"Um, excuse me, if you don’t mind me asking...don’t Witches prefer to work solo usually?" Inquired Fenris curiously.
"Well, yes, but the norm can be strayed from if the right incentive is provided," Shrugged Serafine in response.
"Which, in this case, is a whole lot of money," Smiled Neo wryly.
"Wait, that’s all it takes?" I responded in surprise.
"Well, what works as incentive probably differs from individual to individual, but yeah, this one was on board right away once I put the offer of money on the table," Replied Neo with a grin.
"You’re not wrong, but find a better way to put it," Huffed Serafine indignantly.
"So, why are you here, exactly?" Aurora asked her.
"No clue. He was asking me about how my Magic works and then suddenly brought me here out of the blue," She shrugged in response.
"Specifically, I was asking about the way her Spells function and what she’s capable of doing with them. The reason being in regards to what you spoke to me about a while back," Remarked Neo, as he glanced at me.
"Huh? Ohh, you mean about my request for a powder like substance that can absorb and store my light energy?" I recalled.
"Mhm, that’s right. We don’t know of anything that can pull that off, but her Magic just might be able to do it," He informed me.
"I think I get it now, that’s why you were asking about Infusion in so much detail," Mused Serafine thoughtfully.
"Infusion?" Zoraiz prompted her curiously.
"It’s a fairly basic technique for Witches, how to explain the way it works...hm, it’s probably easier to show than to tell," She replied, before picking up a small rock and holding it up, "Now, Infusion can either be a command or an external substance, I’ll demonstrate the former. I’ll infuse this rock with the command ’double impact’. And now..."
She then flung the rock at a nearby tree, hitting the trunk and slightly denting it...and as the rock plummeted down, the dent in the trunk suddenly got a bit deeper, splinters of wood breaking off and hitting the ground.
"Woah, that’s pretty cool," Remarked Alexis in fascination.
Yeah, a delayed second impact inflicted on the target, that could be really useful against a strong opponent, especially if any object can be infused with such a command. Like, imagine if she infused a nuke with that double impact command...
"Command Infusion is a lot easier than substance Infusion, since the latter requires compatibility. For instance, you could give me a balloon and some liquid poison, and I’d be able to infuse the poison into the air inside the balloon. And when the balloon pops, you’ve got poison gas. But I can’t infuse the poison into that rock I just threw...well, technically, I could, but it wouldn’t actually do anything," Explained Serafine.
Ohh, now I get why Neo brought her here...
"Question, can you infuse energy into stuff?" I asked her, my eyes lighting up.
"Huh? Well, I’ve never tried that, but I probably should be able to, yes. Why?" She inquired in response.
"Well, it’s like this, since Demons are weak to Light Skill energy, I’ve been trying to infuse my light energy into various powders, to create smoke bombs that’ll weaken Demons," I informed her.
"Oh, that’s not a bad idea. But from what I understand, simply channeling your Aura energy onto something won’t infuse it with said energy. However, I should be able to do that," She replied with a nod.
"You’re willing to help out with that? For real?" I responded eagerly.
Finally, I have a real breakthrough! Granted, it’s not through anything I’ve done, but still! I was getting real tired of the constant dead ends with my experiments.
"Yeah, sure, why not? It sounds like it could be fun. And besides, I am being paid to cooperate, so I might as well pull my weight," She shrugged, before adding, "From the sound of it, you’ve been working on this for some time, is that right? Why don’t you show me where you work, and I’ll see what I can do."
"Sure, it’s right this way," I nodded, as I led her to my RV.
Man, I really hope this works, it could be huge if it does!

"Hm? Hey, you okay? You look like you’re in kind of a bad mood," I said to Kiyana, as I noticed her looking a bit pouty.
"H-huh? No, I’m not," She shook her head before putting on a poker face.
"Ohh, I get it, you’re jealous...some other woman is alone with Inoka in his RV, and you don’t like that, do you?" Smirked Fenris knowingly.
"N-no, that’s not it at all!" She denied immediately.
Huh, looks like he hit the nail on the head.
"Woah, how’d you know?" Alexis asked him.
"Oh, Aurora and I walked in on them with their tongues down each other’s throats the other day," He replied with a grin.
"Wha-...hey!" Groaned Kiyana in dismay, as she turned red, before muttering in exasperation, "You couldn’t keep that to yourself?"
"Yeah, that was really embarrassing," Nodded Aurora with a slight awkward look on her face.
She’s really innocent when it comes to this stuff, isn’t she?
"Is it really that big a deal?" Chimed in Adelmira with a shrug, before pointing out, "I mean, just look at the twins."
"Not the best example, they’re, uh...sort of a special case," Sighed X wistfully.
"That’s for sure," Nodded Alexis in agreement.
"Anyway, I’m going to my RV, see you guys later," Kiyana swiftly retreated while the attention was off her.
"Oh, look at the time...it’s already past time for us to get to training for the day," X said to Adelmira, who nodded in response before they both headed out to the woods.
"I’m gonna go chase down Bastet. Clashing with a Deity regularly makes us stronger, right? And if he won’t train me, I’ll just attack him and force him to defend himself," Remarked Aurora, before glancing at Fenris, "Wanna join me?" freewebnovel.cσ๓
"Sure, sounds like fun," He nodded eagerly.
Huh, that’s a pretty good idea, actually. Though, well, the two of them are the only ones who can pull that off...if Alexis or I tried that, Bastet would probably just go and hide.
But these two can easily just sniff him out if he does that. Heh, he’s so gonna hate this, nice, wish I could see his face when they jump him. As the two of them left, the only ones still here were myself and Alexis.
"So, it’s just you and me, huh?" She remarked, after a brief silence.
"Yeah, guess so," I replied with a nod.
"Hey, um...wanna head into town and look around? Apparently, they’ve rebuilt it after Lucifer destroyed it," She suggested, fidgeting slightly.
Huh, ever since that day, none of us have left the campsite excluding the times when Neo portals us out. We haven’t been told to stay away from it or anything, especially now that Meta-Humans are no longer a secret.
"Oh, sure, that sounds good," I responded, as I stared up at the sky.
It’s a bit cloudy today, and the weather is nice and cool.
"Great, then let’s go...it’s a date," She replied, averting her gaze slightly as she led the way.
"Huh? Uh, right...," I muttered, slightly taken aback.
"What’s the matter, you’re looking kinda red," She smirked teasingly.
Tch, I know that she’s at least a little bit flustered too, her voice cracked a bit when she said that this is a date. She’s trying to mask it by deflecting the focus onto me.
Fine, then, if that’s how she wants to play it...well, two can play at this game. Hm...but what should I do? What’ll fluster her the most? She’s probably prepared for me to point out that she’s the one who asked me out, and if I say that, she might suggest that I’m being really hung up on such a small comment.
I’m not gonna be satisfied with just flustering her a little bit, gotta make her really feel it. It has to be something that she can’t just brush off...but what? An idea then hit me, a really daring, and kinda risky idea...and then, before I could think it through, I threw caution to the wind and acted on impulse...
"Hey," I remarked, as I reached out and took hold of her arm.
"Hm? Yeah, what’s-...mfph!" She began, before I cut her off with a kiss, pressing my lips onto hers for a couple of seconds before pulling away.
Her face turned red as I met her gaze, her mouth opening slightly as she let out a faint ’huh?’, rendered completely speechless.
"What’s the matter?" I inquired with a smirk as she averted her gaze, "You’re looking kinda red."
Nailed it...but, uh, wow...I really didn’t think that through, and I, uh, I probably should have...I can feel my own face heating up too...
