Chapter 111: Owen’s Thoughts
Editor: Henyee Translations
After the messages were deleted, Owen carefully placed Anita’s phone back in its original place. Then he lay down and hugged her gently.
"What’s wrong? Is it time to get up? I’m so sleepy." Anita felt the warmth of Owen’s arms and quietly moved closer to him.
Owen’s heart fluttered at Anita’s words, then he hugged her a little tighter.
"What’s wrong? I feel like I can’t breathe when you suddenly hug me so tightly," Anita said coquettishly when she saw that Owen didn’t say anything.
Owen thought he really hugged her too tight. He quickly relaxed his arm and said awkwardly, "I’m sorry. I didn’t pinch you, did I?"
"Look at how nervous you are. I’m fine. I was just teasing you," Anita said with a smile while looking at Owen.
Owen had been nervous, but after hearing Anita’s words, he relaxed a little.
He reached out and touched Anita’s nose before smiling. "You’re really something. We have to get up. If we don’t get up soon, we’ll be late."
After saying this, the two of them cuddled for a while more before finally getting up from the bed to wash up.
They were in a hurry, so breakfast was very simple. The two of them each had fresh toast and a glass of milk. After eating, they hurried out.
Owen had to send Anita to work first, so they had to leave half an hour early every day.
As she sat in the car, Anita started to read through her messages. She hadn’t read her email in two days and was afraid she would miss some important news. But after searching for a long time, she didn’t see anything. There was only one junk email.
Owen watched Anita flip through her phone as he drove. From time to time, he felt nervous and afraid that Anita would notice something was wrong, but in the end, things were okay.
Anita flipped through, but there was no news. After she put the phone down, Owen relaxed.
He had no intention of mentioning Eric, and he didn’t want Anita to think about Eric again.
"Okay, I’m getting out of the car. See you tonight," Anita said with a smile when she pushed open the car door.
"Okay, see you tonight," Owen replied with a smile.
The two of them waved through the car window. After saying goodbye to each other, Anita walked towards the school while Owen started the car and drove towards the company.
When they reached the office, Owen called Bruce to his office first.
After Bruce had his fill of PDA yesterday, he thought that he would be able to have a good day after seeing the CEO today. After all, people in love were in a good mood. He thought so, but he didn’t expect to see the CEO’s unhappy expression early in the morning. ƒrēewebnovel.com
He walked into the office in panic.
"President, good morning. What did you call me for?" Bruce said to Owen.
"Bruce, didn’t I ask you to check on Anita’s ex-boyfriend for me before?" Owen said to Bruce.
Bruce didn’t expect Owen to suddenly mention this person, so he said dubiously, "Who... Miss Anita’s ex-boyfriend? Eric?"
"Yes, it’s him. Find someone to check on him again and see what he’s doing now. I want as much detail as possible," Owen instructed Bruce.
Bruce nodded in confusion. He then asked, "President, what’s wrong with this person? Why are we suddenly checking on him?"
"If I want you to investigate him, go ahead and do it. Don’t ask so many questions," Owen said coldly while looking at Bruce.
"Yes, CEO. I’ll get someone to investigate immediately." Bruce didn’t ask anymore after hearing Owen’s words and hurriedly nodded.
After giving the instructions, Owen indicated that he could go out. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Anita didn’t know when Jack had left yesterday, so when she arrived at the laboratory and saw Jack today, she spoke first. "Jack, I’m really sorry about yesterday. I really had plans."
Jack looked terrible, and he was in a bad mood. He didn’t look up when he heard Anita’s words. He just said in a low voice, "Anita, don’t keep apologizing. I already told you yesterday. It’s just a meal. We can go out and eat anytime."
Even though he said that, Jack felt terrible. Yesterday, he had been excited and wanted to take Anita out for dinner, but she had rejected him.
That was why he had spoken to Anita with such a bad attitude later. Actually, after saying those words yesterday, he regretted it. He had wanted to apologize to Anita, but he really didn’t have the courage.
Jack felt conflicted, so he ran out to drink again yesterday. He didn’t know how to ease the sense of contradiction in his heart other than by drinking.
He had thought that since his attitude was so bad, Anita might not talk to him again. But today, Anita was still apologizing to him warmly, as if it were really her fault.
