Chapter 101: Chapter 100 - Change

Point-of-View: X

———————————————————————————

"Wow, social media is absolutely exploding...and that Anarchy person’s accounts already have millions of followers," Remarked Miraliz, as she scrolled through my phone.

"Hardly surprising, I’d be quite shocked and curious about everything they said if I was still a normal human too," Pointed out Petra in amusement, before adding with a smirk, "I wonder how Eden’s leaders feel right now, having had their plan exposed to the entire world like this."

"Heh, yeah, I thought that was pretty awesome too. Sure, this Anarchy seems to be kinda crazy and their ideas are pretty scary, but I applaud that part, at least," Grinned Miraliz in approval. freeweɓnøvel.com

"They’re probably scrambling to try and figure out how to deal with this. Anarchy made Harmony look good, but Eden definitely looks like the bad guys...they definitely wanted to make it clear that Chaos is the main threat though," I chimed in with fascination.

It was a few minutes after the live stream of the UN meeting had been shut off, following Anarchy’s revelation of Meta-Humans.

I have to say, I was pretty taken aback and bemused by the whole thing as it happened, but now that I’ve had time to process it, I gotta say, this is great.

If this results in the crumbling of Meta-Human society as it is now, then I’m all for it. Regardless of how this all ends, one thing’s for certain; a lot of things are gonna change as a result of this.

"The most important fact for us is the technique Anarchy used at the end...Dispel. Potentially the only technique that can nullify our Conditions, and now we know that someone has mastered it...that’s definitely good news," Remarked Miraliz with a gleam in her eyes.

"I’m a bit apprehensive of this Anarchy person, but if they’re the only one who can free us, then at some point, we’ll have to find a way to meet with them," Nodded Petra in agreement.

"It’s entirely possible that they’ll come to us instead...depending on who they have on their side, all they need to know is our location. I really didn’t expect to ever see another portal user other than Neo, that’s an added bonus," I smirked in response.

"Do you have any guesses as to anyone in Eden who might have defected to Chaos? If we can find out for sure, then we can use them to get in contact with Anarchy," Suggested Petra eagerly.

"I don’t think it’ll be that easy...for one thing, if we’re too proactive, we might violate and trigger the Condition...directly asking for help will almost definitely do so. In that regard, we basically have to leave our fates in their hands. And second...I have absolutely no idea who might have betrayed Eden, so there’s that," I informed her sheepishly.

"Hey, I just thought of something...there are brainwashing Dark Skill techniques, right? Do you think someone from either Harmony or Eden might manipulate everyone’s memories?" Suddenly inquired Miraliz with a frown.

"Nah, I doubt it. The Memory Manipulation technique hasn’t been mastered at a high enough level to be implemented on a global scale in several decades. And no one’s been able to learn the more advanced Mind Control technique even on a basic level. And even if there was a Dark Skill user who could do so, it’s not like they can delete all the viral footage that’s online. Normal humans can’t easily break free of the effects of Dark Skill techniques, but if they come across an obvious contradiction to their memories and realize that something’s wrong, the effects will weaken and eventually fade," I explained in response.

"That’s good to know, at least," Petra sighed in relief.

"Hey, uh...Anarchy just posted something on each of their social media accounts, check it out...," Miraliz spoke up, as she showed us the screen.

It was just a single sentence, one that read...’do you think deities exist? find out soon? or maybe find out later?’...that’s, uh, pretty ominous.

"Oh, boy, they might be planning to provoke a Divine or Pseudo-Divine Tier Monster," I realized with a nervous smile.

"What’s the difference between Divine and Pseudo-Divine, anyway? Is the latter weaker or something?" Asked Petra curiously.

"No, it’s not quite that simple...Divine Tier refers to God, Satan and the eight Dragon Deities. Pseudo Divine Tier refers to other beings with comparable power to the Dragon Deities. And unlike Mirror Dimension Monsters, these ones are visible to normal humans too, and possess Aura. It’s theorized that, centuries ago, it was the Dragon Deities that gave rise to Meta-Humans, but there’s no actual proof of that," I informed them.

"Uh, just how strong are they, anyway?" Asked Miraliz in response.

"Well, I’ve never met one, so it’s hard to say, but...they’re supposed to be so strong that you’d need an army of Meta-Humans just to take one down. The Dragon Deities have apparently been dormant for centuries though, and it’s been decades since any other Deity showed themselves either. There locations should be unknown, but maybe Anarchy found one...the only clue to their whereabouts is in the fact that Mirror Dimension Monsters stay the hell away from Deity Monsters. But most of the world is low in Monster activity, so that doesn’t really narrow it down much."

"Wait, why is that? I thought Monsters are obsessed with Aura," Responded Miraliz in surprise.

"Meta-Human and Demi-Human Aura, yes. But the Aura of a Deity has a different energy signature to ours, and it strikes immense fear into Monsters from the Mirror Dimension."

"What are Demi-Humans like, by the way? Have you ever met one?" Inquired Petra curiously.

"Just one...I encountered a Vampire a while back, not a pleasant experience at all. There are four types of Demi-Humans...Vampires, Werewolves, Elves and Witches. Vampires are loners and tend to live among normal humans, Werewolves live in packs, in mountainy or cavernous places. Elves live in areas with heavy greenery, they also live in groups. As for Witches...very little is known about them at all, so there’s not much I can say about them," I surmised the Demi-Human races.

"So, then-...," Began Miraliz, before trailing off as the door suddenly swung open, and Trevor poked his head in.

"There you are," He remarked as he spotted me, "Come with me, I need to talk to you."

"Aw, is this a love confession? I’m really flattered and all-," I started to respond teasingly.

"Shut it. First, take that little bitch back to her cell, and then meet me upstairs," He cut me off, as he flashed a pointed glare at Petra, before storming off with a huff.

"I really wish I could hit him again," She sighed wistfully, as she stood up.

I then took her back to her cell, before heading out of the basement and up the stairs. As I reached the entrance, I spotted Trevor standing there with an impatient look on his face, tapping his foot on the ground repeatedly.

"It’s about time. Come with me," He instructed as he noticed me approaching.

"I took, like, two minutes, why so restless?" I inquired as I followed after him.

"Tch, there’s no time to take it easy...tell me, did you watch the UN conference?"

"Uh-huh, I watched it with Miraliz and Petra. That was pretty rough for us, huh?" I replied with a sigh.

"Indeed it was, our plan had been going so well, but now, we’ve hit a wall. I don’t even know who I can trust...you’re one of the only ones I can be sure of, thanks to your Condition," He remarked grimly.

"Aww, you mean you trust me? That makes me happy," I smirked, as I latched onto his arm tightly, pressing my chest up against him.

"Wh-wha-...l-let go of me, I-I don’t have time for your jokes," He snapped with a stutter, pushing me off.

He’s as easy to tease as ever, I see...I have to be careful, and hope he doesn’t realize that Anarchy’s Dispel technique could free us of our Conditions. I need to make him feel like I’m on his side, but I can’t overdo it, or he’ll get suspicious...

"Anyway, you really have no idea who the traitors could be?" I asked him.

"Of course not, I wouldn’t be agonizing over it if I did. I doubt you’d know, but do you have any grounds to suspect anyone? Any unusual behavior or anything?"

Wow, he must be desperate if he’s asking me. And of course I don’t-...huh, wait, there’s that...

"Not sure if this counts as suspicious, but the day Adelmira killed that Harmony family, Wrest was wearing a shirt instead of his usual baggy long sleeves t-shirts," I recalled as I mulled it over.

"Tch, be serious. How does that tell me anything?" He frowned in response.

"Well, there was also the fact that he was recording or streaming that whole thing. At least, I’m pretty sure he was...he had his phone in his breast pocket, with the camera pointing out. I just figured that the higher ups had ordered him to do that so that they could see how Adelmira handled it...but who knows, maybe the recipient was Anarchy," I suggested with a shrug.

Huh, actually, now that I think about it, it seems plausible...and as Trevor abruptly halted, he seemed to be thinking the same thing.

"Don’t tell me he’s really-...that bastard, I always disliked him, but this? No, it’s too soon to jump to conclusions...first, let’s find him and make him talk," Grimaced Trevor, his eyes burning with anger.

Despite what he said, he already seems pretty convinced. And if Wrest really is a part of Chaos, then...he’s probably already long gone...
