Chapter 210: Chapter 209 - Rogue Deity
Point-of-View: Anarchy/Liling Jin
———————————————————————————
"Hm, this is concerning...perhaps it would be best if we move to a new location," Frowned Dracula cautiously.
"Yeah, I agree, the former Eden members who attacked you two might have informed others before you killed them," Nodded Camelia in agreement.
In case you forgot, she’s the girl whose family Dracula used to live with until they were killed by religious fanatics, and then she was turned into a Vampire Kin by Dracula afterwards.
She’s been training hard to master the powers she gained, and she’s now close to Category 0 level. Her previously long blonde hair had been cut a lot shorter, at about shoulder length, she’d dyed a couple of red streaks across the front, and had tied up her hair in a high ponytail.
She had the signature red eyes of Vampires and Vampire Kinsmen, the tips of her ears were more pointy, and she had fangs and claws. She’d also bulked up a bit and her body was more toned and fit than before.
Since she used to live on a farm, she’d always been in decent physical shape, so strengthening herself wasn’t too difficult. She picked up hand to hand combat pretty quickly as well, she’s improved by leaps and bounds.
Well, there is the fact that being made a Vampire’s Kinsmen results in superhuman strength and speed, but still. She’s mastered Blood Control at a pretty high level too.
Unfortunately, Vampire Kinsmen don’t have the regenerative abilities of real Vampires, so she can’t instantly regain any blood she loses. But all she needs is a couple of drops...infect a normal person with those drops and their blood is hers to control.
Apparently, Vampires don’t like using that technique since it hurts their pride, it’s like admitting that their own blood isn’t enough to defeat an opponent or something. freёweɓnovel.com
But since Vampire Kinsmen can’t generate unlimited blood like actual Vampires can, and they don’t possess the other abilities of Vampires, this technique is their best option.
So, yeah, Vampire Kinsmen are limited to Blood Control and superhuman strength and speed, plus a boost to their senses, but other than that, they don’t possess any other abilities.
Camelia wanted more options up her sleeve, so...she added guns to her arsenal, a pair of semi-automatic pistols.
Anyway, back to the matter at hand...Wrest and Arisu had just come back from shopping, and there was an unmistakable scent of blood around them.
They then informed us that they’d been recognized and ambushed by former members of Eden, some of the many who’d been abandoned by their higher ups before they were wiped out. They were all nobodies though, and were dealt with quite easily by the two of them.
And now, the others are considering moving to a new location, which I’m totally against. It’s only been two weeks or so since we got here! And even with Glenn’s portals to speed up the process, moving is such a pain!
"There’s no need to be so hasty. I highly doubt they had the foresight to spread the news before jumping the two of you, to begin with. And besides, I like it here...if it looks like our cover is blown, we can always just leave in an instant if necessary," I pointed out, as I patted Glenn on the shoulder.
"Yeah, I guess that’s true," Responded Wrest, whose hands I’d just healed.
Arisu broke all his fingers and both wrists because he smacked her ass or something, it wasn’t a pretty sight.
"It’s all the same to me, it’s not like I’ll be able to go outside regardless of where our hideout is," Shrugged Afro indifferently.
Yeah the others said that he’s too conspicuous, so they decided that he should stay hidden. And I’m too recognizable thanks to all those videos I’ve uploaded.
"You know, I’ve been wondering about this for a while...it’s safe to say that we are the core of Chaos. So wouldn’t it make more sense for us to spread out instead of staying in the same place?" Spoke up Lance objectively.
Huh?
"Hm, yes, there is merit in that suggestion. If we divide into pairs and then split up amongst the dozens of other hideouts we have all over the world, where the rest of our members are located, it will be easier for each of us to operate, as one person’s mistake will not affect all of us at the same time, which is the case as things currently stand," Agreed Dracula, after mulling it over.
"Woah, woah, woah, isn’t that a bit extreme? We should think things through a bit more!" I protested immediately.
I like the vibe in this group, don’t want to break it up so soon.
"True, I mean, it’s not like we left any witnesses alive. Plus, we chopped up the bodies after we killed them, so that it’s unclear what kind of injuries did them in. That way, no one will be able to tell what powers were used to kill them. And it’ll probably be days before they’re discovered, so any lingering scents should get washed away. Heavy rains have been forecast for the next few days," Spoke up Arisu.
"Yup, exactly, what she said," I nodded in agreement.
"You’re just lazy to move again, aren’t you?" Sighed Glenn in exasperation, narrowing his eyes at me.
"Whaaaat? Nooo, that’s not it at all!" I shook my head with an innocent expression.
"You’re not a great liar for someone who had so many people fooled for so long," Muttered Lance dryly.
"Uh, then, how about this? The Deities are likely to be after us, moving around too much increases our chances of running into one of them. True, they’ve stopped rampaging, but they’re not just sitting around. Many of them have been spotted roaming around lately, be it in their air, in the sea or on land," I pointed out.
"Yes, that is unfortunately true. Ideally, we could slay them, but they are simply too powerful," Sighed Dracula wistfully.
"The only ones who could kill a Deity would be either God or Satan themselves, the Demons of Sin if they have access to their full power, or another Deity...," Surmised Wrest in response.
"Yeah, right, like a Deity would ever turn on another Deity," Arisu rolled her eyes.
"Hm...that might work. Throughout history, only two Deities have ever perished, and they were killed by Satan with the help of another Deity," Recalled Dracula, a slight grimace on his face.
Oh, yeah, that’s right. That Deity was the first to ever rebel from the common purpose that Deities share; protecting the world from Monsters and the denizens of Hell.
That Deity later managed to influence a few minor Deities to do the same...but neither that Deity nor the ones it influenced had been sighted during the current Deity awakening spree. But, then, considering the powers that Deity possesses...
"Well, now...I think I smell the opportunity of a potential ally," I smirked eagerly.
"I would be careful about that...that Deity is one who does as they please in any situation, with no sense of loyalty or allegiance to anything or anyone except themselves," Dracula warned me.
"Mhm, and that fits perfectly with our MO. A genuine loose cannon, a real wild card! What could possibly be more chaotic than that?" I laughed gleefully.
"Uh-oh, I think she might have already made up her mind about this," Groaned Glenn in dismay.
"Hey, so, what are we talking about, exactly?" Inquired Afro curiously.
"It’s simple...one of the Rival Elemental Deities is something of a rogue. Laplace, the Rival Space Deity, his powers are quite terrifying. In addition to absolute mastery over the Space Skill, he also possesses the ability to know everything that’s happening everywhere at the same time...he usually prefers to play the role of observer, but he’s not chained to that role. At least, that’s what history suggests," I explained with a grin.
"Yes, that would he an accurate assessment. He is highly troublesome to deal with when he decides to get directly involved," Sighed Dracula with a wary look on his face.
"Not a problem as far as I’m concerned. I wanna meet this guy! Hey, Laplace, if you can hear and/or see me, which I know you can, get over here, I’ve got a proposal," I remarked, as I stood up and walked around.
"For all you know, he’s still dormant. Or, alternatively, he’s ignoring you," Said Wrest with a shrug.
"Possibly, yes. But if I were him, I wouldn’t pass up an opportunity like this one...the opportunity to have some fun and bring about some real chaos!" I declared enthusiastically.
"Seriously, what is wrong with you? Why do you always have to act so impuls-..." Groaned Glenn, before trailing off right as a portal opened up above us, a powerful Aura filling the room.
"Tch...no doubt about it, I recognize this Aura, it is him...," Grimaced Dracula with a look of dread on his face...
