"Yes, maybe. Let’s go. Let’s go early today," Anita said with a nod.
Seeing that Anita clearly didn’t want to say anything, Ethan didn’t press her. The two of them walked quietly to the meeting room.
Anita’s mind was elsewhere as she listened to the speech on the stage. She looked at her phone a few times. freēwebnovel.com
As early as last night, when she couldn’t sleep, she had seen the few video calls from Owen, but she hadn’t replied to any of them, because she didn’t know what to say.
"Anita, what are you thinking? The professor is giving his closing speech on the stage," Ethan said while gently touching Anita’s arm.
Hearing Ethan’s words, Anita quickly came back to her senses and looked up at the podium.
"Thank you, experts, for coming to this exchange. I hope we can work together to do this project well in the future." The old professor presiding over this meeting looked at the people below the stage and bowed before walking down the stage.
As the old professor left the stage, warm applause began to sound in the meeting room. Anita clapped with everyone absentmindedly.
Actually, she had prepared many questions to ask at the end, but she was not in the mood at all. After the exchange ended, everyone started to pack their things and prepare to leave.
Anita didn’t delay. After packing her things, she turned and prepared to walk out of the meeting room.
"Miss Anita, please wait a moment," someone called out politely from behind. Anita heard someone call her and turned to look back.
"Miss Anita, nice to meet you. I’m one of the members of Columbia University’s exchange program. My name is Jeffrey," the boy said as he reached out his hand to Anita.
Anita was stunned to see the handsome boy smiling at her. Then, she reached out her hand. "Hello, I’m Anita."
"I know you’re Anita. I’ve been watching you for the past two days. I think you’re very outstanding, and many of your views are what I’m considering," Jeffery said seriously while looking at Anita.
Anita listened to Jeffrey’s words and smiled. "Jeffrey, thank you for your praise. It’s just that I have limited experience and the views I put forward have not been proven, so they might not be good."
"Yes, I know what you mean." Jeffery nodded as well. He looked at Anita and said, "By the way, the reason I suddenly came to you is because I thought that after our exchange, it might be a long time before we see each other again. That’s why I took the liberty to come forward. I hope we can exchange contact details."
"Sure, no problem." Anita took out her phone to exchange contact details with the smiling boy in front of her.
"Okay, that’s enough. I’ll get going first. I have to go back to my room and pack." Anita was about to leave after adding his contact number and putting away her phone.
"Anita, I think you’re really beautiful. I hope we meet again soon," Jeffrey said with a smile as he looked at Anita again.
Anita didn’t say anything else as she listened to Jeffrey. She nodded and walked out.
Actually, she had already collected most of her things yesterday. She, who had been eager to return, calmed down when she saw the suitcase at the door. She wasn’t in such a hurry anymore.
She had just received another message from Owen asking what time her flight would arrive. Anita didn’t know how to reply to Owen.
She could feel that Owen was probably eagerly looking forward to her return, but why would he meet Miranda? Anita gripped the phone in her hand as she thought about it.
There were a few knocks on the door. It should be Ethan. Then, she turned around and stood up to open the door.
"Anita, are you done packing?" Ethan asked Anita from the door.
"Yes, it’s all packed." Anita nodded and opened the door so Ethan could walk in.
"Are these two suitcases yours? Are there any other things?" Ethan asked as he walked into Anita’s room and looked around.
"No, that’s all. Let’s go," Anita said as she stepped forward and picked up her bag.
"Let’s go," Ethan said and pushed Anita’s two boxes out.
When they reached the hotel reception and checked out, the taxi Ethan had booked in advance was already waiting at the door. They packed their suitcases and got into the taxi before driving to the airport.
When they reached the airport, they checked in and got their boarding passes. Anita and Ethan sat in the waiting room and started waiting to board.
"Anita, what’s wrong? You look uneasy." Ethan had felt that something was wrong with Anita since morning, but she didn’t say anything after he asked.
