Chapter 124: A Happy Day

Editor: Henyee Translations

Anita was busy the whole day. She first placed the things she had bought today on the table and then went to the washroom to wash up. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

When everything was packed, she took out her phone and prepared to call Owen via video.

Before Anita could wait long, Owen’s call went through. "Are you done? How was the exchange today?" Owen asked with a smile while looking at Anita in the video.

"It was quite good. You know, there really are a lot of professionals who came to this meeting. I think I’m really too incompetent compared to them." Anita leaned closer to the screen in a low voice and couldn’t help but confide in Owen.

"No way. They’re more experienced than you, after all. You definitely won’t be inferior to them in a few years." Owen looked at Anita and smiled reassuringly.

"Okay. Oh, yes, let me show you. I bought a lot of food today. They’re all delicious. It’s a pity you’re not here." Anita’s sadness lasted only a few minutes, then she quickly got out of bed to show Owen what she had gotten today.

Owen smiled as he watched Anita happily introduce the delicious food they had bought today to him on the other end of the video call. Then he said, "You bought so much. If you can’t finish it, won’t it be wasteful?"

This made Anita blush. "I didn’t mean to waste food... I just... I just couldn’t control myself, because they all looked so delicious. I’m afraid I’ll regret it if I didn’t buy them."

"Seriously. How about next time, I will come with you to help you finish the food?" Owen saw Anita’s distress and smiled.

Anita quickly smiled and nodded.

The two of them talked for a while longer. Owen clearly looked sleepy. There was a time difference of more than five hours.

Anita couldn’t bear to see Owen continuing to chat with her despite being sleepy, so she quickly said, "Owen, go to sleep. I have to sleep too. There’s an exchange tomorrow."

"Okay, Anita. Good night." Owen brought the phone closer and smiled at Anita on the video call.

The two of them bade each other goodbye and hung up.

Anita lay on the bed a few more times and rolled around while thinking happily that she had really gained a lot today. She bumped into Ethan and called Owen.

As she thought about it happily, she fell asleep.

The next day, the meeting continued for the day.

When the meeting ended, Anita still looked for Ethan as usual, but she couldn’t find him.

In the end, when everyone left the meeting room, Ethan was still not there.

Afraid that something had happened to him, she took out her phone and called Ethan. "Ethan, where are you? Why can’t I find you?" As soon as the call was connected, Anita asked anxiously.

"I have something on at my company. I came out before the meeting," Ethan said.

"Okay, when are you coming back? I’ll wait for you to eat together," Anita said again when she heard that Ethan was fine.

"Anita, don’t wait for me. I don’t know when I’ll finish today," Ethan replied quickly when he heard Anita’s words.

Anita was a little disappointed, but they were all adults. She couldn’t always ask Ethan to accompany her. After all, he had work to do.

So she said softly, "Okay, go ahead." Then she hung up.

Ethan lay in bed and listened to the beeping sound of the call being hung up.

He sighed helplessly. Actually, he wasn’t busy with work or anything urgent. How could the company find him to attend to company affairs when he was overseas? This was just an excuse.

He didn’t know how to face Anita, so before the meeting was over, he found an excuse and returned to his room early.

Anita didn’t know that Ethan was avoiding her and thought that he was really busy. She wasn’t familiar with England and she didn’t want to go out alone, so she went back to her room.

The hotel provided a reservation service. When she returned to her room, she called the reception and ordered black pepper pasta. She ate it silently in her room.

After eating, she took out the glasses from her bag and put them on. Then, she started to prepare the information she would need tomorrow. After all, this was a business trip to England. She couldn’t slack off at all.

Owen didn’t video call Anita tonight, and Anita was busy until seven. She took her phone and glanced at the time. Thinking Owen probably wasn’t asleep yet, she called him.

But she didn’t expect that no one picked up even after she called twice. She didn’t think much of it and thought Owen must still be working overtime or was asleep, so he didn’t pick up.

She thought about it for a moment. Afraid of disturbing Owen, she didn’t insist on calling. She placed her phone by the bed and charged it. After washing up, she laid on the bed and prepared to rest early.
