Chapter 168: Chapter 167 - No Spoilers

Point-of-View: Neo Cronje

———————————————————————————

"How many should we send to deal with this?"

"We have no idea how many of the enemy will be there!"

"If we send too few, it could prove to be fatal."

"But if we send too many, we’ll be stretching the security of some of our bases far too thin, that could be exactly what Chaos is after!"

"If they show up with a Demon on their side, we won’t have a choice...especially if it turns out that they’ve allied with multiple Demons!"

"That could explain why they’ve been so silent all this time."

"Then we can’t afford to send anyone ranked lower than Category 1, we’ll only be sending them straight to their deaths."

"Again, that could be exactly what they’re after, we might end up playing right into their hands!"

"How many Category 0s should we send? Especially now that we’ve lost three of them during that last battle against Eden?"

"We can’t afford to suffer any more serious blows to our forces."

They’ve been at this for two hours already, and none of the rest of us have been able to get so much as a word in edgewise. Stupid old farts, just make up your decrepit minds already!

It was about two and a half hours after Anarchy had posted that video online...the higher ups had called a meeting with all of us Category 0s, and the high level Category 1s like Liling, Kiyana and a few others.

Time’s running out fast, and these stupid old farts have done nothing but go around in circles with their arguments on how to handle this situation.

It doesn’t help that they’ve been receiving pressure from the UN as well, the entire world is in an uproar about this whole thing.

The area around the Pyramids of Giza have been completely evacuated, and they heeded Anarchy’s warning, and there aren’t even any guards or cops over there, it’s completely deserted.

But that doesn’t mean we can just leave it alone...if no one shows up, there’s nothing stopping Anarchy and Chaos from moving the site of their attack to a more populated area and slaughtering hundreds.

With their portal user, they could even transport Monsters. I’m guessing they plan to unleash their Auras and attract any Monsters in that area in the Mirror Dimension.

It is a popular tourist spot and a burial site, so that’ll be quite effective, as we found out in Paris, which also met both those conditions. So we need to make a decision and take action as soon as possible...but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

"How much longer are they going to argue?" Muttered Maeve in exasperation.

"As always, this could’ve been an email, once they make their minds up. Was there any point to us coming here?" Grumbled Kechik irritably.

"They’re really making us stand around and wait, after making us come all the way out here," Complained Carmen, tapping her foot impatiently.

Okay, I get it, and I understand why they would complain...but stop acting like you traveled a long journey to get here, I portaled every last one of you here, I should be the one complaining, damn it!

"They could at least include us in the discussion, it’s the least they can do after summoning us here," Osiris was the next to grumble.

"You know that wouldn’t make a difference, if anything it’d mean an ever longer debate," Smiled Leonardo wryly. freeweɓnøvel.com

"He’s got a point there," Added Richard in agreement.

"Maybe this one has the right idea...she’s been asleep for over an hour," Tara nodded at Elise, who was snoring away peacefully, drooling slightly.

Must be nice being an idiot.

"Okay, I’ve had enough...," Remarked Kechik with a grimace, trailing off as he walked towards the table where the higher ups were seated.

As they continued arguing, he slammed his palm onto the table, finally silencing them as they looked up at him with startled expressions on their faces.

"Huh? What is it?"

"Don’t interrupt us, Kechik, this is important!"

"Once we make our decision, we’ll-..."

"Huh? You kidding me? Make a decision? Give me a break, just suck it up and decide right now! It’s been two hours already!" He snapped, looking beyond irritated.

"I have to agree, this has dragged on long enough," Nodded Osiris in agreement.

"Wha-...what’s happening?" Mumbled Elise, the loud noises waking her up as she stared around with a half-asleep look on her face.

"Why not send half of us, and have the rest on standby, depending on what the situation turns out to be?" Suggested Leonardo objectively.

"I can work with that. It’s better than standing around here who knows how long?" Agreed Maeve, backing up that suggestion.

"You know what, I can get behind that too. Assemble a number of our best Category 1s, I’ll portal a fraction of them over to the site of the battle, and if things turn out to be worse than expected, I’ll portal the rest of them in as well," I chimed in.

It took a bit more convincing, but in about five minutes, we finally came to a resolution. We should’ve just done this from the start, we could’ve saved so much time.

It won’t be much longer before Chaos springs into action, so there’s no time to waste, we need to hurry and sort things out, to prepare for this battle.

Given how the previous incidents involving Chaos have gone, I sincerely doubt it’ll be anything short of disastrous. We can only hope that, this time, we handle the situation better than we have done before...

"So, what’s the plan, exactly?" Inquired Lance, a dark look in his eyes.

"Hm? What plan?" I responded with a grin.

"Have you really not planned this out at all?" Sighed Dracula in exasperation.

"Nah, I’m just gonna wing it and see how it goes. We’ll go there, unleash our Auras to bring out the Monsters, and then have ourselves some fun. I’ll wait for the right moment before my face reveal, it’s gonna be grand!" I grinned, as I felt my anticipation rising up.

It was an hour after the meeting with Harmony’s higher ups, I had Glenn pick me up real quick so that I could let the others know what time we were doing this. I’ll be arriving there with Harmony, of course.

Glenn will bring in those from Chaos who were going to be involved in this. I wonder what kind of expressions my Harmony friends will have when I reveal that I’m Anarchy?

Ooh, I can hardly wait to find out!

It’s about time I defect for good, I’m tired of acting like a super nice person anyway. I’ve acted passive and friendly, never saying no to any mission or assignment, and while that’s resulted in me gaining the trust of everyone and putting myself beyond suspicion, I’m sick and tired of it.

Lately, my mask has been slipping slightly every now and then, especially with Inoka. And especially after that time he mastered Dispel, not to mention deducing my gender.

He’s the best, I really like him. If he’s included in this as well, and he probably will be, I wonder what kind of expression he’ll have when I reveal my identity?

Hm, I wonder if I can convince him to join Chaos? Because I’ll probably miss him once I-...nah, as appealing as that is, it’s no fun.

And besides, it’s unlikely that he’ll accept my offer...he may not care about Harmony itself, but he probably won’t betray the people he’s gotten close to.

The other Outliers, Kiyana, Neo, Mike...yeah, I sure as hell can’t convince all of them to join us. First off, because most, if not all, of them, will refuse. And second, because that’d make things boring...Chaos will become so powerful that there’ll be no one left who can oppose us.

In particular, Aurora and Inoka being a part of Harmony is crucial for them to continue being a threat to us...the Category 0s aren’t nearly as big a threat as they think they are, not anymore.

Compared to the denizens of Hell, they’re absolutely nothing. Oh, yeah, and then there’s Fenris too...he’s pretty powerful himself. He has no attachment to Harmony, but he’ll stick around so long as Aurora’s there.

Hm, maybe I should’ve waited for the next full moon, so that he’d be at his full power...oh, well, even without it, he’s still quite a threat, I’m sure it’ll be fine.

As for whether any denizens of Hell will be taking part in this attack...well, no spoilers. You’ll just have to wait and find out...
