Chapter 219: Chapter 218 - Witch Hunt

Point-of-View: Fenris Hunt

———————————————————————————

"I...I’m so sorry, Alexis!" I exclaimed as I prostrated myself, wracked with guilt.

It was the next day, the 4th of November, and I’d only regained consciousness about half an hour ago, apparently I got badly injured with a hole through my chest. Once I came to, Aurora told me what had happened yesterday, how I lost control while in my Crimson Werewolf form.

"Hey, no worries. It’s all good, I’m over it. You weren’t in control, so it’s totally not your fault. Come on, get off the ground, it’s kinda uncomfortable with everyone watching," Replied Alexis awkwardly, as she looked around at the others.

With the exception of the twins, who were off training somewhere together-...possibly doing other stuff instead...-everyone else was here, watching.

"Yeah, but...I could’ve killed you if Bastet and Aurora hadn’t intervened," I responded remorsefully.

"Mhm, maybe so, but you didn’t. I mean, you didn’t even inflict any serious damage onto me, so it’s totally water under the bridge," She remarked, as she reached down and patted my shoulder.

"Still, I shouldn’t just be let off the hook for it," I frowned as I clenched my fists in frustration.

Damn it, I really thought I was on track to gaining full control over that form...but I was wrong. All I was doing was resisting it, which ended up restraining the full power of the form. The last thing I wanted was to end up hurting one of the others, and that’s exactly what happened.

"Well, then, work on gaining control over it so that it doesn’t happen again. It’s as simple as that," She shrugged in response.

Yeah, I wish it were that simple...but clearly, it’s a lot easier said than done. Maybe I just don’t have the willpower to pull it off...

"I think my only choice is to avoid using it ever again, that’s-...," I began with a grimace.

"What are you, stupid? Don’t give up on such a powerful option just because of one little setback. Now, seriously, would you get up, already? You’re gonna piss me off," She frowned as she lightly tapped her foot onto the top of my head.

"Uh, okay, I guess," I nodded, as I raised my head and stood up.

"You know, I might be a bit to blame for this too. I should’ve been more thorough when I analyzed your transformation using Synchronicity," Pointed out Inoka.

"No way, that’s not true. Without your help with that, I probably wouldn’t have been able to control it even a little bit," I shook my head.

"We’ll just have to rethink how to best go about this and what would be the most effective way for you to train in order to gain control," Chimed in Aurora.

"Ooh, I know! Maybe you just need a little incentive...how about this? If you manage to fully gain control over that form, Aurora will go out on a date with you," Suggested Inoka with a grin.

Oh?

"Wha-...!? Hey, you can’t just decide that without my input!" She protested indignantly. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

"Alright, I’ll do it," I nodded as I felt a sense of determination, "After all, that’s the whole reason I’m here to begin with."

"Oh, yeah, I totally forgot about that. You only joined us because Aurora is here," Recalled Zoraiz wryly.

"Ugh, I forgot about that too," Grumbled Aurora with an exasperated sigh.

"Isn’t that what they call simping?" Mused Adelmira curiously.

"Yup, it sure it," Nodded X in amusement.

"Ohh, I’d happily simp for Aurora," I declared without hesitation.

"Please, shut up," She groaned as she buried her face in her hands.

"I mean, did you see how cute that was?" I remarked as I pointed at her.

"Keep going, just see what happens," She growled, giving me an icy death glare.

Wow, that’s some look in her eyes, I think I’m into it. Huh, am I a masochist? Hm...would I let Aurora dominate me? Yes, without hesitation. Guess that answers that.

"Hm? Hey, a portal, is it Neo?" Suddenly spoke up Kiyana, as a portal opened up a few meters away.

A foot then appeared out of it, before a woman emerged out of it. She looked like she was in her mid-twenties, with closely-cropped hair that was dyed green and combed off the left, and had several piercings across her ears, a stud in her left nostril and a lip ring. She had dark green eyes, wore black lipstick and her eyes had heavy dark eyeliner around them.

She was wearing a black tank top with a low neck that exposed her cleavage under a white short-sleeved shirt that she’d tied the ends of around her midriff, and dark blue ripped jean shorts, along with knee high black boots.

And as she stepped out of the portal, Neo appeared out of it after her, before shutting the portal as he hopped out onto the grass. As we all stared at him and the woman curiously, he addressed us...

"Hey, everyone, sorry to drop by unannounced. Before I get to why I’m here, let me introduce you...this woman here is a Witch, her name’s Serafine."

Finally, I found her! I was starting to think that I wouldn’t be able to do so...I only had one lead to go on, after searching on social media ended up being a dead end.

When I fought Cereberus and she showed up, she said something about not wanting her favorite clothing store to get destroyed. So, I’ve been hanging around here for the past few days.

Which hasn’t been great, I’ve gotten a lot of strange looks from people. Which is definitely understandable, a guy hanging around a women’s clothing store for consecutive days for several hours on end is for sure a suspicious look.

Well, since I’ve appeared on TV a bunch of times during those UN conferences, I do get recognized, and I’ve informed the staff about why I’m here, so no one’s reported me or anything.

I did ask the staff if they could keep an eye out for the woman I was looking for and then call me if she shows up, but the manager refused, claiming that exposing a customer like that would go against store policy.

But we came to a compromise, and they agreed to let me stick around and wait, so long as I buy at least one thing each day, which would make me a customer. So I’ve been buying one of their cheapest trinkets each day.

Harmony has also had some of our members searching in Russia for the Witch that Aurora encountered a while back, but no luck there so far. I was starting to lose hope as this began to feel more and more futile, but now, finally, the wait has paid off.

"Hey, it’s been a while," I greeted her, as I walked over.

"Hm? Oh, it’s you, from the other day. I don’t often see guys in this store, but no judgement," She responded, as she browsed through a rack.

"Well, actually, I’ve been looking for you. I was hoping we could talk," I replied, getting straight to the point.

"Ah, so stalking, then. Now I remember, I mentioned this store back when we fought Cereberus. My mistake. So, what do you want?" She inquired with a frown.

Yeah, she doesn’t seem too happy about it. Can’t exactly blame her, I probably wouldn’t take too kindly to being stalked either.

"I won’t beat around the bush...we need help. An invasion from Hell is imminent, and the Deities alone may not be enough to hold them off, so-...," I began to make my case.

"Pass. I just need to survive long enough till Heaven intervenes, right?" She shrugged indifferently.

"Not untrue, but by the time that happens, in all likelihood, most of the world will be in ruin. Even if you survive, it’s almost guaranteed that you won’t be able to live a comfortable life. From necessities like electricity and running water to things like shopping and watching movies, all of those will be gone," I pointed out.

"Fair enough. But it won’t matter either way if I agree to get involved and then end up dying in the process," She countered objectively.

"I’d say it’s worth the risk, but I guess it’s not that simple, huh? So, the question is...what would make it worth the risk for you?" I inquired bluntly.

"Hm...I’m listening. What can you offer me?" She responded, after a brief pause.

Crap, what do I say? Money? No, that might be insulting and only further convince her to not get involved.

"Well, uh, what do you want?" I responded uncertainly. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

"Dunno. You tell me."

Damn it, come on!

"Money?" I blurted out, as my mind blanked.

"Oh? How much are we talking here?" She inquired with a gleam in her eyes.

Huh...what do you know, this might actually work...
