Chapter 193: Chapter 192 - Persuasion

Point-of-View: Wrest Seizel

———————————————————————————

I...I need to find a Dark Skill user who can erase my memory of the last half an hour, I’ve never felt so traumatized. Anarchy definitely won’t help me with this, she’ll just laugh, and probably tell everyone too.

"Okay, I did my part...your turn," I muttered, as Asmodeus hummed to himself cheerfully.

"Mm, but of course, how could I not hold up my end of the bargain after an experience like that?" He smirked in response, before closing his eyes and holding his hand out.

Suddenly, a rift formed ahead of his hand, sending chills down my spine as it opened up and I felt the hint of a devastatingly powerful Aura...holy shit, i-it’s fully suppressed, and I can still feel it this clearly?

"Asmodeus? What is it?" Came a low, intimidating voice.

"This one would like to make a request of you, my lord," Responded the Demon, before gesturing to me.

"Oh? Very well, then, speak," Satan prompted me.

My gaze was downcast, my body frozen in fear as I broke out into a cold sweat, unable to look up at him.

"W-well, you see, I wanted to request that you strengthen the separation between the living world and the Mirror Dimension, to plug the influx on Monsters appearing in this world."

"And why would I do that? How would that be of any benefit to me?" He responded dismissively.

He sounds like he has no intention of doing that...I need to convince him somehow...!

"Tell me...is your goal to subjugate the living world and rule over it?" I replied, taking a shot in the dark.

"Hm? I do not see how that is relevant, but I suppose that is partially accurate. By increasing the rule of my domain to both Hell and the living world, I shall gain enough power to overthrow Heaven itself. Why do you ask?"

This is my chance...

"At the moment, Monsters are killing humans at a rapid pace. At this rate, there will be none left in, most likely, less than two months. The influx of Monsters has resulted in several Deities awakening as well. If all the humans die, there won’t be anyone in this world worth ruling over, nothing intelligent, anyway.

And the more Deities that awaken, the harder it’ll be for Hell to subjugate the living world...I doubt any one of them are a threat to you on their own, but against several of them, even you would have trouble.

And as for the Demons, even with their full power unleashed, the strongest Demons are, at most, as equally powerful as the strongest Deities. If you can stop, or at least slow down, the invading Monsters, that should prevent too many Deities from awakening.

What’s more, every human now has powers...of course, they’re far too weak to be a threat, but they might just be strong enough to provide plenty of entertainment, potentially speaking. Wouldn’t it be a waste to let that opportunity die?" I remarked, concluding my effort at convincing him.

I can’t think of anything else to say, so I won’t. I don’t want to end up blurting out something that’ll ruin things.

"Interesting...very interesting. You make a rather convincing case, I must admit. Yes...the Deities have been a thorn in my side in the past, having all of them awaken again would be a scenario that I would prefer to avoid.

And having every human possessing powers, that could certainly make for some excellent entertainment. Meta-Humans who are not governed by any single organization, people who dream and fantasize about possessing such powers having their wish come true, seeing how they handle it while not in imminent life threatening danger should prove to be quite fascinating to witness.

Very well, then...I shall accept your request, human. But I shall wait a couple of days. There are simply too many humans, a few more millions dead would not make much of a difference."

"Okay, that’s fine...I’m not gonna get too greedy, that’s good enough for me," I nodded in response.

"Quite clever of you, had you attempted to force the issue and coerce me, I may have changed my mind and turned down your request. But know this...while I will be able to stop Monsters invading from the Mirror Dimension for several years by strengthening the separation of worlds, the ones that are present in the living world when I do so will remain in the living world."

"Got it. That’s not a problem, dealing with large numbers that you’re aware of is far better than dealing with large numbers that remain endless no matter how many you cut down," I replied, accepting it.

It’s not ideal, but it’s better than the alternative. So long as I myself am not in any danger, so be it.

"You intrigue me, human. Perhaps I shall bring your soul back as a Demon when your mortal body dies," He laughed in amusement, as the rift began to close, before it suddenly stopped as he added, "Ah, one more thing...as you have captured my interest, how about this? I shall allow you to make a Summoning Contract with me. What do you say?"

...huh?

Well, the couple of days off was nice while it lasted. But as the Monster outbreaks had continued relentlessly over the last couple of days, Harmony couldn’t just keep ignoring the situation. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

I’m not obligated to help Harmony, but this situation is kind of a special case...if we continue to let these Monsters run amok, it won’t be long before I can’t say it’s not my problem anymore or whatever.

I was currently in Sweden, along with X, Adelmira and some other Meta-Humans whom I don’t know. It’s been an hour, we’ve kept cutting them down, but they just keep coming.

With their numbers seemingly undented even after all this time, it’s hard not to get discouraged and just feel like giving up already. Man, this sucks!

Some of the civilians around were trying to help, firing off their newly acquired attacks at the Monsters...but without proper control, they’re really only just getting in the way.

Their attacks nearly hit me on several occasions, which was hardly surprising considering the fact that they’re just firing off in a panic.

Can’t exactly blame them either, they’ve never even been able to see these creatures before, not to mention that they’ve never fought for their lives before either.

Most of the Outliers were like that too, but the difference is that they received plenty of training after they gained their powers. They can all hold their own now, but these people have only had their powers for three days or so.

"Damn it, I’m not sure how much longer I can keep this up!" Snapped X, as she evaded the flames of a Firefox and closed in on it from its left side, jamming a dagger into the side of its throat and twisting it sharply as she yanked it out, killing it.

"Just don’t think about it, keep fighting!" I responded with a grimace, as I raised my foot up high and rapidly swung it down as a Chupacabra leapt at me, my heel slamming onto the top of its head and crushing it as it hit the ground with immense force.

"Hey, this is weird, something’s off here," Frowned Adelmira, as she swung her finger across, firing out a narrow beam of water and slicing apart several Monsters, "Why aren’t they getting sucked back into the Mirror Dimension anymore?"

Huh? Oh...she’s right. The Monster corpses are just laying there, and no distortions are appearing anywhere to pull them back into the Mirror Dimension.

"I might be wrong here, but, uh...I think this is a good thing! It doesn’t look like any more of them are showing up!" I realized, as I glanced around to see that, for the first time, it looked like the Monsters’ numbers were starting to diminish.

"Yeah...yeah, I think you’re right! Okay, then, let’s finish this!" Declared X, seeming to have gained a burst of motivation now that the Monsters’ numbers weren’t endless, as she shot towards several Monsters, swiftly slashing and stabbing at their vital spots as she shot past them.

Adelmira seemed to have had a surge of energy too, zipping across and firing out her water beam at a bunch of Monsters, piercing through or slicing them apart, rapidly cutting them down, as the other X-Warriors also got in on the action.

I ducked under the slash of a Cyclops’ claws and countered by leaping up and driving my claws into its eye, bursting out through the back of its head before I yanked my arm out and landed, grabbing its ankle before it could collapse and swinging it up, before slamming it down at a couple of smaller Monsters that had closed in on me.

Not really sure why exactly the Mirror Dimension has suddenly been cut off, but I’m not about to look a gift horse in the mouth!
