"Hey, come on, it’s about to start!" Called out Inoka, as we gathered around his laptop.
Today’s the 2nd of June, a bit over a week since the Monster outbreaks were dealt with, and in the aftermath, the entire world has been whipped into a frenzied uproar.
Religious groups have been going absolutely nuts, calling all this the work of the devil or whatever. Meanwhile, with more than enough proof that all the recent footage of us wasn’t a hoax, the world leaders could no longer ignore this issue.
And so, today, the United Nations had called an international conference to discuss this. Naturally, we were incredibly curious to see how it goes, and they were livestreaming the meeting worldwide for free, so of course we’re checking it out.
"This is history in the making, kinda cool that we get to witness it," Grinned Zoraiz eagerly.
"I know, right? Hey, do you think they’ll play the footage of you guys during this meeting?" Wondered Inoka with a look of intrigue.
"I hope not...the clips of me in Paris make it look like I’m wildly swinging at thin air, so embarrassing," Groaned Aurora, burying her face in her hands, as Dot nuzzled her chin with a concerned chirp.
"Heh, yeah, your face in those videos was so intense, you looked pretty scary," Laughed Dieter teasingly.
"By the way, where’s Kiyana? Did you call her?" Inoka asked me.
"Oh, she isn’t here, she’s at a different base helping out with something since they’re short-staffed, according to Mike," I answered with a shrug.
"Quiet, it’s starting!" Grinned Zoraiz in excitement.
The start was pretty boring though, just the different country leaders greeting each other and crap.
"Come on, get to the topic at hand already," Grumbled Inoka impatiently.
The small talk continued for a while though, until finally, much to our relief, they got to the discussion...
"I’m sure you’ve all seen the clips circulating online. To start with, do any of you know who these people are?"
Naturally, the answer was no, of course regular human leaders wouldn’t have a clue about Meta-Humans.
"Where did these people come from?"
"It’s likely that they’ve been living among us all this time."
"That’s a scary thought."
"How should we deal with them?"
"Preferably peacefully, but considering the destruction they’ve caused whenever they appear..."
"Actually, looking closely at the videos of them online, it almost looked like they were fighting some invisible creatures or something."
"Yes, we noticed that too, and there’s the strange footprints that have been showing up in the areas where these super powered people appear in."
"Maybe they’re fighting ghosts? Like Ghostbusters or something."
"Are you daft or something?"
"Across the 22nd and 23rd of last month, when several of these people appeared all over they world, they all appeared in areas that had been reporting strange incidents in the preceding days."
"So, are these people friend and not foe?"
"No, it’s too early to determine that yet. We don’t even know if they’re all working together, in the first place."
"We need to find out what their agenda is. Several churches and other religious groups are putting up quite a fuss, knowing more about these people could help calm them down."
"We should definitely avoid antagonizing these people. After all, it did seem like they were helping, and since that day, there haven’t been any strange incidents in the areas they appeared in."
"Yeah, there are some clips that clearly show them saving civilians."
"But maybe that’s all intentional, to make us view them as non-hostile!"
"We can’t jump to conclusions without proof!"
Before long, the discussion had devolved into a heated argument, none of the world leaders on the same page...
"Heh, this is awesome," Chuckled Inoka in amusement.
"I don’t know, it’s a little concerning, if you ask me," Responded Aurora with a wry smile.
"Shh, I’m trying to hear what they’re saying," I shushed them.
"Yeah, me too," Agreed Zoraiz, while Dieter looked like he was starting to lose interest.
Still, it doesn’t look like they’re gonna reach a consensus here, not anytime soon. Quite a number of the world leaders were apprehensive and wary of the Meta-Humans, which I guess is pretty understandable.
"Who knows how many of them there are? We could incur the wrath of thousands, maybe even millions, if we go after these superhumans!"
"So we just let them be and allow them to do as they please!? That’s too cowardly, have some backbone!"
"Better than being foolhardy enough to actually consider making enemies of an unknown entity over a more peaceful resolution!"
Hm? Wait, what the-...is that...?
"Uh, guys...that’s a portal, isn’t it?" Remarked Zoraiz in bewilderment.
"Is Neo going to inter-...okay, that’s not Neo," Frowned Inoka, as three people stepped out.
Two of them had face masks on, one with spiky blonde hair and heterochromia, another with black hair and black eyes, and the one in the middle was wearing a hooded cloak with a black mask that covered their entire face, with red streaks painted onto the mask.
"Hey, the one in the cloak and the blonde guy, they’re the ones I saw in Paris!" Exclaimed Aurora, pointing at the one in the middle.
"Wh-who are you!?"
"Where did you people come from!?"
"Wow, ’you people’, that’s racist. Ahem, we are Meta-Humans, just like the ones in the clips you’ve been seeing online, and we’re here to answer all your questions!" Greeted the masked one, their voice distorted.
"Who are you!?"
"Stop hiding your faces!"
"Oh, sorry about this, but I have my reasons. For now, you can call me Anarchy, the leader of a Meta-Human faction called Chaos. Now, I’m sure you have a lot of questions. Let me start by explaining the basics about Meta-Humans...," Came the reply, before they explained everything.
They went into detail about Harmony and Eden, how each organization operates, and surprisingly, they told the truth. They also went on to explain the Mirror Dimension and Monsters, which can’t be seen by normal humans.
"Y-you really expect us to believe all that?"
"Huh? Well, I only told the truth, so whether you believe me or not is upto you," Shrugged Anarchy in response.
"Hey, maybe I’m missing something, but why isn’t Neo showing up and stopping this?" Wondered Dieter curiously.
"I can think of two reasons why...first, the higher ups refused to allow that. Or second, they’ve activated an Anti-Teleportation Field," Surmised Inoka in reply.
"So, any questions? I’ll stick around for about five more minutes, and then I’ll be on my way," Remarked Anarchy, looking around at the world leaders.
"You mentioned that you are a part of a faction called Chaos, is that a separate organization to Harmony and Eden?"
"Yeah, very different. We’re made up of those who’ve become disillusioned by the policies of either Harmony or Eden-...ohh, I just realized, Harmony knows of us, but Eden’s learning about us for the first time right now! Hah! I’m formerly of Harmony, by the way. Oh, and Eden, if you’re watching, I’m your ’informant’, but as you might have guessed now, I was never actually on your side!" Laughed Anarchy, sounding amused...though the distorted voice made it sound kinda creepy.
"You said that Eden aims for world domination while Harmony aims for peaceful coexistence, that’s why only the latter bothers with eliminating Monsters. Tell us, what does Chaos aim for?" freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"Hm? Well, it’s in the name, really. But to be more specific, let’s see...we want Meta-Humans to be able to live freely, without being bound to the rules of either Harmony or Eden, which both dictate that we must live in hiding, for different reasons, of course. And so...we intend to tear down both those antiquated organizations, expose the existence of Meta-Humans for all to see, and then...sit back and enjoy the show.
Will regular human society accept Meta-Humans or reject them? Will this all end in peace, or all-out war? What’s stronger, Meta-Human powers or modern weaponry? I want to find out the answers to all those questions. After all, isn’t that what freedom is?" Declared Anarchy, before adding with a smirk,"If you ask me, Harmony and Eden are the least of your concerns...Chaos should be your biggest concern, because we intend to flip this world on its head!"
As they finished their little rant, a stunned silence ensued, before the world leaders responded in shock and anger...
"Y-you’re insane!"
"The hell is wrong with you!?"
"We won’t let you do as you please!"
"Pfft, yeah, sure, just try and stop me. I think I’ll take my leave now-...oh, actually, there’s one more thing. Eden’s been trying to put their goal of world domination into action, and to do so, they’ve been brainwashing and controlling the leaders of certain countries. Let’s see...four of you here are under their control, not that you’d know, of course. Here, I’ll be nice, let me undo it for you...now, then, Light Skill: Dispel. Oh, by the way, follow me on social media, my username on all platforms is Anarchy_Chaos!" They exclaimed with a wave.
"Aaand, they’re already trending," Remarked Zoraiz in bemusement, looking at his phone. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
A bright light then shone out, obscuring the screen, and as it faded, all three of them were gone, likely having left through a portal. And off four of the world leaders, a black mist was dissipating from their bodies, confused expressions appearing on their faces as they looked around in bewilderment.
"Th-they’re gone!"
"What should we do!?"
"End the live stream, we need to discuss this in private!"
"Yes, I agree!"
"Shut it off!"
And suddenly, the feed cut out, as they ended the broadcast.
"Woah...," Muttered Zoraiz, wide-eyed.
"That was, uh...wow, I really don’t know what to say about any of that," Laughed Inoka in bemusement.
"I can’t tell what that Anarchy person is thinking...exposing Meta-Humans like this might anger Harmony and Eden, but it also benefits us. Now that they know that all Meta-Humans aren’t on the same side, they can’t villainize everyone," Pointed out Aurora.
"Honestly, regardless of that...I’m pretty sure things are gonna get a whole lot messier and more hectic now," I sighed in dread...
