"Owen, don’t be angry. I was just worried you were working overtime. I’ll be back in a couple of days. We’ll talk when I get back, okay?" Anita said quickly while listening to Owen, who was agitated.
"No, you can’t go. Change your ticket and wait for me to go over now." The more Owen thought about it in the office, the more worried he became. He couldn’t let Anita go like this. He was afraid that if he did, their relationship would sour. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
At the thought of this, he hurriedly picked up his clothes from the chair and walked out.
Anita looked at the time on her watch. There was no reply. The speaker in the waiting room was announcing the boarding time. It was time to board the plane.
"Owen, don’t be like this. Calm down," Anita said after a moment.
Owen didn’t reply. He hung up and hurried out.
"President, where are you going? There’s a meeting scheduled." Bruce saw Owen rush out and hurriedly chased after him.
"What meeting? I don’t have time. Delay it. I have to go out and do something," Owen said as he walked forward without looking back.
"President, you can’t. This meeting was arranged two days ago with our partners overseas. They arrived yesterday and are waiting to meet today to talk about the contract." Bruce was afraid that Owen would leave, so he quickly reached out and pulled him back.
Owen glanced at the hand holding his and frowned. "Can’t the meeting be changed to tomorrow. I really have something on today."
Bruce said anxiously, "it can’t be changed. We competed for a long time to win this project. Everyone worked overtime for a few days just for today."
"President, if we breach our contract today, a lot of companies outside are waiting to work with them." Bruce said in one breath and looked at Owen.
At this point, Owen basically understood. This project was really important to the company. They had worked so long for this project to succeed.
He could say that he didn’t want the project, but there were so many people in the company waiting for the prize money. He couldn’t leave so willfully.
He finally lowered his hand that was about to press the elevator button.
"President, let’s go. The meeting is about to begin." Bruce saw that Owen finally lowered his hand and looked at his expression before saying softly.
Owen said nothing and stood in front of the elevator for a while longer. Finally, he turned and walked toward the conference room. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Anita sat in the waiting room until the radio had called her name for the third time. She glanced at the time again.
Then, she picked up her bag and walked towards the boarding gate.
"Hello, are you Miss Anita?" the staff standing at the boarding gate asked Anita politely.
"I am," Anita said as she handed the boarding pass to the staff.
"Okay, please board the plane quickly. The plane is about to take off." The staff member checked the boarding pass and said to Anita. Anita took it and looked at the airport lobby one last time. She still didn’t see the familiar figure. She finally turned around and boarded the plane.
Anita, who was sitting on the plane, looked at the plane that had already risen into the sky and was shrouded in a sea of clouds. This wasn’t the first time she had sat on a plane alone, but she felt extremely lonely.
In the past, whenever she went out, she had always been in a cheerful mood, but this time, she felt different. She glanced at the phone in her hand again and wanted to send Owen a message, but the plane was already high in the sky. There was no signal.
She sighed helplessly and put her phone in her bag.
The plane was headed straight for London, England. The flight was about eight to nine hours.
Anita put on a blindfold to sleep before landing. There was a time difference between the United States and the United Kingdom, so it was already afternoon in the United Kingdom when she came out of the airport.
After taking her luggage, she stood at the airport entrance and took a taxi before heading to the hotel.
While sitting in the taxi, she pulled out her phone first to look at it. There was no message or call. After that call last night, Owen never contacted her again.
She shook her phone and thought about it. Finally, she sent Owen a message. "I’m already here."
After sending the message, she put her phone in her bag.
The hotel was a cooperation hotel with the Columbia University exchange program. Everyone who participated in the meeting stayed in this hotel. Therefore, when she went to the reception desk and said her name, the receptionists knew.
"Hello, Miss Anita. Welcome to England. This is your room card." the receptionist said with a smile as she handed the room card to Anita.
"Thank you." Anita smiled and took the room card from the receptionist before pushing her suitcase upstairs.
