Owen ate quickly and couldn’t care less about replying to Anita. He just reached out and gave her a thumbs up to show that it was delicious.
By the time Owen had finished the meal, before Anita could stand up and pack, he had unpacked the meal box and cutlery himself and put them in the thermal bag.
"Anita, wait for me. I have something else to deal with," Owen said to Anita.
"It’s okay, go ahead. I have some information I haven’t finished reading," Anita said as she sat on the sofa again and took out the information she had brought from her bag.
Owen saw that Anita had something to do and didn’t disturb her anymore. The two of them got busy.
By the time Owen finished work, it was almost eleven. He packed his things briefly and stood up to call Anita.
But when he reached the sofa, he found that Anita had fallen asleep without him knowing. The information was scattered on the floor.
Owen lowered his head and leaned closer to Anita to look at her while she slept. He didn’t have the heart to wake her up.
But the office was not a good place to sleep in after all. He looked around and finally called out to Anita, "Anita, it’s time to get off work. Let’s go."
Anita didn’t sleep very soundly. She was too sleepy and slept for a while, but she couldn’t move her hands and legs while leaning on the sofa. When Owen called out, she immediately woke up.
"Are you done?" Anita asked softly while looking up at Owen.
"Yes, let’s go," Owen said as he grabbed the thermal bag Anita had brought over and put Anita’s clothes on.
Anita changed her clothes again and waited until she was more sober. She stood up from the sofa and walked out with Owen.
It was only when they left the office that they realized that most of them had left. Bruce had gotten off work already.
After Owen made sure everyone was gone, he turned off the light in the lobby, then took the elevator with Anita to the underground parking lot.
It was too late and the two of them were very tired. They couldn’t care less about anything else and drove home quietly.
The two of them went home. After washing up, they quickly went to bed to rest.
The next morning, Owen was awakened by the alarm on his phone. Anita hadn’t gotten up yet. She had been very tired yesterday, and since she had cooked for Owen and came back so late, as soon as the alarm rang, Owen, afraid of waking Anita, got up immediately and turned the alarm off.
After he turned off the alarm, he was about to lie down when he remembered that Anita’s phone also seemed to have an alarm. So he took Anita’s phone over and prepared to turn off the alarm.
This was the first time he had come into contact with Anita’s phone. Their phones were of different models. He didn’t know where Anita’s alarm was. After searching for a long time, he couldn’t find the alarm, but he found Anita’s email. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
There were two or three unread emails inside. Owen didn’t have a habit of snooping on other people’s privacy, but he just happened to see the word Eric. He was afraid that this man was looking for Anita for something again, so he hesitated before clicking it open.
"Anita, I’m sorry. I was wrong. Ever since we broke up, I’ve missed you every day and I’ve regretted what I did. Anita, can you give me another chance?"
Before he finished reading this message, there was another message from Eric in her email. Owen’s hand trembled as he opened it again. "Anita, I’m sorry. Was I bothering you again? I really couldn’t control myself. I feel like I’m really stupid. Why did I have to wait until I lost you to realize how good you were? Do you know? I have so much to tell you. Can you give me a chance? Even if it’s just a meeting."
After he read this information, Owen’s expression changed.
He tried hard to control his emotions. He looked at the time the message had been sent. It was almost three days ago. That was after they returned from the resort. Eric had been sending Anita messages.
He didn’t dare to imagine Anita’s reaction when she saw this news. After all, when he was doing the investigation, he could feel that Anita really had feelings for Eric. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been together for four years.
Moreover, Anita had sacrificed so much. Even now, when she mentioned their past, Anita would still cry from sadness.
Owen grabbed Anita’s phone and thought about it. In the end, he decided to delete these two messages. He was afraid. After all, it had been hard for him and Anita to get to where they were now.
He didn’t want Anita to have anything to do with Eric again. And he really didn’t think Eric was a good person. He wasn’t a person to be entrusted to.
And while Anita did have feelings for him now, if Eric came back and kept begging Anita, he couldn’t guarantee that she would not change her mind. He did not want to take the risk.
