the moment it fired, she would be obliterated without even a trace left behind.

At that critical instant, a tall figure suddenly stepped into her path.

"Are you all right?"

The tall man asked her in a strangely gentle voice.

The girl’s eyes trembled the moment she heard him. She had not expected to hear her people’s own language here.

"Run! It’s Alien Muzan! He’s hunting us. Hurry and get away! I can’t drag one of my own people down with me!"

The girl shoved at the tall man standing in front of her. She thought he was one of her own kind too, another exile who had somehow ended up on this unfamiliar planet.

She could not bear the thought of someone from her own people dying because of her, so she desperately tried to make him leave.

"That won’t do..."

The tall man only shook his head lightly, then stepped forward and placed himself squarely between the girl and the torrent of incoming energy.

"No!"

The girl screamed. Her race was not good at fighting. They were weak, completely defenseless against Alien Muzan.

But then something happened that left her stunned. The violent energy Alien Muzan had released fell apart the instant it reached the tall man, breaking into scattered aftershocks before vanishing into space.

"What is this..."

The girl stared in disbelief at what she had just seen.

"I don’t think you’re showing me proper respect."

The man ignored the girl behind him and coldly fixed his gaze on Alien Muzan across from him.

"Now that you’ve seen me, you still won’t drop to your knees, bang your head on the ground a few times, and say, ’Your Majesty, I pay my respects’?"

"Damn it."

The man looked deeply dissatisfied. He raised his right hand, and in an instant a terrifying force seized Alien Muzan’s throat from a distance.

Alien Muzan felt the overwhelming pressure clamp down on his neck, and his expression changed at once. His body shook uncontrollably, and he dropped to one knee, clearly in agony.

"Don’t be afraid, little lady. I happened to be feeling charitable today, so I figured I’d help you out."

With one hand still controlling Alien Muzan and enough spare telekinetic force left over to drive away the nearby pedestrians, the man turned and casually greeted the girl behind him.

"I... I have another companion..."

The girl looked at the man radiating overwhelming pressure and absolute strength, Jovian, and spoke up.

"No rush. My people are already handling that." freeweɓnovel.cøm

Jovian shook his head, sounding completely certain. The moment he saw the girl, he had already made all the necessary arrangements.

And just as those words left his mouth, a red giant dropped from the sky with a roar that split the air.

"Boss! I found the one you wanted me to find!"

The giant swaggered right up to Jovian, bent down, and held out his hand.

"See? I told you, you didn’t need to worry about your companion at all."

Jovian was very pleased with his subordinate’s efficiency, and he gave the red giant an approving nod.

"Here..." The red giant immediately opened his palm, revealing a puddle of blue mush. "Uh oh. I used too much force."

Jovian stared at the puddle for a moment, thought about it, then turned toward the girl behind him, who had already started crying, and gave her a small smile.

"All right, somebody come claim this."
