Chapter 118: Unfamiliar City

The room was on the 21st floor. Because she was the only female in this meeting, she could enjoy this large bedroom alone. This was the first time Anita had come to England. After entering the room and putting her luggage away, she pulled open the curtains and took a look at the scenery outside. The buildings were clearly different from those of America. Almost all the buildings here were in British style, and they were solemn, elegant, and gorgeous.
After looking at the buildings, she looked down at the people walking in a hurry on the street and started to feel a little excited.
She couldn’t help but think that it would be great if Owen were by her side. That way, the two of them could go out and shop together and appreciate England’s scenery. Unfortunately, she was alone now.
After pulling the curtains, she went to the bathroom to wash up and prepare to catch up on her sleep.
She laid on the bed and turned around. Seeing the empty space beside her, Anita couldn’t help but feel sad.
She had thought about parting ways with Owen for a few days so that maybe both of them could calm down, but she felt like she had overestimated herself.
When the two of them were in the same city, she thought that it would be okay if they separated for a while. But now, the two of them were in different countries, and it would take eight to nine hours for them to meet.
She started to wonder if she had made a rash decision, but it was too late to regret it. In the end, she couldn’t help but take the phone that was charging at the head of the bed.
Unwilling to give up, she opened it and looked at it. The message page was still empty. There was no unread message or missed call. She looked at it for a moment and finally pressed her hand on the dial button to call him.
The phone rang a few times, but no one picked up.
In the end, Anita hung up. She couldn’t help but think that maybe Owen was still busy and working overtime, which was why he hadn’t picked up her call. She also thought that since she must be too tired now, she should sleep quickly and not let her imagination run wild again, so she quickly forced herself to lie on the bed and covered herself with the blanket. freewёbnoνel.com
Owen had worked overtime yesterday until midnight and didn’t go home. He slept on the couch in the office.
When he woke up, he was awakened by his phone ringtone. He sat up from the sofa in a daze and searched for his phone. Before he could see the incoming message, the call was hung up.
Seeing that the call had ended, he put the phone down again to sober up. Then, he stood up from the sofa and walked towards the bathroom in the office suite.
Because he used to work overtime frequently, Bruce had prepared everything for him in the bathroom. There was a razor, lotion, toothbrush, and toothpaste.
Owen looked at himself in the mirror in front of the bathroom first. His hair was disheveled, and the suit he was wearing was wrinkled now after he slept on the sofa for the night. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Even his beard had grown. He felt that he looked really disheveled now. He also thought that it was fortunate that Anita wasn’t around and couldn’t see him like this.
He smiled helplessly and picked up the razor beside him. He first shaved, then brushed his teeth and washed his face before putting on some toner.
After tidying up, she went to the small changing room next door to change into a suit. After her clothes were clean and tidy, she walked to the mirror to look at herself.
Looking at himself, who had finally returned to his usual handsome look, he said to himself, "As expected, clothes matter. It doesn’t matter if you look handsome or not. There’s no way to look handsome without tidying up." With that, he walked out of the bathroom and towards the sofa.
Yesterday, he had wanted Anita to wait for him to send her off, but he hadn’t been able to go because of the meeting.
He had been working overtime and had been so busy that he hadn’t even had a chance to call Anita. As Owen thought about it, he picked up the phone he had thrown by the sofa and was about to call Anita back.
It was only when he held the phone in his hand that he realized that Anita had sent him a message and called him. She had sent more than one message.
Seeing this, Owen’s expression finally eased.
Last night, during the last call with Anita, he knew that his attitude had been bad and he was in a bad mood.
After he calmed down and thought about it, he felt that Anita’s words were reasonable. After all, no one could accept that someone was hiding from her for no reason. Even he wouldn’t be able to accept it.
But unexpectedly, before he could explain it to Anita, she had gone overseas.
Thinking of this, he called Anita. But just as the phone rang, he quickly hung up, because he suddenly remembered that the United States and England had a time difference.
Anita might be catching up on sleep at this time. She had been on the plane all night and he wasn’t with her. He didn’t want to disturb her at this time.
So he decisively hung up again and sat on the sofa to think about what message to send. He typed it and then deleted it over and over again. In the end, he sent Anita a message. "I had a meeting yesterday and worked overtime. I was busy. I didn’t mean to not pick up your call."
