Chapter 172: Chapter 171 - Test It Out
Point-of-View: Aurora Pretorius
———————————————————————————
The moment we walked through the portal, chills ran down my spine as my instincts went crazy, my body stiffening up and my hair standing on end as I sensed a seriously unpleasant feeling.
I could see some figures up ahead, standing by the base of one of the pyramids, but a sand cloud was blowing across, obscuring my vision...however, I didn’t need to see to be able to feel that there’s something horrifying over there.
It feels like Demons, but so much more intense that I’ve ever sensed before...this feels really bad, we might be in for more than we can handle. fгeewebnovёl.com
"What the hell is this...?" Muttered Fenris with a look of horror...I guess he must be feeling it too.
The dust then cleared as the wind died down, to reveal a total of nine people up ahead...and as I realized that three of them were Demons, a bead of sweat ran down the side of my face.
Lucifer, he’s back...and those other two, they’re more or less equally as powerful as he is. One of them was tall and slender, with flowing medium-long silver hair that framed his face, long lashes, bright green eyes, a horn on either side of his head that twisted in towards each other, kinda like a heart shape.
He also had bat-like black wings and a long flexible black tail with a heart shape at the tip. He wore a red shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows with half the buttons undone and revealing his chest. He also had on a loosely worn black tie and black trousers.
The other Demon was on the plump side, with spiked up purple hair, red eyes, black bat-like wings, and a long slender flexible black tail. He had a horn growing out from just above the middle of his forehead, which twisted down towards tip of nose.
He wore a loose fitting dark blue open hoodie with long sleeves over a white t-shirt, and loose black trousers. There was something familiar about the feel of him...and unpleasantly familiar at that.
Aside from the Demons, I recognize some of the others...one of them is the woman who was in charge of the attack on my cheetahs, she must have defected to Chaos, huh?
And that’s not all, I can sense several rifts, it’s not gonna take much to bring out what’s likely going to be several hundred Monsters.
As the Chaos group spotted us, a guy with dark blonde hair and a dragon tattoo on his left cheek took out his phone and tapped away with a smirk.
"Crap, looks like Lucifer is back," Frowned Neo warily.
"Hey, this is really bad...those other two Demons feel just as powerful as he is!" I exclaimed urgently.
"What!? Well, that’s not good...," Responded Mike nervously, as he took a step back.
"I’m also sensing a lot of rifts, there’s a large number of Monsters that could show up here," I informed them.
"That does it, bring in all the back up we have on standby!" Remarked Richard, before adding, "We’ll have them deal with the Monsters, while we focus on these nine."
"My thoughts exactly," Replied Neo with a nod, right before a portal opened up behind the Chaos group.
"That was fast," Said X in surprise.
"That, uh...that wasn’t me," Neo corrected her with a nervous grimace, before quickly opening several portals of his own, bringing in all thousand of the back up Metas that were on standby.
"So, uh, why aren’t they attacking us?" Inquired Elise in confusion, as about two hundred Meta-Humans walked out of the portal behind the Chaos members.
"They’re probably waiting for us to attack first, innit?" Pointed out Maeve.
"It’s likely that they’ll begin attracting Monsters out as soon as we attack," Frowned Leonardo warily.
"How do we deal with the Demons?" Asked Kiyana grimly.
"Leave Lucifer to me. It’s not a full moon out tonight, but I should still be able to handle him," Volunteered Fenris with a look of determination on his face.
"I’ll back you up and cover you," Replied Inoka with a thumbs up.
"I’ll take on one of the other two Demons...the fatter one, I guess," I added, after glancing at them, "I’m fairly sure that’s Beelzebub, the one who messed things up for us in Hungary. He’s mine."
"Lance will probably come after me, but I can’t afford to deal with him, I’ll leave him to you two, X and Kiyana...Maeve, Richard, you two and I will take on Dracula. Leonardo, Elise and Mike, you three take on the pretty boy-looking Demon.
Liling, lead the others into attacking the rest and keeping them away from us...deal with the Chaos’ Meta-Humans and any Monsters that might show up," Instructed Neo, as he suddenly opened up a huge portal above the Chaos group, "Guess I’ll signal the start of the battle...let’s see how many I can take out with the sheer force from the pressure of the bottom of the sea, shall we?"
My nose twitched as I caught whiff of a salty smell, before a massive amount of salt water came bursting down towards the Chaos group from Neo’s portal.
As the water crashed down onto them with immense force, a misty shockwave bursting out upon impact and hitting us with a light, salty spray, Neo then closed the portal to avoid completely flooding the place, before the water spread out and sunk into the sand.
"Couldn’t get all of them, huh?" Sighed Inoka wryly.
That portal was huge, and it took a bit longer to fully open that his usual, smaller portals. That gave the enemy more time to react to it.
Most of the ones who’d come here through that Chaos portal as back up to the enemy were dead, their bodies crushed and broken. But the nine that had initially been here and a few of the reinforcements were still alive...and it didn’t take me long to realize how...
"Lucifer’s gravity field thing, huh?" I muttered in realization, right as I felt several Auras being unleashed...the Monsters will be here any second now.
"Okay, it’s now or never...time to attack!" Declared Neo, as he shot a fireball into a portal, which emerged through a connected portal right behind the Chaos group, which Dracula easily batted away with the back of his hand without so much as flinching.
I then shot forward as I unleashed my Shadow Cat form, making a beeline towards the fat Demon...the closer I get, the more certain I am that he’s Beelzebub. I’m gonna kill him.
A smirk appeared on his face as he spotted me barreling towards him, before I launched myself towards him as I closed in and slashed at him with the claws of my Shadow Cat.
He ducked to avoid it before springing back and firing out a Negative Blast at me, which I grabbed with my Shadow Cat and dissipated it by crushing it in my fist.
"Looks like you recognize me, huh? Those senses of yours really are quite impressive. But I’ll reintroduce myself anyway...of the Sin of Gluttony, I am the Demon Beelzebub," He greeted me with a smirk.
"You’re awfully light on your feet, contrary to appearances," I responded dryly, before slashing at his throat with my claws.
He leaned back to evade it, before bursting out earth spikes towards me, which I countered by increasing the density of my Shadow Cat, the spikes breaking apart as they struck my shadowy armor.
I then whipped my tail across at his face, grazing the bridge of his nose as he swiftly tilted his neck back, before I swung my foot up and across at his gut, aiming to slice it open.
He responded by bending his back to get his stomach out of the line of my slash, which I just barely grazed. Suddenly, he abruptly arched his back forward as he puffed out his stomach, which struck me and sent me flying back, before I jammed my hands and feet into the sand to halt myself.
I swiftly glanced around to make sure there were no other enemies nearby. Hm, good, it looks like the fighting’s spread out, there’s no one too close by right now...which means that I don’t have to hold myself back anymore. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
I sent several shadowy streaks with sharp, bladed ends whipping out towards him, rapidly swinging and slashing them as they converged in on him.
He quickly flew up in response, sustaining several deep cuts and losing his left leg, but the injuries were already starting to heal up.
I then fired out a barrage of small but rapid Negative Blasts up at him, a few of them grazing him as he zipped around the air to evade them...tch, my Dark Skill attacks aren’t very effective against Demons, and I’m not sure how, but this guy is somehow even faster than Lucifer!
Suddenly, he began swooping down towards me, which I immediately responded by firing out several shadowy streaks up at him. But he didn’t change his course, instead forming ten purple whip-like streaks of his own from his fingers.
Is that a Skill technique? Or a different kind of ability like Lucifer’s telekinesis and stuff?
My eyes then widened in alarm as my streaks came into contact with his...and dissipated, as the Aura sustaining them got absorbed and consumed by the dark purple streaks.
Something was telling me that I don’t want to get touched by one of those streaks, or I’m dead...as he closed in on me, I sprang back as far as I could, as he slammed his feet onto the sand as he landed.
"You really are incredibly powerful for a human...but don’t worry, once I kill you, Lord Satan will make sure that your soul is brought back in Hell," He remarked tauntingly.
"Oh, please, you can barely handle me as a human, you don’t want me as a Demon," I smirked in response, as I crouched low...maybe it’s time I finally test this out on a real opponent...
