Chapter 143: Returning to the Country
Editor: Henyee Translations
"Nothing. I just feel like we’re returning to the country so soon," Anita said to Ethan while holding the boarding pass in her hand.
"You think it’s soon? How come I didn’t realize it? I could feel that you couldn’t wait to return to the country these few days." Ethan smiled at Anita.
"Will Owen pick you up at the airport? Does he know when we’ll be back?" Ethan asked again when Anita said nothing.
Anita shook her head at Ethan’s words. "No, I didn’t tell him. He doesn’t know."
"Why didn’t you tell him? Did you guys quarrel?" Ethan asked while listening to Anita and looking at her expression.
"No, he’s too busy, so I didn’t say anything," Anita said with a smile, not wanting Ethan to worry.
Ethan knew from Anita’s words that she was not telling the truth, but it was inappropriate for him to ask too much about the couple’s private affairs, so he nodded and said nothing.
Owen woke up from a good night’s sleep, washed up briefly, and went to the cloakroom to choose what to wear today.
It was supposed to be a normal day, but because Anita was coming back today, Owen felt that today was an especially good day.
Owen, humming as he stood in the cloakroom, thought about how they hadn’t seen each other in a week. They were suddenly going to meet today, so he was actually nervous.
He changed his clothes again and again, but Owen still didn’t think the outfit was suitable. He felt that it was too formal to wear a suit, and he felt that if he wore casual clothes, he would look too frivolous.
He stood in the cloakroom for a long time but still hadn’t finished choosing his outfit. However, he received a call from Bruce. "President, are you still coming to work today?" Bruce asked carefully on the other end of the phone.
Normally, his CEO would have arrived at the office by this time, but it was almost ten o’clock today and he still hadn’t arrived, so he summoned the courage to call Owen.
"Yes. I didn’t say I was going to rest today," Owen said and hung up.
Then, he looked up at the clock on the wall. It was indeed getting late. It was almost ten. He looked at the wardrobe again and stopped hesitating.
He took out a suit jacket and put it on. Instead of a shirt and tie, he wore a white T-shirt, tailored pants, and a pair of white sneakers.
Standing in front of the mirror, Owen thought he looked good, so he picked up the glasses from the sink again and put them on. He tousled his hair and hurried out with his car keys.
"President... President, what outfit style is this?" Bruce looked at Owen, who had appeared in the company, and said in surprise.
"What’s wrong? Doesn’t my outfit look good?" Owen said while standing still and looking at Bruce.
"How could that be? CEO, you look handsome no matter what you wear." Bruce quickly said with a smile.
Owen didn’t respond to Bruce’s words. He nodded and prepared to walk to the office.
"President, do you have a date today? Is Miss Anita coming back?" Bruce chased after Owen again and whispered to him. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"Yes, remember to order a bouquet for me today." Owen, who was about to walk to the office, stopped when he heard Bruce and turned to him.
"Oh my God, I was really right. Miss Anita is finally coming back," Bruce said happily as he listened to Owen.
"President, don’t worry. Leave the matter of ordering flowers to me. I promise I’ll do it for you," Bruce said quickly before Owen could say anything.
"Well, get it done," Owen said and pushed open the office door.
He hadn’t bothered to look at his phone since the morning. As he sat in his office and turned on his computer, then glanced at his phone. He thought Anita would send him a message or return a video call, but there was nothing.
He thought about how Anita was going to be back today. Was she still so busy? Without thinking, he took his phone and sent a message to Anita. "Anita, are you busy today? Why didn’t you reply to my message? What time is your flight today? I’ll pick you up at the airport."
After sending the message, Owen put his phone aside and started his day. He had plans for the night, so he had to finish what he had to do as soon as possible today so he could go to the airport early and wait for Anita.
He thought that Anita would reply quickly when she saw the message, but he didn’t expect that even after four in the afternoon, there was still no unread message on his phone.
Owen froze, then found Anita’s number and dialed it.
But the phone only rang once before a voice said, "Hello, the number you’ve dialed can’t be reached for the time being." Owen had no choice but to hang up.
