Chapter 112: The Contradictory Jack

Editor: Henyee Translations

"Jack, did you drink yesterday? I see that you don’t look too good." Anita ignored Jack’s attitude. She really treated Jack as a friend. After all, he was the first person to stand up for her when she was being attacked.

She was unwilling to lose a friend like him, so even though Jack’s attitude was bad, she still pretended not to care. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Jack finally wavered when he heard Anita’s words and couldn’t help but nod.

"Here, I brought yogurt. Why don’t you have one? It can ease your hangover. This is how I used to get over it." Anita saw that Jack’s attitude wasn’t so bad anymore, so she quickly took out a pack of yogurt from her bag and handed it to Jack.

Jack looked at the yogurt in front of him and then looked up at Anita, who was still smiling at him. He finally wavered.

"Anita, don’t be so good to me anymore. I really don’t know how to accept it. You know what? You’re going to make me overthink things," Jack said while looking directly at Anita.

Anita was stunned by Jack’s words. "What are you thinking about? Aren’t we partners? Don’t you always help me? It’s only right that I express concern about you," Anita said without thinking.

Jack touched his forehead. It was only now that he really understood that Anita had no other feelings for him. She treated him as a partner.

Thinking of this, Jack suddenly smiled and said, "Yes, we’re good partners. Hurry up and complete your experiment. Don’t burden me."

Seeing that Jack finally smiled, Anita also said with a smile, "Don’t worry, I’m so outstanding. I definitely won’t burden you."

Jack said nothing more and smiled and nodded again.

Over here, Owen was secretly investigating Eric. He was afraid that Anita would realize what he had done, and he was afraid that he couldn’t hide his emotions.

So he worked overtime for a few days and went home very late every day.

"Owen, are you going to work overtime today?" Anita went home after she was done with the experiment and saw that there was still no one at home. It was empty, so she couldn’t help but call Owen.

She didn’t know what had gotten into Owen lately. He seemed to be avoiding her, but she didn’t know what had happened. And lately, Owen had even skipped sending her to work.

She remembered waking up early one morning and asking Owen when she woke up, "Why don’t you send me to work anymore?" Owen had given her the excuse that he had to work overtime.

He had to work overtime was the excuse when he returned late at night and when he had to leave early in the morning.

This excuse made Anita speechless. She knew Owen was under pressure and couldn’t be willful.

But now, it was too obvious that he was avoiding her. Anita couldn’t help it.

Owen knew that he had been a little too obvious these past few days, but the results of Bruce’s investigation hadn’t come out yet. He didn’t know how to handle the situation, and he had to keep stalling and hiding from Anita.

When Anita called today, he had actually been prepared. He could also clearly feel that Anita’s patience was running out.

When Owen heard Anita’s question, he thought about it for a moment before saying, "I’m sorry, Anita, I have to work overtime today. Go to bed early."

"Owen, I don’t understand. What do you mean? If you have to work overtime, I’ll look for you at the office," Anita said into the phone, and her voice wasn’t very gentle.

"Anita, be good. I really have something to do," Owen, afraid that Anita would come to the office to find him, said quickly.

"Owen, are you really busy? Or are you avoiding me?" Anita said again.

"Anita, what are you talking about? I’m really busy. Can’t you see? Can you understand me a little?" Owen also sounded upset.

Anita froze at Owen’s words and didn’t continue.

She tried hard to calm down. She knew that if she continued, they definitely wouldn’t be able to avoid an argument. But what was the point of this argument?

It still wouldn’t solve the problem the two of them were facing. And she didn’t know why Owen was avoiding her.

"Okay, go ahead. I’m hanging up," Anita finally said.

With that, she hung up without waiting for Owen to respond.

Owen could tell that Anita was in a very bad mood. He almost couldn’t help but say it just now.

But he didn’t expect to hear a beep from the receiver. He looked at his phone and realized that the call had been hung up, so he could only sigh helplessly.

He could actually guess Anita’s thoughts.
