Chapter 194: Chapter 193 - Wouldn’t Be That Stupid
Point-of-View: Neo Cronje

"Well, look on the bright side...at least all this mayhem has taken focus away from the whole Meta-Orb project scandal," Remarked Elise, as she patted my shoulder.
"That hardly matters now...this is really bad," I grimaced in response, as I scrolled through social media.
"Way to make an understatement. All these Deities awakening is no joke," Frowned Tara restlessly.
"And something’s strange about the Monsters too...since some time yesterday, all the Monsters that’ve been killed have remained in our world, instead of getting drawn back into the Mirror Dimension. The good news is that it doesn’t seem like there are any more Monsters showing up, but there are still thousands upon thousands of them roaming about, killing people," Sighed Leonardo worriedly.
Today’s the 24th of September, and I was currently in one of Harmony’s hidden bases, in Spain. I’d been sent here with some of the other Category 0s, Elise, Leonardo, Tara and Kechik, to back up Carmen, who lived here.
There had been a lot of Prime-Tier Monsters in this area, so it was tough, but we managed to deal with them without too much trouble.
Side note, it feels kinds weird that everyone can see Monsters now...there’s no doubt about it, every single person on the planet is now a Meta-Human.
Crime rates have gone up drastically in the last few days as a result, it’s not been pretty. And last night, things got even worse.
After the Monsters were seemingly cut off from the Mirror Dimension, with an estimated few million of them stuck here, more Deities began showing up.
Sightings of the other Elemental Dragon Deities had been reported, along with pictures and footage to back up those sightings. But the Dragons aren’t the only Elemental Deities in the world...and some of the rest have been sighted too.
With the Deities going berserk as they hunted down Monsters, killing a few million people in the process already, the Outliers were being kept at their campsite, the higher ups deciding that it was too risky to chance them running into a Deity while on a Monster extermination mission.
The Aqua Dragon Deity, Vapora, had emerged from the Indian Ocean, and went after a massive group of Monsters in Pakistan, inadvertently killing thousands of people as it wiped out the Monsters.
The Aero Dragon Deity, Cerulea, emerged from a cave in the Alps, before running amok in Germany and Austria, where several Monsters had emerged.
Geod, the Terra Dragon Deity, had emerged from underground in Japan, setting off intense earthquakes across the country and, again, killing thousands of people as it hunted Monsters, on top of the mountain of deaths that has resulted from the earthquakes it triggered upon awakening.
Inferno, the Pyro Dragon Deity, has burned several cities to the ground while rampaging after Monsters. The Electro Dragon Deity, Flash, was causing death and destruction in Brazil after emerging there.
The Darkness Dragon Deity, Nox, was doing the same in Portugal, and Void, the Space Dragon Deity...actually hadn’t caused that much collateral damage, at least in comparison to the others.
And finally, Lux, the Light Dragon Deity, had caused zero direct casualties since its light attacks are deadly to Monsters but actually heals humans, though a few people had died as a result of it knocking down buildings and stuff while chasing after Monsters.
The other Elemental Deities are referred to as the Rival Elemental Deities to the Dragons, they’ve all appeared too, and they’ve been causing very similar levels of destruction in their wake.
Charybdis, a giant whale-like creature, the Rival Aqua Deity...lots of ships have disappeared around the area where in emerged, in the Pacific Ocean. And a few small islands have been completely destroyed too.
Then there was Garuda, a large humanoid bird creature, the Rival Aero Deity, Cereberus the Hellhound, a massive three headed dog creature that could breathe fire, the Rival Pyro Deity, Titan, a giant gorilla creature and the Rival Terra Deity, all emerged across different countries in Africa.
The Rival Electro Deity, Kw-Uhnx-Wa, also known as the Thunderbird, emerged in North America, and a lot of people were struck by lightning as it flew above them.
Laplace, the Rival Space Deity, is possibly the most problematic Deity to emerge...while most Deities despise Demons and the denizens of Hell, there are a few Deities that have worked with Hell in the past...Laplace is one of them.
In fact, he helped kill the Rival Dark and Light Deities, which remain the only known instances of Elemental Deities being killed.
Beings like Bastet, that aren’t Elemental Deities, are considered minor Deities, but they’re still extremely powerful in their own rights.
There are other Deities with Elemental powers, but aren’t considered powerful enough to be put on the same level as the Elemental Dragon Deities and Rival Elemental Deities.
So far, at least thirty Deities have been confirmed to have emerged. When they’re dormant, they stay that way for a long time, centuries upon centuries in most cases. And when they awaken, they tend to stay awake for at least a few decades. freewēbnoveℓ.com
Once the Monsters are dealt with, they’ll stop rampaging, but...they’ll still be around. They won’t attack humans unprovoked, but if, say, a country decides to try nuking them or something, they’ll respond with aggression.
From what I know, the last time anywhere near this many Deities awakened was back during the last time Hell and the living world were connected and Devil and Demons flooded through.
That was way back during the Middle Ages. And the way things have been going recently, if it gets any worse, death and destruction will become commonplace around the world.
The Deities have already killed several Monsters, but there are still a few million left. And the human death toll has been much higher than the Monster death toll.
After all, Monsters are drawn to Auras, and with every single person emitting an Aura now, naturally, the Monsters would be attracted to areas with dense populations.
So, inevitably, when the Deities hunt down the Monsters, the end up in highly populated areas, and most of them have no regard for human life, meaning that they don’t hold back at all.
"Hey, check it out...the Eiffel Tower has been melted down into a clump of metal. Looks like the Pyro Dragon attacked a bunch of Monsters in Paris," Remarked Kechik, as he showed us his phone.
"What!? But we eliminated the Monsters in Paris, how did enough appear to attract a Deity!?" Exclaimed Elise in dismay.
"If I had to guess, the people from the nearby cities must have fled to Paris after hearing that the Monsters there had been killed. Which, inadvertently, would have drawn more Monsters there," Pointed out Carmen in response.
"It’ll still be at least a few more days before people start to get the hang of Aura control, so them running away from the Monsters isn’t going to help at all," Sighed Leonardo grimly.
"Oh, looks like the Aqua Dragon has appeared in Sri Lanka," Kechik informed us with a shrug.
Huh? Oh, no.
"Where, exactly? Which city?" I frowned, as I looked it up as fast as possible, grimacing as I found out, "Well, this isn’t good."
"What is it?" Inquired Tara in response.
"It’s just a few kilometers from the Outliers’ campsite...let’s just hope it stays away from them, or even worse, that they approach it themselves," I muttered grimly...nah, no way, they wouldn’t be that stupid.
Right?

"Are you insane? Absolutely not, that’s a terrible idea!" Protested Inoka incredulously.
"We have to do something...so many people are being killed unnecessarily," I frowned in response.
"I get where you’re coming from and all, but even if we do go there, there’s really nothing we can do," Chimed in Dieter, as Petra nodded as well.
Tch, first time I’m seeing them outside their RV in days, they might as well just go back in there and fuck the day away again if they’re not gonna help.
"I have to agree, we don’t stand a chance against a Deity. We’re not even capable of beating this guy, and he’s absolutely nothing compared to a Dragon Deity," Pointed out Zoraiz, nodding at Bastet.
"While that statement is not untrue, you did not have to put it like that," Huffed Bastet indignantly.
"Sorry, but they’re right, Aurora...worst case scenario, we’ll all end up dead too," Spoke up Alexis.
"And best case scenario, we can at least save a few people," I countered in response.
"You know, I think I’m on her side with this," Chimed in Adelmira.
"You might want to think this through a bit more, you know, it’s way too dangerous," Frowned X in disapproval.
"I have thought it through. And I think there’s a way we could fight the Deity. You can use your Nullification to block its powers, Inoka can, like, break its bones or something by touching it, and Aurora and Fenris might be able to deal some damage," She suggested objectively.
"I suppose that could work, but...if it doesn’t, we’ll only end up angering it. So far, the Deities have been killing millions of people by accident...so imagine how many they could kill if they do so by deliberately targeting humans. We could end up making things so much worse," Frowned Zoraiz in response.
I can’t deny that he has a point there, but...I can’t just sit idly by while innocent people within my reach are being slaughtered.
"I’m going. Even if I have to do so alone. I have to at least try," I stated, as I turned around and began heading in the direction where the Deity was...it’s a few kilometers away, I should be able to make it there in a few minutes if I move at full speed, so-...
"Wait up, I’m coming with you," Volunteered Fenris, as he jogged over.
"You sure? You heard the others, you could die," I remarked with a frown.
"It’s worth the risk...this’ll help me score some points with you," He grinned in response.
"Yeah, it might have, if you didn’t just say that," I signed in exasperation, before giving him a wry smile, "But thanks."
"Don’t mention it."
"Goddammit...fine, I’m coming too," Groaned Inoka, as he dragged his feet over.
"Well, you can’t try the plan Miraliz suggested without me, so I guess I’ll tag along. But FYI, if things get dicey, I’m out of there," Added X reluctantly.
"No fair, we’ll look bad if we opt out now," Grumbled Alexis, as she and Zoraiz joined up as well.
"We can get there faster if I teleport everyone. But I’ll be staying a safe distance away once we get there," Chimed in Dieter, Petra walking over as well.
"I don’t suppose you’d be willing to help us out? It’d make a huge difference," Inoka said to Bastet hopefully.
"I decline. However, a large amount of Monsters this close to my vicinity is unacceptable...I shall eliminate them, and I shall make an effort to avoid killing any humans as collateral damage. But make no mistake, I shall have no involvement in battling another Deity, let alone an Elemental Dragon," Came the firm response.
Well, that’s better than nothing, I guess. Alright, then...let’s do this... freeωebnovēl.c૦m
