Chapter 141: Not your place (3)
On the Collins estate, Scarlet sat in a tub of water staring at the closed bathroom door. She was suspicious of how quiet it was on the other side of the door with Ian waiting for her to get dressed and come out.
The shirt and pants she planned to change into were already in the bathroom so she wouldn’t need to walk by him without any clothes.
Ian was more obedient than she was expecting when he came inside her bedroom. They kissed again, but he didn’t go any further and told her to get dressed for dinner.
"Is he snooping around?" Scarlet wondered. It could be why he was so quiet.
There wasn’t anything concerning her business for her to be afraid that he would find so she wasn’t concerned. She trusted that Ian wasn’t some kind of pervert to be looking through her clothes.
Was he just sitting patiently for her return?
Though the door was closed, Scarlet hadn’t locked it. It was another sign of how much she trusted being alone with him. Had she wanted Ian to barge in and come here right now, she would have welcomed him just as she welcomed him inside the bedroom.
"I should have brought Sunny in."
Scarlet wanted to hear how it would be for the two to be left alone together. Would she get to hear Ian trying to convince Sunny to like him or would she hear Ian calling for her to save him?
Scarlet laughed as she imagined both options. Perhaps another night she would have the two sit together.
Scarlet sat up, deciding to get out since she had spent enough time here. She could leave her guest sitting around.
Scarlet carefully got out of the water and got dressed to return to where Ian waited for her. When she opened the door, she found Ian sitting on the edge of her bed, looking out the window.
Scarlet looked at the window, wanting to see what had his attention. The only interesting things about her window were the birds she believed came to tease Sunny and when she got to wake up to snow. "Should I have left you with one of Sunny’s toys to keep you busy?"
Ian looked away from the window to Scarlet. "Do you see me as a man or a pet?"
"Is there much of a difference?" Scarlet asked, jokingly.
"I would like to see the cat do for you what I can. Is your hair wet?" Ian asked as she had a towel pressed to the ends of her hair.
"Only a little. It fell out of the ponytail and the ends got wet. It will soon dry. Normally Florence is here to aid me with this. You must have her upset that she cannot come here," said Scarlet.
Ian stood up to offer his help to dry her hair. "No one saw me come inside."
Scarlet smiled as he was underestimating Florence’s quick thinking. "You are not in the room I allowed you to use and she must have seen when you followed me. Florence is quick to know not to disturb us. You’ve disrupted her time by tending to me."
"It is not that wet," Scarlet said, trying to stop him from taking the towel. "I didn’t say that for you to dry my hair. I know how to dry my hair."
Ian succeeded in stealing the towel from her hands. "I am doing this because I want to. Your employees wouldn’t like it if you were sick. You can’t miss work."
"Being sick would not stop me from working," Scarlet replied.
"You’ll burden yourself with work even when you are sick? Do you know nothing about breaks?" Ian questioned, now wanting to make her lie on the bed and go to sleep.
"I will take breaks when I go out of town with my family. It is not like the work is so hard that I must constantly take a break. You are all dramatic," Scarlet said as they all responded the same way. "Are you not always at your business?"
"I go there to sleep. The couch is quite comfy. You should know," Ian teased.
Scarlet stepped away from him so he could stop drying her hair. "I can still kick you out of my estate. You are lucky to be saved by the phone."
Scarlet went to the phone in the room and answered. "Father? Is something wrong?"
Ian used her being occupied with the phone to go to her side to finish drying her hair. ’Does he know I’m here?’ Ian thought.
Ian knew that Leonard was keeping an eye on him and poking around his past. He expected that much from him. It wouldn’t come as a surprise if Leonard were to be planning to come here for dinner so he could keep an eye on him.
While Leonard might scare others, Ian liked having him around. It was funny to see Leonard wanting to kill him, Samara trying to stop her husband and Scarlet wanting to be anywhere but there. freewebnøvel.coɱ

"I am sorry. My problems are reaching your doors. I will speak to him as soon as I can and fix this. I shall see you soon. Goodbye," Scarlet said, putting the phone down. "That fool."
Scarlet knew what Nolan said about getting involved in her personal life now that he was not her lawyer would be a headache but she hadn’t placed it as one for her parents. What gave him the right to go to her father to speak about Ian?
How could Nolan fall to this low?
"Someone troubling you?" Ian questioned. He needed the name of the person who ruined the good mood they were in. He was finally getting to enjoy more of Scarlet’s playful side.
"It is Nolan troubling my father about you. Why must men be this way? Must your jealousy always make you do stupid things?" Scarlet asked, needing an honest answer from a man.
Jack had been bothering her since he saw her with Ian. Now Nolan was doing strange things. Did she have to watch out for Ian becoming like this?
"Only little boys are this way. Speaking of fools, how much did you like your old mother-in-law because the little bird beside that man is looking to hire someone to kill her," Ian revealed. It was a nice treat he received thanks to his business.
