Chapter 127: Chapter 126 - Next Attack

Point-of-View: Neo Cronje

———————————————————————————

Damn it, damn it, damn it! Mike, you goddamn idiot! What the actual hell were you thinking!?

He’d just contacted me, saying that the Outliers were fighting fucking Lucifer, of all people, after he’d taken them to go explore the nearby town. I’m so gonna chew him out for that later, but right now, I need to get over there ASAP, and portal everyone away.

There’s just one problem...I can’t open a portal there, someone must have activated an Anti-Teleportation Field around the area, just like with the attack on the cricket stadium. So, now I’m trying to find the closest spot outside that range as fast as possible.

I’d been in the shower until just a few minutes ago, and by the time I answered Mike’s call, there were already eight minutes worth of missed calls from him...that’s far too much time already, I need to-...! Hm?

Is the Anti-Teleportation Field gone? It feels like I can open my portals now, even though the coordinates I’m focusing on should still be a bit within the range of an average Anti-Teleportation Field...yeah, it’s gone now, there’s no spot in the area that I can’t portal in to.

Wait a second...does this mean I’m already too late!?

I need to hurry! I quickly opened a portal as I started to feel alarmed and concerned, before leaping through it and emerging to see...the entire area burning down, ablaze with black flames.

I looked around frantically, surveying the area, before letting out a huge sigh of relief as I spotted them...Zoraiz, Alexis and Inoka were rushing over to Aurora, who was sprawled on the ground, covered in burns.

"Hey, everyone okay!?" I exclaimed as I ran over to them, before coughing as I inhaled some smoke.

Before they could respond, I opened a portal beneath them, taking them back to the RVs. As they dropped into it with yells of surprise and alarm, I jumped into it after them, right as a burning building collapsed in a heap, before I shut the portal to prevent any of the debris from falling through.

"Ow...," Groaned Aurora, as she hit the grass with a thud, wincing in pain as her body shuddered and trembled.

"Okay, Negate...and now, Healing," Muttered Inoka, focusing on healing her.

The tension in her expression then eased up, her shoulders relaxing as the burns all over her body began to fade, her breathing growing more stable.

"Thanks, I really needed that," She sighed gratefully as she sat up, before glancing at me, "Hey, was it you who portaled Lucifer away before he could kill me, or...?"

Hm?

"No, I only just got there a few seconds before I portaled you guys here. Must have been Anarchy, or more specifically, their portal user. First Dracula, and now Lucifer...it’s like they’re testing you guys, but they don’t want to kill you. But for what purpose, and to what ends?" I frowned, unable to figure out their motive.

"I don’t know about that...if it wasn’t for my mad skills with the Light Skill, I’d definitely have died back there. Do you have any idea how painful it is to have your broken ribs puncturing your lungs!?" Exclaimed Inoka, as he clutched at his chest with a shaken expression, his shirt torn and bloodied, "Also, I had my arm sliced off with a freaking shard of glass! Growing it back hurt like a bitch, even with Alleviate active!"

"I got stuck with shards of glass too, it was awful," Sighed Zoraiz with a shudder.

"My neck and shoulders were in agony, and I was coughing up blood, it was the worst," Added Alexis apprehensively.

Guess their reactions are only natural, none of them have suffered such serious injuries before.

"Well, uh...look on the bright side, you survived a battle against one of the strongest Demons ever," I pointed out in an attempt to console them.

"Yeah, well, he’d have killed us all if he hadn’t suddenly been portaled away," Grumbled Aurora saltily.

It’s no use...they’re all way too glum to cheer up right now.

"Alright, well, let’s set all that aside for now...I need an explanation of what happened. How exactly did he find you guys in the first place?" I asked them with a grimace.

I don’t like this...has this hiding spot already been compromised?

Point-of-View: Anarchy/???

"Why did you withdraw me when you did!? What gave you the right!?" Snapped Lucifer angrily, grabbing my collar.

"Easy now...I did say ten minutes, remember? And besides...Aurora’s the one Outlier I couldn’t have you kill. Inoka, the one who pierced you with his bones, is important too. The other two, Zoraiz and Alexis, on the other hand, I’d have been fine with either of them being killed," I responded, as Dracula stepped forward.

"Calm yourself, Lucifer. There is no sense in losing your temper here," Reasoned Dracula objectively.

"Tch...," Lucifer clicked his tongue in response, before tossing me away, my back hitting the wall as he remarked, "Those insolent Meta-Humans...I cannot simply let them get away with what they did to me!"

"In all fairness, you kinda brought it upon yourself. I mean, I did warn you not to underestimate them, didn’t I?" I pointed out, as I went behind Dracula and peered out, "You’d practically dropped your guard completely, and then didn’t even go all out against them till the very end, by which you’d been weakened by Inoka’s light energy."

"Could you not use me as a shield, please?" Sighed Dracula in exasperation.

"That one, with the Light Skill...what the hell did he do? I have never seen anyone weaponize their own bones as he did. And the way he channeled light energy into my body...we Demons are weak against the Light Skill, but it often takes a lot of Light attacks to weaken us to that extent. But that is only because, usually, such attacks are inflicted externally. But he...he injected it directly into my body, how is that even possible!?" Growled Lucifer, an enraged look on his face. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

Yeah, even I was surprised by that...I never imagined that he’d think to use his own bones like that, or that something like that was even possible. And the extent to which Lucifer was physically weakened by that was unbelievably immense.

"I’ve never seen anything like that...quite impressive, I can only imagine how much more he’ll evolve the healing capabilities of the Light Skill," I mused in fascination.

If he manages to master Dispel on top of all this, he’ll be a real force to be reckoned with. How exciting, I can’t wait to see how he improves...

"I would prefer not to find out. If you ask me, I believe that he should be eliminated as soon as possible," Frowned a Lucifer in response.

"No way, I want to see how much he can improve! By the way, how are you doing on Aura? Can you sustain your presence in the living world for much longer?" I asked him.

"Tch...I do not have much left, and if my incompetent summoner can fuel me with a significant amount of Aura once more, I suppose I should be able to carry out one more attack," He replied with a grumble.

"Sweet...then your next target will also be Sri Lanka, but this time, in a much more crowded area, like a major city," I smirked in response.

"The same country again? But why?" Inquired Dracula curiously.

"Because, it’s what they’d least expect!"

"I...suppose that makes sense," He replied wryly.

"I have no objections. However, if those Outliers show up again, I will kill them. And if you stop me, I shall kill you instead," Lucifer warned me icily.

"Aw, come on, why you gotta be so negative, Lucy?" I responded playfully.

"Wha...? Grr, call me that again, and I shall kill you immediately," He growled in response.

"Oops, uh, my bad. Anyway, how about we launch the next attack in two days?" I suggested, deciding to give him a day to recover.

Physical damage is nothing to Demons, they can recover from those in an instant. But the Light damage he sustained won’t go away so quickly, and there’s nothing we can do to speed up the process.

Plus, it’ll give Wrest some time to recover his own Aura and let him better sustain Lucifer’s presence in the living world.

"Very well, that is fine by me," He responded irritably.

"By the way, I have to admit, I was a bit nervous when Aurora reduced you to a pile of flesh and bones...be honest, did she get close to killing you?" I inquired curiously.

"Tch...no, of course not, as if I could be killed so easily," He muttered, before walking away.

To kill a Demon or Fallen Angel, you have to destroy their cores. The stronger the Demon, the smaller the core, and they can freely move it around inside their bodies.

His core is probably no bigger than, like, an apple seed. Incidentally, Angels have the same weakness. Physical damage won’t affect them that much, so long as their cores aren’t destroyed.

I’ve never seen a Demon or Angel’s core, but from what I know, those from Hell have cores that look like red, glowing orbs or marbles, while those from Heaven tend to have blue ones.

Well, anyway, after this next attack, I think I’ll have Chaos lay low for a while...which means, I’ll have to make this one extra chaotic. Hm...I haven’t really done anything to Eden yet, maybe it’s time to get them involved in this...
